well to be fair if you have to release like 30 different characters.... making a different mold for every single one is pretty pointless especially for the minor ones...
The mlp fandom actually sports a fairly large toy-customization community, which I've been wanting to get into for a while, but it's a bit of an expensive and conspicuous hobby. Anyway, these knockoff ponies would make great characters to try and make brushables of!
Those mini-figs are based on the crap cheap mini-figs that Hasbro initially came out with. The original Hasbro mini figs were awful quality and little thought went into appearance or anything with them other than, "Make them cheap". When the show got popular, Hasbro realized that they had a commodity on their hands and actually got their act together with their pony merchandise. The new figures are actually of decent quality and the sculpts and paint jobs on them are very show accurate. Of course, expecting the bootleggers to make their ponies out of those models is asking too much, but it's probably only a matter of time before we start seeing them.
I don't know if this is appropriate but I drew some "fanart" inspired by your reviews...! (warning for horror turtles) i.imgur.com/NdoQXdz.png I don't even really care about Turtles or He-man or anything but I find your bootleg reviews entertaining, so thank you for making these!
Master Markus Very true, but some other simple toys come to mind. Like the Pikachu ones or some of the Ninja Turles. They look like monstrosities. These acually look nice enough to be legit imo.
"Only 4 poses" hilariously more poses than the actual licensed Hasbro brusheables have. Also their weird anime eyes are kinda....no. Also weirdly, some of those molds ARE from unicorns and pegasi but they removed the wings and horns???? Phelous! Again! If you could do a bootleg zone for "Princess Rinse and Spit" I'd be so happy! But she's pretty sought after and expensive. your level of troll in this is so good 8'D omg.
I love the image of Phelous in a Big Lots looking at the Fairy Pony box, wondering if it is legit or not. While there is a little girl next to him with her arms crossed, frowning and shaking her head, at Phelous's lack of knowledge of the show. Just waiting to correct you about something you didn't want to know about.
@@harryking3215 Yeah, probably the stereotypical obese neckbeard type just itching to “actually” people who don’t live and breathe their same passion. Stereotyping? Perhaps, but goddamn if it’s not ridiculously commonplace. Some stereotypes come about because a number of people out themselves with outlandish behavior and attitudes. This is one of those. Fuck, man. After a friend introduced me to it, I watched My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic many years ago and enjoyed it (it was cute, funny, and surprisingly quite solid, especially for something so cutesy), but I refuse to ever consider myself a “brony”. Not only do I find the word itself stupid and obnoxious, I don’t want any association with the zealous douchebags we’re talking about, and I don’t need to be a part of anything anyway.
Funny thing is that the official minifigures are kind of lazy too, though the later ones are a bit better. At first, they only had five molds that they just released with different colors and cutie marks. One of the six main characters didn't even get her own mold at the time. (but she has one now) They did start to release other molds for other characters, but if you buy the blindbags they're still mostly the first five molds. I was always pretty annoyed by this, especially considering that a lot of the background characters on the show (a lot of the minifigures were modeled after the background characters, using the same color schemes and cutie marks) reused models, so making just a few extra molds would have made them more accurate to the show. They also only have their cutie marks on one side. Gah, I feel silly for going on about this. Anyway, good video. I always love the skits at the end! I hope the evil Twilight Acorn princess comes back.
'They would be good replacements for background ponies.' Yea... you'd be surprised how much people care about the background ponies (and as someone who can name a ton of them i probably can't judge).
@@Tareltonlives Remind me about season 4, please? Like what’s bad about it? I watched the show on RU-vid here many years ago after a friend recommended it to me, but I don’t remember how many seasons I saw. If it helps, I’m pretty sure Twilight Sparkle becoming an alicorn princess (which I didn’t get all pissy about, but I do think it was a really dumb idea) was the last major development at the end of whatever season. And I believe what I watched was all there was at the time. I almost want to say it was three seasons, but I’m not sure. I think I’ve heard rumblings before about season 4 being shitty. Given the way things ended the last I saw, I wouldn’t be surprised. Something evidently changed with the writers, directors, and/or producers, as most of the show seemed really well done and intelligent up until the alicorn thing.
02:00 At least they put the Cutie Mark on both sides unlike the "canon" figures from Hasbro. 02:37 Or horns. 02:47 Hasbro is infamous for the same thing tbh. Also Lunadancer Sparkle is best Acorn Princess. :P I do wish I could give Phelous a hug tho. TTnTT
funny how phelous say that having "4 molds" is a give away of knock off. When the little pony line came out, the official line had I think 5 Molds and took them like 3 years or more to start making new molds
I love Friendship is Magic but considering some of the fanbase I wonder how many heads exploded in anger for what Phelous said in the beginning and didn't stay to hear him say he was just kidding? LOL
8:45 😂😂😂😂 Demonic Twilight Sparkle ripoff *APPLEJACK YOU STOLE MY BEAUTY MARK I AM THE TWILIGHT I AM THE ACORN PRINCESS!!! HOW DARE YOU STE- oh wait I don’t have the right cutie marks it’s just stars and moon on my butt WHATLL I DO OH NO I SHOULD HAVE WINGS TOO AND A HORN THIS IS ALL WRONG YOU KNOW WHAT THIS FRIENDSHIP IS OVER!!! AAAAAAH!!* 😂😂🤣🤣
i've never seen "friendship is magic" when i think of my little pony i think of the purple smooze covering the world and the flutter ponies refusing to fight it until lickety-split convinced them to help because she saved the flutter pony that fell in the well.
Its funny to me that the friendship is magic mini figures started with like 5 molds and all of the toys cheap out by painting the cutie mark only on one pony butt cheek, so kudos to Big Lots!
4:19 Hasn't stopped the shipping fandom before. "Just because I'm a lady doesn't mean I don't have a DICK!" -Rarity/either KroboProductions or cs188 (I don't remember)
...Phelous, are you ok? You either sound depressed or like you haven't slept in days throughout this video and the lighting, editing, and sound quality all sound like when you first started bootlegs. I'm starting to think that part at the end wasn't you acting...
Phelous, if you _really_ want to trigger people, you should do the exact opposite: praise the series. Trust me, a lot more people will get mad that way. 4:15 ...bad decisions, Phelous. Bad. Decisions.
I kind of want to see someone come up with names and personalities for all these ponies, like what has happened to so many actual background ponies from the show.
"Do they ride each other on the show?" Well, Spike the Dragon does a lot of riding early on the series, especially on his surrogate mother/sister figure, so there's that. And the now infamous scene in Winter Wrap-Up where Twilight gets dressed... in a saddle. In a world with no humans. You can imagine the captions that bit spawned afterwards. Then there was the 'horse-drawn horse-drawn carriages' bit. Yes, that's 'horse-drawn' twice. It makes sense in context.
Man where is Cinnamon Swirl?! She was the best in season zero. Her and JackKnife running the underground magik labs. Another fantastic bootleg vid Phelous.
This may not be related to the video at hand, but have you thought of doing some of Wei Jiang's Knock-off Transformers? The stuff they make is fucking great. M01 Commander is especially good. I recommend him the most.
Fluttershy and Rarity (with the wrong hair color, but the cutie mark is somewhat accurate) God, it's like you don't watch the show or anything plebeian... lol, j/k...
You can just pretend this are the mane 6 (or 8 or whatever now with whatever villains have joined and replaced the main characters as the main stars of the show) after Discord was through with them
2:23 in real one eye designs doesn't match actual show, what we can talk about bootlegs. I have few from chupa-chups and other crap egg, and they doesn't match ether, even if it says that it's licensed by Hasbro. I heard one time some dude printed ponies on 3d printer or something, and Hasbro shut him down, go buy our crappy figurines that doesn't match show.
Well for once the bootlegs actually got one up on the official merchandise in the fact that these have their "Cutie Marks" on BOTH SIDES! I find that both hilarious and frustrating. Get your shit together Hasbro!
WOW they actually cutie-marked BOTH sides of their ass! Buck you, Hasbro! I want a Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara bootleg! OH and BEHOLD our Earth Pony ACORN Princess Twilight!
Background ponies? Well, judging how much the fandom seems to love them to the point of making up complete personalities despite them having little to to actual characterization and to the point that they overshadow the actual characters....
I had some fairy ponies that I bought at the family dollar store and I drew them as my little pony character OC's on paper for fun and I showed it on a my little pony amino I named one twinkle stellar I collect my little pony knock off toys for drawing and art purposes even though I'm not a my little pony fan I just like trying things for fun
Dragons do appear in the show, Phelous. One of the main characters is a baby dragon. As far as I've seen, he's the only character who's ever ridden any of the ponies, though I have seen Pinkie Pie hop onto the others' back in excitement, but there are pony-drawn carriages that serve as public transportation. Your comment about these knock-offs looking like background ponies isn't far off. Some background ponies just reuse the molds and cutie marks of the main ponies, and some have really generic cutie marks and mane styles. There are also animation errors that give the Mane Six and the more occurring background characters wings and horns they don't normally have. Oh, and "Acorn Princess"'s cutie mark more resembles Princess Luna's. I don't remember any ponies with a snowflake cutie mark, but I'm sure there are since most pegasus ponies control the weather. I think the fan character Snowdrop has one.
