Quick update!: The page-turn function with the side buttons will work with apps like the Kindle app provided you go to Settings > Side Buttons and set the button controls to Volume. In the Kindle app you need to head to the Layout tab > Turn Page with Volume Controls. This allows the buttons to work correctly.
Thanks for this review. Is there a way of telling which apps are supported before buying? For example it would be great to know before hand if I can download the Marvel Unlimited or DC Universe. Sorry if that's a daft question! I've never used Android so I'm a bit clueless!
@@arte_2735I ended up keeping the Boox because it’s easier to access kindle and basically any app you need but I’ll say the kobo looked a little cleaner as far as color and everything also easier to use. You can get pretty close to looks with boox but it takes a little research on how to best adjust settings. But once you figure it out I think it’s superior product.
It's running 20% faster than the Snapdragon 665 though because it's the 680. Try out Device Info HW instead of CPU-Z. The 680 is made with TSMC's 6nm node instead of Samsung's 11nm node, so it should use less power as well.. and it's from Q4 2021 instead of Q2 2019. Why did you not use the A2 mode instead of Speed to show it playing videos? It's actually bearable there at supposed 12 fps.
@@hosammansor6631 The ones saying it's the 665 are using CPU-Z to identify the SoC because Onyx has not stated which one they use but CPU-Z is misreporting the Snapdragon SoCs. The previous generation Onyx devices used the 662 according to Device Info HW while CPU-Z claimed it was the 665 as well and I've found other reports of misreporting Snapdragon models for smartphones. Device Info HW generally gives you more details about every part of a device, not just the SoC.
@@hosammansor6631 The 662 and 665 are identical except for a differing camera processor and the Boox Max Lumi 2 does not have a camera, so that doesn't matter. I just mentioned it to show that CPU-Z is not as thorough and just states the most prominent model out of the same family instead of the specific model, so it can't be trusted.
I have the book page. It's the same size and format exactly but without the color screen. I reed my manga on it just fine. The seven inch display is just big enough to read manga comfortably, but if you want to have more space, you can go for one of their 10.3 inch E ink tablets.
Wait, so there's no X mode? Then it's not a tablet, just an e-reader siince you can't watch movies or play games on it. My Boox Poke 5 has the X mode, I watch movies and play games on it regularly and the experience is very good.
The ghosting can be addressed by setting one of the buttons to refresh on a long press. I have the bottom button set to refresh if you hold it down for 0.5 seconds. It makes the ghosting issue a non issue
