"Your gonna look like a monkey" is my favorite.. Boozoo Chavis is underated. I first learned about zydeco when Rockin Sydney's Toot Toot went main stream early eighties. This music is alive! It makes one want to dance, move,do some chores, tap your foot..something!
My step daddy knew the guy, ad was cousins with Sydney Simien. I grew up on this music. I'm stuck back in Pennsylvania where I was born, but I'll always consider myself a Lake Charles, Louisiana gal!!
I knew Boo-Zoo. Used to go to his place in Dog Hill- outside of Lake charles La. I was friends with his son in law Lionel Trail, who was married to his daughter Lisa. He was a good man. James dansereau
Dad lived in Lousiana in his past life he says. I have memories going to cajun festivals in my childhood in Sweden. Jambalaya!! Food is like blues. The holy trinity. 3 chords. Then you improvise the rest. Thats what my dad says!!!
Reminds me of things my step daddy, Andrew P. Lebleu and the things he would say. From north of Lake Charles, Lebleu settlement. Long live all our Cajun roots in all our memories of those past before us.
I was born in Port Arthur Texas and have always given credence to my roots. It’s cultural, not geographical. I have true Creole Pride that goes far beyond cuisine…its our way of life and my upbringing. I’m so grateful to God to have a RICH heritage.
