I had all of Bootsy's albums as a teenager but never saw him live until I was 35( saw funkadelic in 78) but after waiting all those years I went to a show and bootsy reach his hand out to the audience and i missed it, I was like DAM!! But he jump off stage and ran and disappeared into the crowd(to watch the band jam alone) And the next thing I know Bootsy has his arms around me and my lady for about 5 minutes sweating and bobbing his head to the music. I'll never forget that ever!!! OK BYE!!!
Saw this tour in Detroit in 1978, at the old Olympia stadium.... first concert without my parents 7th grade--parents dropped us off lol. First time I smelled weed--there were joints lit up all through the audience lol...concert was doo-doo funky!
Capitol Center had the greatest concerts. Saw Bootsy & P Funk there a few times & always left w/my ears ringing. Bootsy played so loud. Where have all the good times gone?
I 1978, he came to my city with his Rubber Band, and they jammed their azzes off for real, man i can feel that funk from that Space Bass of his that night!
Wow this was 8 years before i was born. Man was i born in the wrong decade for music. This shit is so freaky funky i just grew an afro :) Oh and did i mention im from Cincinnati! Something this funky can only come from one place baby, CINCINNAT!!!
My 1st time seeing Bootsy was @ the L.A. Coliseum.. He was scheduled to come on after the Bros. Johnson who tore it up!! Louis * George swapped guitars right in the middle during their riff on Strawberry Letter 22 ( the bridge).. Anyways Bootzy the character he was wasn't about to appear till the sun was far set which Bros. Johnson were amidst twilight!!! 1977!!! Ghostlyhaberdasheries in effect!!!
Thanks fer posting this one. I had this concert on a cd in the 90s. Had trouble finding this version. My fav arrangement all this time. Now I SEE why. Bootsy is on fire!
BOOTSY was here last year at a funeral and when he got up to say his commentts he said, "Well they told us to only take 2 minutes to speak on Zion bcuz yall know I CAN GO ON AND AN BABA, I ALMOST SCREAMED BCUZ HE SAID IT IN HIS SINGING VOICE. AND THEN HE HUGGED MY TEACHER STANDING NEXT TO ME AND THAT PUT US FACE TO FACE, HE WINKED AT ME IN SOME BADDD AZZZ GLASSES. AND HIS WIFE IS BEAUTIFUL IN PERSON.
This segment remind me of the times everybody got a taste playing instruments in all those basement grooves we did waaaaay back when. Bootsy took that to a whole 'nother level!!!!
@162berto DAMN FAM!!! That was some cool ass shit!! That same thing happen 2 me with Roger Troutman's last time in Seattle..out of all the people in the house he sat at the table with me and my lady friend...Thank U FAM 4 sharing LOVE!! PEACE!!
tooooo funky this is so groovy,, love it ,,,,,,,, a new refreshing after workking on the opera nigthclub and hearing the lame music from today.... love this yeap
It's what AntonioMainenti said: The Pinocchio Theory. Bootsy was chanting the One Nation lyric, but they weren't doing the music from One Nation. I assume you were talking about the horns at the end which were definitely from Pinocchio Theory.
Landover as in Landover Maryland? If so, I saw Dead shows there. Many cool folks and OG's in those parts. I was in a funk band in D.C. This is where racism fades away and we're all JB's children. I miss the vibe so much. I live in a yuppie place now. :-(
anyone know where i can download the live landover performance or get it in mp3 format? id love to have this stuff on my ipod. i like the live stuff over the studio recordings.
You get the feeling that after a few shows, this hot funck just basically *played itself*?? How the heck do you STOP playing one of these tunes on stage?
