By the way, don't let anyone fool you, this is one of the seminal Rock & Roll bands of the 1970s! Parliament-Funkadelic is every bit as legendary as Led Zep or Pink Floyd. Look at all of the cutting edge music coming out of the UK and Europe and you see Bootsy, George & Bernie Worrell all over it!
@mel8517
@mel8517 Год назад
Absolute truth!..Parliament- Funkadelic was right behind Hendrix within similar creative experiences on theirs were more James Brown Funky compared to Jimi's amplifying his own predecessor BB & Albert King, along with the his respect for others Blues than 100 times or even moreso over!

I've failed to understand why this incredible performance by the Funkdelic has yet to receive and Academy Award and Oscar. This is Best Picture Screen Play and Visual, Best Supporting Actors/ Actresses and Best Music....I mean what other proof is needed, but what's amazing is that this shit is close to being 4 decades old and it STILL captures the attention of people today. To say George Clinton's a genius to me would be insulting. ... this cat is wayyyy beyond that. I mean let's keep in mind that Parliment started out as a Do Wop band but George being the visionary that he was ( and still is) manage to high jack James Brown's Band i.e.Bootsy,Catfish, Fred, Maceo and a couple of others blend that sound while still maintaining the vocal harmonies. Listen in 1978 The movie Annie Hall won an Oscar for Best Picture, Richard Dreyfuss won Best Actor for the movie The Goodbye Girl and Woody Allen ( OF ALL PEOPLE !!!! ) won Best Director for Annie Hall ok. So you mean to tell me that this doesn't rival any of these performances and depending on what side of the fence you're on surpasses it. Oh well I guess George said it best......... Funk has it's own reward.

Academy Awards are for Silver Screen Movies.Georges'creative theatrical antics are visual aesthetic looking Stage Performances.He was known to go broke spending all of his own money beyond the bugit on stage props & personal designer made clothes.This is some of the best footage i've seen,aside from the Mothership Landing at the Los Angeles Coliseum in the 70s.The quality of the film is decent that details the fabrics of fashion to the teeth.I'm glad i stumbled on this download and your response.Its classic no doubt about it.

Man...the cats playing the drums, horns and bass are killing it!!! But honestly speaking...the whole performance is astounding and mind blowing in the sense that these cats were so free with their thoughts and creativity which enhanced their coonection and influence on their fans. They definitely took risks that paid off immensely and their followers were crazy about them!

i'm a 21 year old white artist in detroit, and my buddy used to live across the street from United Sounds in a closed down restaurant called "The Place". i've heard a lot of great stories about these guys, they used to eat at the restaurant all the time, and they'd have followers camping outside the studio. for what ever reason, the only music i play on a regular basis is the parliament/funkadelic/clinton discography. that's my music theory in a nutshell.. these dudes taught me how to be myself.

Dig that youngster yourself -- I'm 59 and was here first time round :) But remember, it's not where you're from, it's where you're at. This is truly like music from a different world. I saw them in Manchester (UK) several years after this and it had gone down a bit of a 10-minute guitar solo type show. This is from the peak of their creative powers. Like altonprayer says above there -- they took some risks, and make today's performers look anaemic!

Good for you dont buy into the bs that this new generation of millinials are all terrible at trap rap crap(bein that in many ways, its not too far from the truth)its no ones fault that they were a product born from drugs partyin'& materialism & annointed in a vat of pikachu teletubbie cartoons;where even the characters literally made no sense,.Its just a reflection of what was left to them from the generation b4.That generation was far & few between,who even played instruments anymore.The music industry was tired of dealin with too many personalities not bein on time for auditions to go on at Big Concerts for Show Time.It was bad for business.So instead of 7 peice band from the 1970s there were only a Rapper or 2 & a Dj who produced the tracks without any instuments.So after that 1980s artform was in full bloom using more synthesizers with real instruments.That tree had to be chopped down bcs it was eminating too much light in a dark materialistic world.Or atleast made street life more acceptable & liveable.Until the frequencies of tracks got more eradical beats in reckless times to beef up & keep up with sales. Then Soldier Boy for example was made a celebrity,the message was anyone can do this,and that literally killed the real traditional art of hip hop..But i get & understand it.Its pure expression for the sake of art expression.And there are some real talented kids amidst it,I really dig the rawness of it.Only its irresponsibly overflooded with confused nonsensical mumbling muddy lyrical content.It reflects 75% low IQ of that generation.When i heard that it had to be incomprehensibly so. The message in the music expresses that Something irresponsibly inhumane left kids homeless out here dirty & gritty throwing rocks without any basis or foundation to anything.And to me its the gutter punk rock of the black mellinial generation.Kids were expressing themselves in the underground regardless of any classic traditional form or foundation.But the bad thing is that atleast when nobody was playing the first hip hop or punk rock on mainstream radio.Their was alternative night club workshop forums to express it in its birth conception.To atleast navagate its creative directional sound & someday lookin back at it all will all make sense in some form or another.The trap sound never had that.If you listen closely it sounds like that too.No crews or crowds of other creative critics.or social club group listening to express their own art forums from it.However,it indirectly tells the story of how and why the sound of music changed, only this time not for the better the way it did.And why not,Becaus,it wasn't the best of times in a crystal meth geerated society.It just so happened that a Millenial computor instant gratification generated era simply had the basic technology to push a 'fruity loop' app download and "Presto!" all of a sudden you are a Music Producer.When times change they dont always change for the better;What was cool then,aint always hot now.And rather or not music it may be harsh on the ear.The public only takes what is given.Becaus bcs no one realy knows whats catch on & what wont.it may just be poetic justice towards the complete irresponsibilty of an industrial complexed music machine who by some tech symbiotic gliche in the mainframe of promotion.And without much thought(perhaps by-design for nefarious reasons or not) concieved such creative malcontents full of inane literary concepts in an era where even the characters made no sense.Even Warner Bros.Cartoons has a method to its madness thats universaly attractive.But thats besides the point of pointlessness.Its not supposed to make sense in senseless society.Thats probably why kids truly love Japanese Anime.It deals with both high & low levels of duo spiritualty.Kids dig that stuff.bcs the can really feel it.So as long as ones spirits are kept up & out of a lowly depressed state of existence.Its a good thing.Anything is better the some new wack ass trendy anti-social sad & hopelss morosity of desensitized stoicity.Aslongas they Keep the positive frequencies are kept high by staying Turnt-Up to take it even higher vibes toeven more positive levels,then so be it.Ifnot then its. A bleak day in month of may.I ts going to be your generation after the millenials to clear the toxic air & the waist of any upcoming possibilties of zero-creativity & clean it all up with the vaccum of a new sound.It's up to the young funkateers to change the musics direction.Bcs hip hop is over,so take out the last of its proverbial trash;Go in another direction by extracting what you hav learned so far.& dispense the toxic audio garbage of the audience's funked up minds.'May the Funk be with you Starchild!!'

Just like everybody knows the Beatles by name: (John, Paul, George, Ringo) - to me, I call my P-Funk heroes by 1st name or nickname only: George, Bernie, Eddie, Billy, Tiki, Bootsy, Gary, Glen, Ray, Grady, Fuzzy, Calvin, Maceo, Fred, Catfish, Michael, Blackbyrd, Skeet, Junie, etc. (Shit, I forgot all the girls). I like using their names like they were household names. Like they were those kind of heroes. Maybe there'll be the Chocolate Mothership, like the sequel to Yellow Submarine, one day.

Ok..I thought about that too.
