Uploading here for archival. Property of Bootsy for sure. I actually didn't even shoot this one, that was Ricky Payne, but I archived it a while ago because it was just too good!
Boosty Collins, former teenage 🎶 prodigy🎵 recruited personally by R&B Legend James Brown at the age of 16 😮. PFunk 🎶 🎵 in its purest form; HISTORY-MAKING, Spiritually-Uplifting, Thought-provoking, Insightful, Invigorating, Spine-twisting, Toe-tapping, Finger-snapping, Head-bopping 🏆 👏 ⛳️ 🏌️♀️ ✝️ 🙏 🤲!!!
Same here! Still got their albums, which I kept in plastic sleeves. Also, 💖 the music he made durin the pandemic, " Stars"🌟 ". If you haven't seen it yet, check it out! Definitely 💯 🔥!
Bootsy Collins, brought the funk, the whole funk and nothing but the funk to the Howard Theatre in Washington, DC on January 23, 2015. Needless to say, he funked the joint up in the best way possible, leaving smiling patrons dancing in the aisles.
How’s about when they broke out with “we like to party” was unexpected… craftsmanship at its finest and funky as hell…Dem changes by drummer Buddy Miles was my first guitar song I knew how to play… SE DC Ballou
It's good to see Bootsy one of the pioneers of the funk still keeping it funky with the tightest band and the baddest video production it sounds amazing my heart just skip the beat when I saw that real funk it's still alive keep up the good works Starchild and do not attempt to adjust the dial
Bootsy bootsy is undescribable.dey don't do dat. Funk like dat🎉 anymore,.he is keeping it alive,.a legend at heart.,,I love his music he never age dont look aday over ,.50 😂,.an can play dat guitar.,dont miss a beat,.love ya bootsy.,funk forever🤗🦋🍓🍓🍓
The Greatest? Really? You ever heard of Motown's James Jamerson, James Brown's Bernard Odum ("Papa's Got A Brand New Bag" and "Cold Sweat" - the very first Funk songs), TOP's Rocco Prestia, Slave's Mark Adams, EWF's Verdine White, TM Stevens, Larry Graham, Bahkiti, Louis "Thunder Thumbs" Johnson? And then along came Jaco... I prefer saying "my favorite" rather than "the greatest" so I don't "diss" all the greats who have just killed it on the bass guitar down through the years. Love me some Bootsy (a great showman) but c'mon, let's keep it real, player...
And I left out "young guns" like Charles Berthoud, Dr Funk, Gev Delano, and Mohini Dey who are just beastly on their axes (see attached samples). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-76yAo3aHPmM.htmlsi=P-CFVjBcFTDQGSyq ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HJq-6y2IYEQ.htmlsi=DvSCRXRyUNeDeeer ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Noc2K5Zk2Cw.htmlsi=4lTOOiFM9gr-LLRu
@@craigj.8539 I would say, Motown's James Jamerson was the standard contemporary bassist but master. However, Bootsy is a space bass psychedelic new-wave. In 2020, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Collins number 4 in its list of the 50 greatest bassists of all time.[3]
@visionworld4426 I don't know what "a space bass psychedelic new wave" means. I thought we were talking about bass players. I'm not impressed by ROLLING STONE's list. GUITAR WORLD ranks the 5 all-time greatest BP as Jamerson, Pastorious, McCartney, Graham, and Clarke (Bootsy comes in at #18), a list I can accept. BASS PLAYER MAGAZINE's top 5 all-time are Pastorious, Entwistle, Miller, Clarke, Jamerson, with Collins coming in at #10. Not sure about the order or how Entwistle rated above Claypool, but, whatever. Lists are very subjective.
Man!!!!! Damn it sure feels good to see this discipline is alive and well!!! All of the funkateers in my area are dead and gone. I have 20k worth of drum equipment and don’t play anymore much cuz it too much competing and judging instead of playing as one unit like this!!!! Thank BOOTSY!!!
Bootsy Collins, since yesterday, is a mystery to me but ever since i was curious to find out who he is..i hear people talk of him and his link connection to what has been labled as funk soul music..i saw an interview of him talking about his time playing with legend james brown ,who i am very familiar with ..in the interview bootsy was talking about how james brown wanted him to always give him the "one" ...that he told bootsy," it don't matter what you play between.." but to alway give him the "one"...mos def not only do i have a new found knowledge of who bootsy collins is but a new found respect for him as an musical artist performer after that interview i have to say..thats all i wanted to say.. thank you very much for your time meow.
Bootsy and his band funked the hell outta DC that Friday night. I was there and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Thanks for posting this beautiful funky video. P Funk lives!!! Funkateer 4life. Long live Bootsy, say what?!!! Bootsy 🎶
Thanks for the post ! The one thing I finally noticed about Booty's style of playing is he's not a "thumber or popper". He just get's in that "pocket" and stays there. Guess when ya got start playing with the "Godfather", ya best be "on the one" and NO place else. "Hallelujah...Glory be to the one who knows what the funk's about." "Glory be the Funk's on me." "You want some ? " 👻Booooo ! 👻
THIS VIDEO IS FUNKY ,THE BAND IS TIGHT AS HELL. THE SHOW WAS OFF THE HOOK!! IF YOU'RE A BOOTSY,FAN THIS VIDEO IS FOR YOU. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME CHECK IT OUT FOR YOUR SELF!!.TAKE IT FROM A TRUE FUNKATEER.
Interesting thing here is seeing drummer Frankie “Cash” Waddy (white suit) MCing and not playing drums. He’s been the drummer with the Rubber Band for over 50 years.
Ok ... it's from 2015 Bootsy is the man ... love his spirit, ' is wittyness .... those tributes are cool ... the lady in the camouflage jumpsuit drives me crazy ...
The Pacemakers, The J.B.'s (James Browns backing band) "Nah, not on it son. I didn't hear the one. You didn't give me the one." On a particularly bad night he called us back and said, "Uh huh, now that's what Im talkin about. Ya'll was on it tonight. Ya'll hit the one." My brother and I looked at each other and said, "This mother has got to be crazy!" He was just pushing my to play better. Next: House Guests, Parliament Funkadelic, Praxis (with Buckethead and Bill Laswell), Bootsy's Rubber Band, P-Funk. "Casper the Funky Ghost", "Bootzilla".
"I give a Funk- yes I do! I need the funk. Especially when the funky Bootsy Rubber Band is in the house! "The Funkateers!" Get funky with your bad self. All the ladies say it- "I give a funk!" Did I mention the funk?
I been following the Parliaments and Booty's since the inception. Have partied with alot if the original members from Funkadelics to now.Still wiiiiindme up.
Funk is structured and on the one… Bootsy was James Browns bass player… sounds awesome and structured funk and not all over the place…no one is soloing over top of one another…
