As a Branch Manager and an ACE, this technique will only help for subterranean termites. Drywood termites will get in from above, thus, the entire structure needs to be treated. Fantastic product overall.

Great video. My problem is a 2 story building built in 1940 with 6 apartments on the 2nd floor and multiple businesses on the 1st floor. I'm seeing on floor 2 in a corner apartment only evidence of swarmer termites. Can I spot treat with this product or is there a recommendation you can give me that I can do myself? Btw, every Feb-march I spray a perimeter around the building and any of the remodel work we have done (gutting apartments to the studs walls and floors) I have saturated all new and existing wood with a product called termidor sc. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jim G.

Great video, but it would appear that you do not live in a southern coastal state or California. In these places we also have drywood termites that do not enter from the ground. It is quite common for drywood termites to enter into the attic or around windows through cracks and crevices or pipe and electrical penetrations. Therefore, if you live in an area where drywood termites are a problem, then the Bora-Care should be applied to all wood surfaces, including the roof structure. If it's wood, then it needs to be treated. If you live outside of an area where drywood termites are a problem, then what you showed is exactly spot on. Don't feel bad for not mentioning it though. I did all my pest control in the north and midwest and I never gave a thought to drywood termites either until I retired and moved to Florida. There are all kinds of pests down here that folks up north do not have to deal with, so pest control is a whole different ball game here. Anyway, you did a great job showing how to apply the product. Very professional. I enjoyed watching it and I will pass it along to folks who need to know how to do it.

I have an gazebo that got infested with termite (less than 20% ). Would you please give advice for (1) treatments and (2) prevention for further damage. Bora-care seems to be a good choice; do I need to remove all the paint before spaying bora-case on them?
@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 2 года назад
@@tomyang5991 Let's start with the Bora-Care. If all the wood is treated with Bora-Care, then that will kill and prevent all species of termites permanently. The problem is though that you cannot apply Bora-Care to painted surfaces. It must be applied to bare wood. So, if the gazebo is painted, then I think it would be way too much work to try to strip off all the paint. The good news is that termites can be treated and prevented in other ways as well. How you do that will depend on the species of termite that you are dealing with. Please do not panic, determining the species is not as complicated as you may think. Actually, it's pretty simple. Sure, there are probably about 2000 different species of termites in the world, but the truth is they really only come in two flavors. That is to say, they either attack from the ground or from the air. If they attack from the ground, then they are subterranean termites and we treat them and prevent them the same way by treating the ground surrounding the gazebo. If they attack from the air, then they are most likely drywood termites, and we treat the individual galleries that they created in different places in the gazebo. To prevent them in the future, we simply spray pesticide on all surfaces of the gazebo every three months. So, the question is, “Do you have the kind that attack from the ground or the kind that attack from the air?” To find out, all you need to do is watch my video on how to identify termite species. I will place a link below for that video. Once you know the termite species that you are dealing with, then all you need to do is watch my videos on either subterranean termites or drywood termites. I will place a links below for all of those videos. Now, if you live in an area where both subterranean and drywood termites are a problem, then it would be a good idea to do a prevention treatment for both of them. I am so sorry for asking you watch more of my videos, but they will provide you with the information that you need. After you determine the termite species that you have and you have watched the videos pertaining to that species, then please get back to me and ask whatever questions you like and I will do my very best to assist you. The video you are watching is for new construction only and you CAN treat the whole house especially if you live in areas with Drywood termites or Formosan termites that can attack a home from the air and establish colonies that don't connect to the ground. The 2' band is to prevent subterranean termites, which attack a structure from the ground and must remain in contact with the ground. The termites cannot eat the wood in the 2' band and they cannot build mud tubes over Bora-Care treated wood to get reach the rest of the structure. So when you treat all the wood that contacts the foundation 2' out in a continuous barrier you will protect the home. If there is already a termite infestation you need to treat all accessible wood.

what is the advantage of using the product over just using borax?
@NisusCorp
@NisusCorp 6 лет назад
Good Question! Three main reasons. 1. Highest Active - Bora-Care patented formula of multiple glycols and disodium octoborate tetrahydrate gives you the highest active rate of 23%. Products like our Tim-bor can only achieve 15% 2. Deeper Penetration - The glycol formulation helps Bora-Care penetrate deeper into wood compared to DOT or borax which would just be a surface loading. 3. Stops Termite Tubing - Bora-Care’s unique formula stops termites from building mud tubes across treated wood, concrete and other building materials. When the termites attack they build mud tubes. As they build the Bora-Care re-liquifies and kills the termites as they build the tube. Other borate products do not stop tubing. This is what allowed us to get EPA approval as a stand-alone termite pretreatment using a 2-foot band treatment. With other products you will need to treat all the wood in the structure. Florida also has this requirement to prevent tubing and no other products has passed the test.

Does this work by DETERING termites from eating the wood or by KILLING them once they take a bite or walk on it?
@NisusCorp
@NisusCorp 2 года назад
The active ingredient in Bora-Care is a borate salt. Borate salts work by taking advantage of a unique feature in the biology of termites, ants and other insects. If ingested by ants, beetles or termites, the insect becomes unable to extract nutrition from its food and starves to death. And because of this unique mode of action, insects cannot develop a resistance, ever. Bora-Care works differently than most other insecticides, termiticides and even other borate products on the market today. For starters, it isn’t applied to the soil but to the structure itself. Secondly, it isn’t just a repellent or a bait but a little bit of each. Bora-Care’s unique patented blend of glycols in combination with a borate salt provides results that are hard to beat. As soon as beetles and ants attempt to consume treated wood they die. Subterranean termites won’t even try to eat treated wood and if they attempt to build a tube on treated wood, the termites start to die. This alerts the termite colony and they abandon the wood.

Hi Gloria -- Bora-Care must be applied to bare wood. So if wood has been varnished or painted, that coating must be removed before Bora-Care can be applied. Once applied wood can be painted, stained or varnished after 24 hours.
