We only use our generator for refrigerator and freezer during the day and then switch over to window unit AC. At nite so we can sleep....but it's a gas one.... priorities......must be figured out before you need to use it....we are in SE. Louisiana
It is not racist but patriotic to care as those of us who legally immigrated understand the process is there for a reason and people coming illegally are being exploited so they would need evreyone else to oppose what they are doing even if they dont know it is for their best interest. You are helping them without even realizing it by preventing them from coming illegally so as not to become slave to be used
been watching SP1 for years I’m not white but he doesn’t come off as racist to me, just my gut feeling he’s alright although i don’t agree with his opinions all the time I wouldn’t mind if he were my neighbor
We live in a town of a little over 3,000. I have valid intel of a few months ago, in the middle of the night, 200 illegals were dropped off here. We contacted our governor.
They do that in Montana. They sneak them in by the busloads in the middle of the night. About five years back we saw a Mexican gang in a parking lot. We had never seen a gang before.
Collecting prep items isn't good enough. You must use them, practice with them and have extra parts for repairs if needed. Know your TOOLS and know how to use them or they are useless!

Giving a tip to those that may need it. If you're not using jars then can up distilled water. The jars are already sitting and taking up space so if they're empty then canning water can be useful and gives the jar something to do :-)
@@kenlandon7803 That time is excessive. You can safely process raw meat for 90 minutes in quarts. I'd guess 10 minutes under pressure should be sufficient.
When using solar/batteries or a generator, to keep your freezers cold, only use a few hours per day. Also put jugs of water in to freeze. This will allow your resource usage to be stretched. They don't need to be plugged in and running constantly.
My sister lives in central Florida. For years I've tried to teach her what she needs for survival in hurricane country. Her answer was always, "We have a Generac. My husband takes care of those matters". Her husband died two years ago. Heavily jabbed, but, another story. She was forced to sell the big house, with the Generac The Generac was listed on the real estate listing. It HAD to work. It did not. It cost her $2,800 to have it repaired. I wonder how long it didn't work?
Ours automatically comes on once per week and runs for a 5 minute function check. Her installer could have programmed that. Further, a yearly tune-up is recommended. As with all machinery, preventive maintenance is required.
From a generac owner . If you aren't maintaining that on a bi annual basis and running the weekly maintenance tests you are playing with fire. They do require diligent maintenance. To do nothing and hope it works when you need it , is ignorant .
Hey guy, I live in East Orlando and I was already into survival since the 80s when we were all afraid of being attacked by Russia and do the Cold War years but living here I really became interested in an emergency preparedness. You have to be prepared and it has to become part of your life, it's not optional. It's too bad your sister didn't heed your warning
The dicipline of filling your fuel tank (ALL VEHICLES and EQUIPMENT whatever type of fuel it is) will save you one day. Shtf does not care if you are not ready. Our mantra now is 2/3 tank and fill. Might be inconveinent, but when you need the range for whatever reason, it will be there. I do not count on taking fuel from the vehicle (difficult with new cars) so you MUST have other storage. The amount is up to you. That guy should have been getting ready DAYS BEFORE the storm. Regardless of weather forecast was. Thanks Dave!
Similar problems here with one difference, over the last 2-3 decades the Mexican population has largely been welcomed into the community and most have assimilated quite well and it is them that are moving the new arrivals along and forcing them to leave. I have talked to many and to quote” we have spent decades of effort and hard work to be accepted and respected and comfortable in this community. Don’t you worry the new arrivals won’t stay here long enough for dust to settle on their feet. We are your friends and neighbors and we don’t want or will we accept this. “ it’s not what I expected but there it is.
They are right. This is similar to the Irish and Italians that worked hard when we came in. I'm third generation so I know from my grandfather how it was.
That's not a surprise. For the first 70yrs of the 20th century, they identified and were considered to be white. LULAC even fought to have the white designation. More than 50% identified as white on both the 2010 and 2020 census.
I am in Baytown TX, The problem was we have had so much rain this spring (11 inches above average) the ground was still soft and the trees had put strong fresh leaves. Then you add 80 MPH wind and the trees just up rooted.
After a nearby tornado in May, we were without power for 66 hours. Thankfully, municipal water was still flowing. My little battery was able to keep the fridge, but too many clouds for good recharge with my little panels. Hubby was able to borrow a welder one evening to keep freezer going. Learned a lot. And yes, canning was not going to be happening, even though I has natural gas for the stove top. Too hot with no air movement. Had to save all energy I had for fridge. On my to do list - can up some of that hamburger in the freezer. And I am now more diligent about getting water jugs in the empty places in the freezer for better cold retention. I had gotten a little lazy about that.
It is much cheaper and uses less power to use a deep freezer during a power outage. Fill up all the extra space in your deep freezer with water jugs that way you will have ice. If the power goes out immediately put your refrigerator items in a cooler with the ice bottles from your freezer. If you are using a solar generator and don't think it'll last the night do it 2 hours on and 2 hours off everything will stay frozen solid.
@@johnd4348 nonsense. If you drive 100 miles a week and fill up at 1/4 tank a half tank or on empty. It costs the same per week and same per mile. When you reconcile your bank account at the end of the month you will have spent the same amount of money.
Here in south Alabama I had to continue canning on our propane stove when it was storming. Power went out for 3 days, so we continued canning, getting food out of freezer. Well folks, you don't want to be 68 and canning when the house is 80 and the heat index is the 106! It's doable but very taxing 🪖
Houston is a horrible place to live when the grid is functional, Texas in summer is already bad before adding the humidity. Crime has skyrocketed since the lights went out.
SETX has been in demographic decline since Katrina when a bunch of New Orleans people fled to Houston & Port Arthur/Beaumont then never returned. They weren't sending their best.
Loudon TN, so many there that most of the locals either have moved or are moving out. Everywhere you go all you hear is Spanish. Go to the store and they're all lined up with their food stamp cards. Athens and Sweetwater is also getting more than they can handle. Very big jump in crime, my grandmother and aunt had a group try to jump in their car one evening a few weeks ago. Luckily a home that was close by heard the car horn and came running out with a pew pew... it wasn't the first time and the guy has been on alert.
Oh my, we live in Seymour and we’ve been looking in Loudon, Monroe, Roane counties to move because we’re(Sevier County) over run with them and they do not assimilate are rude and not clean up after themselves. The prices here are unaffordable for the locals , it’s all being done by design. I might go as far as Rhea or Meigs County.

Great video ❤, I'm in TX, just talking with a coworker today, he bought a predator generator at harbor freight, uses gas or propane. Probably going to pick one up, to back up solar gen I already have. Benefit propane doesn't expire, so can stock up.
I recently had a small setback. Fell and broke my ankle in 2 places. Preps have kinda had to go on hold for a short period of time. May be out of work for up to a year. The only reason I tell this story is because you never know when you might need to be prepared. A small SHTF can happen to anyone at anytime. Be prepared as much as possible!!!!
i was trimming tree limbs at my fathers' place a week ago. hickory tree limb. had a 25' pruning pole saw. cut through 99.9% of the limb when it went. was a twisted limb with some offset branches, so on its way down it started chasing me. i assumed it would have fallen more downwards but instead it moved laterally about 10' right towards my face. i did a little backwards sideways shuffle but the root of the limb slammed down on the inside heal of my right boot. caught me like a mouse in a trap. i had work boots on with reinforced heel n' toe cups. just barely bruised my heel. so glad i had on my boots. fairly sure i would have a broken ankle if it hadn't been for my boots.
My 2004 Ford Focus ZX5 2.0 OHC. Speedometer goes up to 140 mph. That's why I bought it. Turns out it shuts down at 105 mph. I called Ford and they said it was a Rev Limiter used to avoid engine failure at high speeds. The word for that is A GOVERNOR! Ripped off again.
They claimed that over 2.5 million people were without power for a week. That's a lot of desperate souls looking for relief. And this is only a small fraction of a state was affected. Also power company lineman are being attacked and assaulted by angry "supposed residents." Crews have been reported as packing up and leaving because of this.
Sounds like the power outage is good practice for something long term. Experience is the best teacher and now he'll know what to stock and how to make adaptations. We unexpectedly lost running water yesterday for a few hours. Trying out what I had planned showed me where to make changes to be better prepared.
Not just to get the stuff but to actually use it and try it out and practice practice practice practice practice... This was a great help thank you so much Dave
My dad lost his big generator during the outage. I'm not mechanical so I don't remember what hubby said went wrong with it. He had a 7500 or 7700 gas generator also. It died as well. We took our smaller one over when our lights came on. It wasn't enough. Moral of the story is that you don't NEED to run your whole house and have all the comforts of home. You need to run medical equipment, keep fridge and freezer going. If you live in Texas like we do, an AC is good for the elderly or people with medical conditions. You don't need the water heater on. It draws a lot of power. You don't need every light in your house hooked up to the generator. Also, think about how much you have in your freezer. If you only have $100 worth of freezer burned food you never use, why spend $200 in gas to run a generator for it? Yes, a single neighbor was doing that. Freaking out because the gas station was out of gas. Ummm... you eat out every day and you aren't cooking the food now. At this point it'd be cheaper to buy fresh food when the lights are on again. He agreed with me but still drove two towns over to get gas for the generator 😂 We ran our fridge because hubby has insulin in it and alternated between a window ac unit and our fridge. If our lights would have been off longer, we would have put the deep freezer in the rotation. I know as soon as the lights are out for more than a couple of hours our neighbor has a generator going. The whole neighborhood can hear it. I'd like something quieter than that but I'm sure they hear ours, too. I also stock baby wipes. They are great for cleaning up and getting the sweat off. Even if you are just waiting for the water heater to get hot on the generator. Our wh stayed hot for days and we never had to hook it up this time. Also, keep a few small solar, usb or even electric fans to run from the generator. It will keep you from using so much power for a window AC. And paper plates, bowls and plastic silverware to keep from using the water up. Even if you don't use them all the time, it helps to save water in a crisis.
Everyone in my area uses smaller generators.. it's the people from away that get the big whole house generators. Those require someone else to maintain. How are you going to get an electrician and specialty mechanic for that in an emergency? You won't.
@@SirenaSpades my dad's big one was run by his tractor. He had thought about a whole house one but it would cost a lot even though he is a retired electrician, I think for the warranty it would have to be installed by one of their people. We don't have natural gas here so he would have to also buy a propane tank. We live in the middle of nowhere so, like you said, we wouldn't be able to get anyone out in an emergency.
@@KingRatt we don't have natural gas lines here. Years ago there were but not in decades. Propane requires large tanks that cost hundreds of dollars and hundreds more to fill. And the tanks go out of date. After so many years they have to be replaced or the companies will no longer fill them. That's why my dad and I don't have propane any longer. My husband and I had to buy a new small hundred pound propane tank recently because the propane company wouldn't fill it anymore. We're all electric besides the heater. My dad's house is all electric now. My sister had a very large propane tank that developed a leak. Only her stove was propane when she bought the house. After it was empty, she did away with it and now is all electric. She does have a fireplace though. We just don't have the money to replace our large propane tank and fill it. We were all electric when I married my husband and moved in. I actually have a propane stove in a storage building because I was expecting to go to propane. But, the tank was outdated. However, I did have a propane heater and a small tank so we have that. I'm not even sure how my husband's family heated this house before we moved to it. I guess when they lived here they used electric heaters or portable propane heaters. There wasn't a propane jet for a heater in the house at all. We're pretty rural. I've noticed a lot of people not only going to all electric but as water wells need maintenance, it's cheaper to get the water company to install a line. Upfront, it is anyway. When my dad's well pump needed replacing, it was hundreds of dollars or $75 to get the town water hooked up. He said he wouldn't have to maintain the town water pumps lol There had to have been a well on this property. The old family house didn't have a bathroom or running water until a bathroom was built on later. No one remembers where the old well was. By the time hubby's parents were here they bought this house and moved it here. They had all the modern conveniences of the late seventies 😂 Except central AC and heat 😂😂😂
@@almostoily7541 yes big cost up front but then you are self sufficient and in control of your utilities with a cost savings over the life of it. To each their own. I won’t drink municipal water without and ro system. It isn’t clean as they would have you believe in addition to adding chemicals like fluoride.
Huge immigration in Lewiston Maine due to Catholic Charities NGO from Samali. Caused huge problems. Not just a few. This has been going on for over 20 years and they are just pumping them in. Now the populations are from a variety of countries.
Water is more critical than people imagine and almost always gets either too little attention in emergency preps or left out completely. DIY, cheap online or the best you can find a water still is the only long term & 100% certain solution to purify drinking water without chemicals. Simple rain water captured by a tarp or gutter diverter is good for many things, can be filtered & treated with a splash of bleach for washing or an outdoor pop-up shower to bath in nature in the summer. Black-poly irrigation tubing is cheap and can make an excellent solar water heater with a small solar pump and lay out the loops of tubing in the sun on the ground but be careful as the thermal gain is impressive and can cause severe burns so make a simple pvc mixing manifold or use a cheap shower/tub valve to get the temperature just right. Never hurts to have extra clean tarps, black-poly tubing, garden hose, pvc fittings/valves/pipe, adapters & clamps so you can play engineer in shtf times while all others play dunkaroo with panic buttons. A good test for power is run your essentials on a kilowatt meter to see precisely how much energy you require in a grid-down and add 20% for a peace-of-mind. Even better to have a trio of sources and for redundancy (solar, wind, gen) and take it up a level by adding things like a bicycle generator to stay fit and keep the mind busy in the worst of times. If affordable have a 2nd solar generator dedicated to running a cheap window a/c unit to keep a dedicated room comfortable in the summer and turn it inside-out in the winter for plenty of heat while using the least amount of energy (redneck heat-pump)[see; Tech Ingredients on YT]. Never hurts to have extra components to your solar system and Natures Generator is the most versatile & user-friendly offering heavy-duty expandable options and non-lithium (my personal favorite) and their sale/open-box prices are hard to beat with free shipping. The "Elite" version is a happy medium and if expanded can power most of an entire home (not a sponsor, just a consumer/engineer that did his homework). An outdoor kitchen has endless benefits and can easily be assembled with the smallest of budgets. Cheap camping wood stove and some dry-stacked bricks can assemble quite the station with a simple tin roof & screened ~10'x10' enclosure (framed or safely modify a pop-up enclosure) and you not only have all that is needed during the day but is quite nice in the cooler evenings and doesn't heat up your home. $12 mason tubs from the big-box stores makes durable portable sinks for washing/prep and the same price for decent dish brushes works well, do not use sponges or rags as they hold bacteria. 3 tubs/sinks in a row on a picnic table in your kitchen area is best, 1 for washing (soapy water) 1 for rinsing and one for 2nd rinse/sanitize with a splash of bleach and you wont waste much water cleaning up from a meal or canning by the dozen with your water-bath pot to sanitize/can/heat water atop your wood burning stove. Coleman gas camp stove works well but the fuel consumption makes it a poor long-term solution and get's quite expensive plus propane/kerosene should be reserved for winter emergency heat/cooking inside if all else fails and times get really tough. Hope this helps and wish everyone the best of luck in Biblical Times for the year of Karma has only halfway begun.
You are the reason why I frequent channels like this. I'm not interested in complaints, I'm interested in solutions and ideas. Thank you for your comment.
I live in Tennessee near a small town (for 40 years) that has always attracted illegals because of Tyson & nurseries hiring them. The town has a mayor that welcomes them. Population is about 24,000. Buses bring them in but so do relatives. Local business's over the years have tried to make it here but they always close down after just a little while. I've been told it's really hard to open a business here. Now somehow this little town over the past 5 years has over 40 Mexican restaurants, food trucks, Mexican grocery stores, Mexican flea market, car lots, Mexican realtors, 2nd hand stores run by Mexicans, clothing stores, spiritualist & more! For some reason it is very easy for them to open business's! It's just unbelievable! When you look at the arrests & jail intake it is majority hispanic most driving without license or other crimes.
I am next to New Caney in Porter, and i learned a LOT! I was not as prepped as I thought. Thank God I dis have water but my electricity went up last night (8 days). Note that Entergy DID come through once they were able to get to our neighborhood, which had multiple downed trees all over. At least I kept a FULL car. What I didn't expect was having to drive multiple times a day to keep the dogs from dying, and me as well.
Thanks for the update. We have a solar system also. We just made a decision to get more propane because of this video. Our generator is dual fuel and will be needed to supplement our solar. Again thanks for the update we can learn from each other. Keep stakin packin and praying.
Great lessons for all of us from the prepper's own experiences. Be sure to have plenty of tools, cleaning and maintenance supplies for all your gear. It is easy to overlook those items.
Most walmarts around here in South East Texas are predominantly Hispanic, where its mostly Spanish being spoken, but not TexMex from Mexico. It's progressively gotten worse the past year. There's still people without power after hurricane Beryl. Non profit agencies have offered to come help, but Harris County told them they weren't needed. Yet Harris County Judge and head of rubicon did a press conference asking for people to volunteer. Why would they tell trained folks they aren't needed, just to ask regular folks to volunteer, who would need between 3 hours and 3 days worth of training, before those people could go out and actually help! Makes absolutely no sense at all!!! Each hurricane I go through is a learning experience, and great practice to see where and what I need to work on. We all need to prepare as much as possible!!!
I'm an expat living in Panama since 2020. Myorkas came here 7/1 for the new President's inauguration. He signed an agreement pertaining to shutting down the Darian Gap. We were told he gave $6 million to fly migrants from here to the USA. Panama can no longer bear the expense of the tens of thousands coming here on their way to the USA.
Good on your for reading the story. We are almost whole home solar and I am noticing a lot of preppers really don't understand how fast those batteries go. The portable stuff is so overpriced when you can DIY a portable with the wall mount stuff instead. Everyone should try running their loads on whatever they plan to use so you get a good feel for how much power you really have and how long it will last you so you can plan accordingly. Signature Solar sells a device for solar panels that get shading during the day that will increase efficiency by about 30% for about $50ea. Portable solar panels just do not make enough power to be worth it. You really need to get some regular panels if you want to have power this way and so much more reliable than relying on gas and generators. Our generators are for charging batteries on cloudy days if needed. We have some very efficient but smaller window units with inverters in them that we can cool one or two rooms with depending on the weather and a wood burning stove for heat. I can run my window units off batteries but anything that has to heat is a huge power hog.
I saw a video where a guy turned his air conditioner around and used it as a heater it used 75% less electric then a standard 1500 w thermal heater, it also produced more heat... It makes sense even at 30° outside there's heat so we've just made a heat pump out of a window air conditioner
@@keng528 I can't think of the name but I know who you are talking about. He does all kinds of cool stuff. But we like the wood stove better because it heats the whole house and we can cook on it not having any gas for heating anything. But that is a fab idea. We have some electric oil heaters that run on Eco mode very efficiently when its not cold enough to light the stove too as an option.
Thank you for sharing that prepper's real-life experience. I learned a lot from what he shared with you. I wish him and his family well. Thank you Southernprepper1. 👍
I was in mexico outside of a main tourist area a month ago. I had very little trouble communicating. In Denver I was going into a number of small shops in the area and had a very hard time to find anybody that spoke english. I mean 4 shops. The influx of migrants is impressive.

Crime is up and the roadside is scattered with litter. This area used to be clean and beautiful but not anymore,
I live in Houston, Texas and my family were without power for only 2 days (Thank God, we had our power come back on when it did) Those 2 days were SO much more brutal than I expected. Power outages have never bothered me in the past but it was 98 degrees and felt like 106 due to the humidity being 70%+ I genuinely was getting to a point at home where I'd began feeling really bad, and was saying to myself "You know what, if this gets worse I'm going to have to go to the ER" I feel TERRIBLE for those that are STILL without power right now over a WEEK later! It is absurd! Over 3 Million people lost power, and even right now there are still over 500,000 people without power. Centerpoint Energy are flat out LYING as well - their outage maps are inaccurate, and show many neighborhoods as having power restored, when they in reality are still without power. Edit: Also, to be completely blunt about it, Houston is a real shithole. And I say that because the Lineman who have come here from other states to help restore power, fix transformers, replace electrical components and damaged cables, etc. Are being attacked by people here in Houston! Multiple Lineman have been attacked and hospitalized, one of whom was shot. Imagine what a terrible, deranged (and unbelievably stupid) person you must be to physically attack the people that YOU need help from. While they're here trying to HELP YOU. Additional Edit: This was such an eye opening experience for us, people have died from heat stroke, lineman have been assaulted, every store was out of ice, so many people were running generators that the gas stations have been so busy that they're almost inaccessible (lines of 80+ vehicles waiting in line to top off their gas cans all day long) Fences and other infrastructure have been so badly damaged that many roads are blocked and many people's homes are vulnerable (with no back fence, no cameras, no Ring Doorbell cameras, no alarm systems due to the power outages etc. anyone could just walk straight into the yard freely, diminishing home security greatly). And I can only imagine that the next time Houston is hit with more bad weather and power outages, the Lineman aren't going to want to come here and help us because they know it's dangerous. If this is what a CAT 1 Hurricane and Tropical Storm did to Houston, I genuinely think a CAT 2 or 3 might cause a complete economic and societal collapse of Houston.
We are in rural area outside of major city in GA and see the buses and vans on thr roads all the time and have stores nearby that honestly worry us locals as we are small town and even before never saw store full of immigrants not speaking English. We went to sams club on Alabama side and we were only citizens other than workers the rest were Chinese and had buses in parking lot. It was very concerning and there were few men from some other places and they continued following me around store and had no cart or was shopping. I met up with my husband and they put more space between us but still kept following around. Im retired combat veteran and always carry but even still felt very unsafe situation and was in shock . These people looked and stared at us like we weren't supposed to be there and was so rude . Our areas cant take these people in our community not enough of anything.
The same thing has been happening in Ormond Beach, I hope you haven’t forgotten about me. For some reason, I see a lot of Hispanic females carrying infants & military age Asians. This is happening in Daytona Beach as well. Edit: I just saw a large group of Hispanics get out of the back of a freight truck & came to eat at zaxbys. 7-16-24

No doubt! I drove my mom's 2017? Acura, has lane assist, all those "safety" features. The way the car was trying to pull me back from a lane change (I didn't use my signal, only one in vicinity on highway), was quite startling. Smart "tech" will eventually unalive most of us.
On Jan 1,202 6 it is law that all vehicles have a kill switch. They say it’s to stop you if you are speeding. So what if they use it to stop you in a bad part of town that you had to drive through? Think!
What they are is whater filters. We all need water, wether it's poisoned or not. So it's good to have a way to get any chemicals and impurities out of the water before use. You can drink water straight out of puddles and ponds with some of these straws. I wouldn't recommend doing that unless there's no other option, but it can be done. Just keep in mind that the worse water you filter, the more the "lifespan" of the filter will decrease. Make sure you read the instructions that come with these filters. The sawyer minis I got came with plungers for cleaning them. Stuff can build up and get stuck in them.
1-i recommend solar and tons of battery storage. 2-if you have to go generator, go propane. its cleaner and has a long life. propane will out live storage wise gas or diesel by decades. it can also be used in other applications heat/cooking etc.. be careful, they all produce carbon monoxide EXCEPT FOR THE SOLAR
We live in a small town in Northeast Georgia. We have a lot of chicken farms and chicken processing here. In the past two years, we’ve seen a large number of what we expect to be illegals. Yes they are all shopping and speaking Spanish. My understanding is that FEMA is being exhausted to pay for them. We also see them constantly in our hospital and emergency rooms. Americans are paying for them to be here our will.
My cousin lives in Houston, and this is the third time he's lost power for 10 days or more. I keep urging him to get a generator and a window air conditioner so they can keep their freezer and fridge cold and be able to sleep at night. He's loaded, gambles every few months and often loses thousands, but every time I mention a generator, he comes up with a lame excuse not to. Arghh!!!
🪖💥Talk about being blatant about weather modification: yesterday on Sky Glass, a Cessna weather mod plane was tracked over southern Mississippi and Alabama, then to Georgia and north. Today, Wednesday, perfectly sunny at 3pm (CST) and by 3:10 pm, so black out that outdoor lights turned on! Then unnatural continuous thunder until 3:45. The thunder then stopped and the lightening and huge rain drops prior to a 20 minute storm. Radar registered 60 strikes in a three minute period for this 'surprise' weather activity. Just doesn't follow 'natural' storm patterns.
