Booting into UEFI Windows setup on the ProBook 650 G1... A little different than usual!

In my previous video about this laptop, I had mentioned that while the laptop is overall well designed and built, the UEFI BIOS/firmware on this thing is not so great. An example of this is starting Windows 10 installation. While most computers out there would boot the installation by selecting the UEFI boot option for the flash drive or DVD with the installation media, this laptop does things a bit differently. On this machine, it appears you must either (1) boot from the setup disk using the classic MBR boot option (and later run mbr2gpt to convert the installation), or (2) manually browse for and load the EFI boot image yourself from the installation media. Maybe in the enterprise world this method makes perfect sense, but I would think it would also make sense to just simply select the USB drive or DVD drive as a UEFI boot option.

Thanks this video really really helped. I have 20 of these given to me to be donated and I could not get them to cooperate. Finally got windows to install on my first one! I was getting concerned they would all be useless bricks, never had this much trouble with an install before.

Bro i need help I try to install Windows 10 in UEFI mode with a GPT disk and it does not work, when I go to install it detects the disk but fails and then when it is already "installed" it does not detect the disk, what can it be?

Ah good old first gen 650s. They were okay machines, but gave me a headache with uefi network boot and USB boot and sometimes windows issues like sound driver messing up and causing weird lags of the system.

Hey, just caught this. Does anyone here have any experience putting some flavor of Linux on the 650 G1? I can get it to run, but it requires me to manually boot to Linux every time. Thanks in advance, folks.
