Creating in Canva can be fun but their Terms of Use is not so clear because we are teachers who happen to sell. Here is the link to the license-agreement: www.canva.com/policies/content-license-agreement/. Free items are generally commercial use and some paid are generally commercial use but it depends what it is. If I can get someone from Canva to speak with me, on camera, I will upload the conversation. My answer regarding Terms of Use may not be 100% correct which is why I say, "email them and get your answer".

I recently read canva’s terms of use and they are clear that you can sell items made with canva elements given the following caveats: they must be flattened, and any photographs must be altered and made a part of your overall design (not sold as is). So my interpretations is that if we have a pdf that we can’t flatten (a pdf with clickable links) then we need to use canva free elements. If we have an item we can flatten, we are free to use their elements. With that said I will contact them. I think they recently changed their terms of use wording so we all need to be clear on what their final decision is on this.

Hi Stephanie, well said! Yes there are ways to create products but it isn't so cut and dry. I don't like to present that you can create products when there are too many 'no's to it.

You do have to be careful and intentional in altering and adding graphics/photographs to make sure you are following their TOU. @@ItsAllPrimary

@@stephanienewton6618 Also, there are images, even in the pro that cannot be used for commercial use. I have another Canva video coming as I talked to Canva to get a clearer explanation.

I have been trying to understand this… I pay for a pro account so I don’t know why pro elements would not be allowed. But for now I will use the free elements because I think that’s ok… 🤷‍♀️ someone help me understand this

Hi Jenni, some pro elements are allowed. As I said, you need to check what you are using. It is not a blanket "Use Free or Use Paid". Here is the link to the Agreement: www.canva.com/policies/content-license-agreement/ . If you want to use something, just email and double check with them.

I think I understand now. I’ve read and watched a Canva video.. it is my understanding that flattening a pdf with pro content isn’t enough. The pdf creation needs to be creative and a original design by not using the elements in a standalone way.. we need to combine more than one element with the pro content by overlapping and combining elements. I believe making it difficult to extract because evidently some people will steal and have the means to take the clip art even flattened perhaps… that is my understanding. So if I am creating a pdf even though I pay for pro I cannot use pro elements unless I add more to the design it’s kind of like the no coloring book rule for most clipart. But I will try to use free content 1st, but I believe the pro version laments can be used more easily in things other then pdfs but I would still say combine elements to make an original creation so to speak.

@@kinderjenni Wouldn't that be nice. I just talked to Canva this week and I'm making another video. It will be a bit more clearer.

I love to use Canva to create worksheets that I save as .JPG and then turn into a .PDF, but most of my designs are done using PPT.
@ItsAllPrimary

Hi LinguaLand, you can save a step by flattening your worksheets and turning them into pdfs.

I need to start using Canva more for my covers and pins. I'm just wondering if you would still have to secure PDFs with another program after flattening. I do love flatpack for that and setting preferences (e.g., ability to print or not).

Hi Helen, I don't think so. Flattening does most of the work for us. I love using Flatpack when working in PPT.

How do you save all your TPT stuff on your computer?
@ItsAllPrimary

I save it on an external hard drive. Many sellers save on their Google Drive.
