Also, this was my very first video, so I was not exactly clear that it is a good idea to use Taurus SC for your first treatment and then you can use Talstar P for all other treatments, every three months. If you want to save some money, you can use Bifen IT or Bifen XTS instead of Talstar P. Same thing, but the Bifen products have a bit of an odor to them until they dry. The XTS seems expensive, but it is mixed at 1/3 oz per gallon, so it goes three times as far and ends up being the least expensive option. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. For some reason RU-vid held your question for review. I was only able to get access to it today. Thank you so much for those kind words. Very much appreciated. I am so sorry that you're having these pest problems, but I think I can help. The thing you need to understand about pyrethrums is that they are excellent to achieve a fast knockdown of just about any pest you can imagine, but they have very limited residual properties. The company may claim that the product will last up to 30 days outdoors, but I think that's a real stretch. The truth is that they will probably stop working soon after the liquid dries. Unless you soak your lawn really well with it, then you probably are not going to reach many of the pests that are harboring near the dirt. That's a lot of soaking, even with the hose end sprayer. If you use Bifen XTS with a hose and sprayer, it still may not get down to the roots and the dirt, but it does have at least a 60 day residual action, so any pests that venture onto the treated area are going to die within a few hours. You are doing the right thing treating the fire ants with the Ortho Fire Ant Killer, but you should treat your entire yard with the Bifen XTS before you apply the fire ant killer. This way, any new mounds that try to form will come in contact with the pesticide and they will die out before they even get started. I treat my yard every 60 days and I have no fire ants, or any other kind of ants for that matter. I always know when it's getting time to retreat, because I start to see a couple of ants on the sidewalk here and there. If I look at the calendar, then sure enough, it's been about 60 days. When I first moved here about 12 years ago, this place was loaded with fire ants. After I did this treatment, I haven't seen any since. In addition to treating the yard, you also need to treat around windows, doors, electric meters, pipe penetrations, fascia boards, and soffits. I know full well that I'm not supposed to do it this way, but the truth is that I do all of this sort of treatment with the hose end sprayer. It is true that I am applying way more pesticide on the house then I should, but it sure does make the process go way faster. When I treat my fascia boards and soffits, it's like rain falling down. What drips off the house also helps to treat the ground under it. So, I am not concerned about it one single bit. A hose end sprayer makes the job go quick and easy. The only draw back is that it is a little messy around the windows, so you are going to get a lot of the pesticide on the glass. That does help prevent the bugs, but it does make the glass look dirty. That dingy look on the glass doesn't bother me, but if you don't like it, then you do need to use a tank sprayer to treat around the windows. I promise that if you do these procedures, then the vast majority of your pest problems are going to be over. Keep in mind that there are just a couple of pests that are very stubborn and require a more expensive treatment. These would include things like fleas and midges. Those guys can be really tough to treat. You almost must use some sort of IGR to get to them and that is very expensive. So, unless you have biting midges or a serious flea problem, the Bifen XTS is going to do a wonderful job for you. You do not need to worry about the dog rolling around to the grass. This product is safe enough for children to play on after it dries. So, just keep the dog in the house until the pesticide is fully dry. This usually takes no longer than 2 hours. It sounds like you watched my videos already on how to do this stuff, but I will give you the links anyway just in case you didn't. I don't know what to tell you about the pyrethrin. It won't be of much help to you. I can be handy for gardens though. I hope that helps. Be well my friend. Thanks. Please note that you can alternate between the Taurus SC and the Talstar P. That is to say, that you can start with the Taurus SC, then three months later use the Talstar P, then three months later to go back to the Taurus SC, and so forth. The Taurus SC is a great product to use, but it is only labeled for use every six months, but it only lasts about 3 months. I don't think I was really clear in the video about that point. If you would like to save some money, you can use Bifen IT instead of the Talstar P. They are the same product, but the Bifen is a bit less expensive Also, the sprayers that I show in the video are no longer available. I purchased mine several years ago from Amazon for about $40 I think, but they don't sell them anymore. I have been looking for inexpensive sprayers to share with others ever since I did this video. The ones from Harbor Freight turned out to not be battery operated. Anyway, I have found one for about $80 on amazon that is a two gallon sprayer that I think will work. It's about the cheapest one I have found and I will place a link below for it in case you are interested. It's not a backpack sprayer, but it should get the job done. I have not used it, so I can't endorse it, but from what I can tell, it should be okay. The good news is that the sprayers last for years if you take care of them. I hope that helps. I wasn't very clear in the video about this point because it was the first video I ever did and I was still getting my "sea legs" so to speak, but I think it makes the most sense to do the first treatment with Taurus SC and follow up treatments with Talstar P. If you would like to save some money, you can do the follow up treatments with a Bifen product. It's the same thing as Talstar P, but it costs less. It has a slight odor to it, but I think that's fine when you are using it outside. The odor goes away after it dries. There are two versions of this product. There is Bifen IT and Bifen XTS. The Bifen XTS costs more per gallon, but the dilution rate is 1/3 oz per gallon, instead of the one ounce per gallon dilution rate for the Bifen IT. So, one gallon goes three times as far. Currently, Bifen IT is selling for about $62 a gallon and Bifen XTS is selling for $162 a gallon. Sense one gallon of Bifen XTS is the same as 3 gallons of Bifen IT, it is really only costing about $54 a gallon for the Bifen XTS. That is not a huge savings, but every little bit helps. Also, the Bifen XTS works way better if you need to use it in a hose end sprayer. This is the sort of thing that you would do if you are treating your lawn. The Bifen IT has a consistency much like milk, which is a bit thick for hose and sprayers, even if you dilute the product significantly, and then it often clogs the sprayers. The Bifen XTS has a consistency like water and the hose end sprayers pick it up very easily. Either product is fine for tank sprayers that you pump up or are battery operated. So for me, I do the initial treatment with Taurus SC and then all follow-up treatments with Bifen XTS. I hope that helps. Be well my friend. Not to fear Winnie, this is not as difficult as it may seem. Just a couple of things you may want to take note of though. The sprayers that I mentioned in the video are no longer available for purchase. I have been looking for a good, yet cheap, battery-operated sprayer, but I haven't found one yet. About the cheapest one I can find these days that will do a good job for you costs about $80. Even though it costs about twice what I paid for mine, it's still worth the investment because you are going to save a lot of money doing your own pest control. You will easily recover the price of the sprayer in just a couple of months. I will place a link below for the sprayer that I am recommending. If you want to go for a bit more money though, you can purchase a backpack sprayer with wheels that will work even better. I will place a link below for that unit as well. It costs about $200, but it's really neat because you can wheel it around easily and it does save a lot of work. Also, it can produce a lot more pressure than the other unit, which makes it very handy when you have to reach high areas like the eves. If your house is anything like mine, then some of the eaves are fairly high up. The sprayer I have does not have this type of pressure and so I always have to get out a ladder in order to treat the gables. It would definitely save me a lot of time and work if I had a unit like this, so I could avoid the ladder work. In fact, I'm getting to the age now where I think I may just ask for one of these for Christmas this coming year. Anyway, the other thing that you should be aware of is… I mentioned in the video that the Taurus SC is labeled for six-month use, while the Talstar P is labeled to use every three months. Those statements are true, but the thing you should know is that the Taurus SC does not last six months. The Taurus SC works a bit better than the Tallstar P, but if you're going to use the Taurus SC, you need to do an in between treatment with the Talstar P. That is to say do your first treatment with the Taurus SC, and three months later do a treatment with Talstar P, then three months later, back to the Taurus SC, and then back to the Talstar P, and so forth. The other option is to simply just use the Talstar P every three months. These products work quite differently. The Taurus SC is a slow kill product. It's what we call in the industry a non-repellent pesticide. That means that the bugs do not realize that they are crossing a pesticide and they happily take it back to their nest or colony and share it with the other bugs. That will kill off the entire nest or colony. The Talstar P works quite differently. It is more of a fast kill product, so if the bugs cross it, they are going to die fairly quickly. That means they are not going to have enough time to bring it back to the nest or colony to share it with the other bugs. The advantage to that is you will not be getting any bugs in your house ever, but the disadvantage is you will not be killing off the colony or the nest. With the Taurus SC however, you will be eliminating the entire colony. The disadvantage to it though is that, since it is a slow kill product, there may be some bug activity while the product is working. Another advantage to the Talstar P is that you can also use it on your lawn if you wish. It's certainly not necessary, but if you spray your lawn with it every 90 days, then you will be eliminating the source of the pests that would be invading your house. Taurus SC cannot be used in that way. You should never use Taurus SC on your lawn. I know that's a lot of information to take in and I hope I did not confuse you. Which approach you take is strictly a matter of preference. I can tell you that most pest controllers would probably go with the Talstar P and not the Taurus SC. I think the reason for that is primarily cost because the Talstar P is a somewhat less expensive than the Taurus SC. That's perfectly fine though because just using Talstar P by itself is a perfectly effective treatment plan. For homeowners though, alternating between these two products will most likely yield even better results. Sorry for the lengthy explanation. You need not be afraid to tackle this yourself. After you get going with it, you are going to discover that it's really not all that hard to do. After you do it a couple of times you are going to become an old pro at it. I was struggling with a four-gallon sprayer for a long time before my wife asked me a simple question. She wanted to know why I didn't just fill the sprayer up halfway. I started doing that and it sure did make things a lot easier. Boy did I feel stupid not thinking of that myself. How obvious can it get? I too have had difficulty with getting to those higher up places, so what I do is I only put one gallon in the sprayer now when I try to treat those areas that are kind of hard to reach. Also, you can buy a sprayer that can put out 65 PSI and it will shoot the spray quite high. It is a 3-gallon backpack sprayer, but again, you do not need to put 3 gallons in it. This prayer puts out a lot of volume and so you can complete a job very quickly with it. I will place a link below for it. I hope that helps. Be well my friend. It sounds like you have your hands full with bugs. The treatment explained in this video will help you with most of your pest problems. I recommend that you alternate between the Tausur SC and the Talstar P. Start with the Taurus SC and then treat with the Talstar P three months later. Then back to the Taurus SC in three months, and then back to the Talstar P, and so forth. This approach will be the most effective way to keep the bugs out. If you would like to save a little money, then you can also use Bifen IT in place of the Talstar P. I have found that Solutions Pest and Lawn have the best prices on these products and I will place links below for you. I also like that they always ship for free. There are a couple of things that you mentioned that give me some cause for concern. The first thing is that you mentioned that you have a roach problem. The thing is that not all roaches are the same. The treatment in the video that you watched will stop American cockroaches from entering your home, but that treatment will do nothing for other species of roaches. If you are having a significant problem with roaches inside your home, then it is possible that this could be German cockroaches. If that is the case, then you have a very serious problem. I would urge you to watch my video on how to eliminate a German cockroach infestation. I know it's a very long video at 90 minutes, but you don't need to watch the whole thing to determine if you have German cockroaches. I explained very early on in the video how to determine if you have a German cockroach infestation. If you do, then I highly recommend that you watch the entire video, so that you know how to get rid of them. This is the only video on the entire Internet that can tell you how to do it. Even pest controllers do not know how to get it done and that is why a monthly service for German cockroaches is not going to be effective. I will place a link below for that video. The other thing that you mentioned that is of concern to me are the termites that you have in the old well house. Again, the treatment that I explained in the video that you watched is probably not going to get rid of termites. Just like with the roaches, termites have a variety of species as well. I hate to keep giving you homework, but termites can be a serious problem. So, I suggest that you watch my video on how to determine termite species. Don't worry… It's not as hard as it sounds. There is a map in that video that will show you where drywood and Formosan termites are a problem. If you do not live in the red or orange areas on the map, then you most likely have a common variety of termites that are easily eradicated. If that is the case, then watch my video on DIY Termite Treatment. I will place a link below for both videos. The termite treatment only costs $50. If you do live in the red or orange areas on the map, then please get back to me so that we can talk about your treatment options. You should also be aware that, if you have termites in your pump house, then it is very possible that you have them in your home as well. Please get back to me after you watch the video on how to determine the termites species and I can discuss with you how to determine if you have them in your home as well. Please be sure to read the entire description for those videos. This is particularly true for the DIY termite treatment video. The product that you need used to be sold by Lowes and Home Depot, but they are now selling a new, but similar product that does not work. So, you must buy this product from Amazon and you do not want to confuse it with a similar product, that is made by the same company, but the new product that they came out with doesn't work. I have all of this explained in the video, so you know the exact product to order. Finally, for some reason, RU-vid held your comment for review. I just purchased the Taurus SC and was going to use that every 3 months at 0.4oz. Also, I can’t decide between a manual pump 4 gal sprayer versus the battery powered pump. I know it will be more convenient with the battery powered but I fear it won’t last and break down easier than a manual pump which I assume will last many many years of trouble free operation.

The Taurus SC does work better, but it is mostly used to knock out an existing infestation. You should mix it at 0.8 oz per gallon though. Mixing it at half strength is not a good idea. It only lasts three months though. Since you are only allowed to use it every six months, you need to fill in with another product after three months. You can use Talstar P, Bifen IT, or Bifen XTS. I have found though that, after using the Taurus SC just once, you can just use one of the other products going forward and you don't need to use the Taurus SC again. So, you can alternate every three months, or you can just stick with Talstar P after the initial treatment with Taurus SC. The result will be the same. The big difference is that going with something like Bifen XTS will be more cost effective. The important thing is to do it every 90 days. I hope that helps. Be well my friend.

The new video uses Bifen products, which are a bit less expensive. The Bifen products use the same active ingredient as Talstar P, but at a more attractive cost. The Taurus SC works really great, but it is a bit on the pricey side. The new video will also show you how to treat high up areas using a hose and sprayer. The new video is only 8 and 1/2 minutes long and I think it would be a good investment if your time to watch it. I will give you a link to both videos. By the way, you may want to identify the species of that roach. If it's an outside roach, then you are probably okay. @@GuysPestSolutions Guy, thank you so much for your prompt and thorough reply. I watched all three videos. They were very helpful. I have tried looking up that bug I referenced without luck. It is about half the size of your pinky fingernail, rounded front and back shaped like a bathtub, about 5:1 ratio length to width and only about 5/8ths inch long. We found 3 within a couple of days, 2 in a kitchen drawer in daytime, one dead one behind a piece of funiture against an outter window wall. I should have taken a pic of them. I don't recall the bug having the long antenae like most roaches. Any ideas? We live in NE FL in Ponte Vedra Beach. We have a large pond in the backyard, shrubery beds on the entire perimeter of the house and a pool. I have been using Suspend Polyzone but only treat 2-3 times per year, inside and outside. Rarely do we see a bug inside the house. I use a small Hudson pump sprayer inside and a powered backpack sprayer outside. Probably should increase that to quaterly. Also, I found a mud dauber condo in our attic. I'm planning on dousing that area with Suspend Polyzone too. When the Suspend Polyzone is gone, I will try the Bifen XTS or Taurus SC.

It's a bit of a challenge to identify a bug just by a description, but you may be looking at an earwig. I could be totally wrong about that. I really need to see it to identify it. Most likely this is something that came in from the outside. In Florida you really need to treat every 60 days outside. I live in Florida too and that's what I do. I always know when it's time to treat again because I will start to see ants on the sidewalk. They show up like clockwork just about 60 days after I treated. If I don't do another treatment, then it's a safe bet that I will start to see them in the house within a couple of weeks. If you do the Bifen XTS treatment on the house and the yard, then you will never need to treat the inside of the house, unless you carry in something like German roaches, fleas, or bed bugs. Wasps will never make it into your attic again. My house is 100% pest free, inside and out. The hose end sprayer makes it very fast to do. You are going to love it. You may get some sticker shock when you see the price of the Bifen XTS, but keep in mind that it gets mixed at 1/3 ounce per gallon of water, so it is very inexpensive per finished gallon. It is the cheapest pesticide that I have found so far per finished gallon. One gallon will treat my house and my entire yard 3 times. It costs about $170 a gallon, so that lasts 6 months. So, it's about $28 a month. Most of that is for treating the yard. It is a lot less expensive if you just treat the house, but I don't fool around. My wife hates bugs. Maybe that's why she married me. Lol. I hope that helps. Be well my friend.

I am the person who found a tube inside my house, nothing in it. You advised to pull the baseboard back and I did have about a foot of soft baseboard and I pulled it back and it’s deteriorating. I didn’t see anything behind it. I have used the suggested formula outside about a week ago. I live in NC and I jumped the gun using that I guess. I lost where we first started communicating, but you last told me you would suggest something for behind the baseboard after I pulled it out.

Hi Jeneanne. Yes. I remember you very well. It is very unusual to find termite damage and no termites. It's hard to believe that the BioAdvanced granules would work in just a week, but I suppose anything is possible. I'm still wondering if your neighbor that faces the side of the house where the damage was treated for termites. All subterranean termites live underground, so if your neighbor treated for termites, that may have gotten rid of your infestation as well. Also, you live in a place where Formosan termites are a possibility, but again, it sounds a lot like these guys are gone. Anyway, what I suggested was to locate the wall studs that are behind the affected baseboard and push on the drywall that is covering the studs with a screwdriver. If the screwdriver goes right through or it feels really soft, then you may have an infestation in that stud. If it feels solid, then there is a good chance that the infestation was limited to that one baseboard. In any case, the BioAdvanced granules should take care of it, but if one of the studs does feel soft or the screwdriver goes right through, then you can do a spot treatment with fipronil foam just to make sure that you get them. I use FiPro foam because it's the cheapest and I like the applicator tip a lot. I will place a link below for it. Just drill a hole that is wide enough for the applicator tip to go in and make the hole about two inches deep. Drill more than one hole. I would start at the floor level and drill two or three of holes vertically about three inches apart into the studs that you suspect are infested. Then shoot the foam in for about five seconds. If the foam starts coming out the other holes, then there is a gallery in that stud, or at least there was, and the foam will take care of it for sure. If the foam shoots right back out at you, then there is probably no infestation. Again, the BioAdvanced does the same job, but hitting these things directly is never a bad idea if you know for sure where they are. The fipronil works exactly the same way as the BioAdvanced. The termites will not realize that they are being poisoned and they will carry it back to the colony and share it with the other termites, including the queen. Then it's lights out for the entire colony. Fipronil works faster than the BioAdvanced, so hitting them directly will speed up the process. The BioAdvanced generally takes between two to eight weeks to eliminate a colony and hitting them directly should keep the time down to about two to four weeks. Exactly how long it takes depends on a whole variety of factors, but it should be a sure thing, unless you have Formosan termites. I do not suspect that to be the case though. I can't be certain without inspecting, but my gut tells me that these are most likely a common species like eastern subterranean termites. So, you should be okay. By the way, if you still have the baseboard off, then dig into the back side of it with a knife or screwdriver and see if there are any dead bodies in there. I'm just curious. I'm guessing that you will find nothing, but it's worth checking. If you do find a specimen, then take a photo of it and I will tell you where to email if for a positive identification. The studs are actually pretty easy to find. There are two ways to do it. The first is to buy a stud finder from Home Depot, Lowes, or Amazon. I will place a link below for one. They are very easy to use. Just follow the directions. The other way is to simply lightly tap on the wall with a hammer. The sound will change when you tap on a place where there is a stud. Then just take a four penny finishing nail and hammer it into that spot. You will know when it hits a stud because it will be hard to hammer in. If there is no stud, then it will go right through. A four penny nail is very narrow and you won't even notice that small hole much. Then you can just fill it in with a little spackling compound that you can get from Lowes or Home Depot. Just push a little in the holes with your finger and wipe off the excess with a damp sponge. It's very easy to do. A cheap stud finder only costs about $10 and that should do it for you. This is exactly what a handyman is going to use. Also, almost all pest control companies will do a free termite inspection for you and they will go under the house for free. I would call a mom and pop outfit and not Terminix or other national company. The national companies usually send out a trained sales person and they are often high pressure to get you to sign a contract. The mom and pop outfits will generally just come out and tell you what you have and give you an estimate. If they do find an active infestation, then ask them the species to be sure that these are not Formosan termites. If they are not Formosan, then you've got this already covered. Just thank them for their time and let them know that you want to get several estimates before you proceed. Also, get a written treatment plan from them to see how they plan to treat the problem. You have a right to know the species and the treatment plan. It appears as though you have watched more than one of my videos because you commented on termites after watching this video and not the termite video. I am so pleased that you did that and that you enjoyed them so much. I am thinking that you are asking about treating the crawlspace with the BioAdvanced Termite Killer granules. I have gotten this question before and the answer is no. I do not recommend ever treating the crawlspace with the BioAdvanced granules. The only time you would need to treat the crawlspace is if the termite colony was located directly under the crawlspace. While this has been know to happen, it is quite rare. The infestation is almost always outside the footprint of the home and fairly deep underground, either somewhere in your yard or a neighbor's yard. Subterranean termites always colonize in the ground and never in your home. They must return to the ground and the colony fairly often to obtain the moisture that they need to survive and to bring food back to the rest of the colony. The BioAdvanced granules work because the granules release a pesticide that the termites have no choice but to pass through on their way home. It is nonrepellent, so the termites do not even know that it's there. This pesticide does not kill immediately, so the termites bring it back to the colony and they share it with the other termites, including the queen. After that it's lights out for the entire colony. Since this pesticide is a slow kill, it takes about four to eight weeks for the entire colony to die off. This is not a problem because termites are slow eaters and they will not do much more damage in this short period of time. If you are still seeing activity after eight weeks, then you may have a colony under the crawlspace and if that is the case, then get back to me and I will tell you exactly how to treat for it. I doubt if that will be the case though. Finally, if you are seeing mud tubes, and I'm guessing you are, then you can give the process a boost if you like. This is an optional treatment to add to the BioAdvanced granules that is not necessary, but will speed up the process. Just break open each mud tube about two inches long and shoot a fipronil foam onto the surface where you made the break and shoot some inside the tube. The fipronil foam works the same way as the BioAdvanced granules, but it's great because you are hitting the termites directly. They will rebuild the tubes and happily take the fipronil back to the colony. I will place a link for it below. Any fipronil foam works, but FiPro is the cheapest and it is only available from Solutions Pest and Lawn. You can get similar products from Amazon, but be sure that the active ingredient is fipronil. After about eight weeks, break open one of those mud tubes and see if there is still activity. My guess is that you will not find any, but if you do, then get back to me. Finally, for some unknown reason, RU-vid held your commend for review. Sometimes when they do this I don't get to answer the comment. If you write to me and I don't answer, then RU-vid is blocking you. This has happened to me about four times so far. Springtails need moisture to survive, and they eat decaying matter and mold, so if you have them indoors, then lowering the humidity and removing any mold will help a lot. Most of the time, these guys hang out in bathrooms and other areas of high moisture. The good news is that they do not travel very far from their nests, and that is why you don't see them everywhere. The way I treat them is to use a deltamethrin dust. The one I like to use is D-Fense dust. You simply fill a duster halfway and then dust pipe penetrations, under baseboards, and any other cracks and crevices where you are seeing these guys. You want the exit tube on the duster to be at the top. The deltamethrin dust is waterproof and it lasts about eight months. They get into your house from the outside, so doing an exterior treatment, including the yard, would be a good idea. I will give you a link to my video on how to treat your yard. Hi Gustavo. The truth is that I am more of a bug guy than an arborist. In fact, if you want to kill a plant of any kind, other than weeds, then just place it in my care. If I had to grow my own food I would starve to death. Anyway, I did some digging for you and it would appear that this could be caused by a couple of types of fungus. How to treat it depends upon the kind of fungus you have and you can tell by looking at it. I will place a link below for an article I found on the subject. Once you have identified the fungus, then you can probably find a solution to the problem by simply going to a local nursery and asking them how to deal with it. Virtually all of the liquid products depicted in my videos are perfectly safe for kids and pets, after they are dry. So, just keep the kiddies in the house while you are applying the pesticide. It dries very quickly, so they will not have to be in there very long. After that, they can play on it all they want. It is a little-known fact that there was a law enacted by congress in the late 1990s that required all pesticides to be safe for children after they have dried. Hi Steve. There are any number of ways to deal with spiders. Sometimes the best way to do it is to simply knock them down with a broom and step on them. When you remove the webs with a broom, you also remove the egg sacks as well, so no more spiders. You can also use a vacuum to do the same thing, then just throw away the vacuum bag or clean out the container if there is no bag. Shop vacs are great for this job. Another way to do it is to mix up some of that Talstar P and spray the webs. This product has a fast knockdown and a residual, so that it will kill the baby spiders when they emerge. Of course, that will not remove the webs and who wants a bunch of spider webs all over the place? So, again, removing the webs with a broom or vacuum is probably the best thing to do. The exterior treatment described in this video will prevent them from entering again. I hope that helps.

Hi Jay. Good for you doing your house yourself. You can do it better and cheaper than the pros. You can spray virtually any pesticide directly onto concrete and into any cracks and crevices, including expansion joints in concrete. The Taurus SC is no exception. You want to spray it anywhere a bug could possibly enter the building. I always spray the driveway in front of the garage door and along both sides of the driveway where it comes in contact with the lawn. Anywhere dirt meets concrete is a breading ground for bugs and I soak those areas really good. I spray all the expansion joints and any cracks as well in the driveway and the sidewalks. You literally cannot over do it. After it dries, it is perfectly safe for people and pets to walk on. I hope that helps.

Hi John. It works the same way with slabs or any concrete surface. Just use the product around the slab as shown. It is also the same for decks, except it's great if you can actually get under the deck and apply the product along the slab where the deck is attached to the trailer. Also, it's a good idea to place the product around all the deck posts. If you cannot get under the deck, then it would be a good idea to remove a deck board next to the trailer to get the product next to the slab. However, if you cannot do that either, then just use the product around the deck. Sorry that it took a week to answer this, but RU-vid held your question for review. I have no idea why, but I just received it this minute. Sometimes they do that and in a couple of cases they didn't let me answer for some reason. Photos do help me a lot. It's almost like being there and it allows me to get it right every time. That being said, it sounds like you have a typical house with a Florida room in the back and an attached garage with a concrete driveway. If this is the case, then just treat around that Florida room the same way as the rest of the house. A concrete driveway that leads up to an attached garage is admittedly a week link, but if you treat both sides of the driveway, it is unlikely that you will have a problem. It can happen, but it's pretty unusual. If you should start to see activity around the garage doors, then we would need to treat that one area differently. So far, I have only run into that situation one time and that was because it was not possible to treat the sides of the driveway because it was a tuck under, with concrete walls on each side of the driveway that were six feet tall. So, there was no way to apply the granules on the sides of the driveway. Other than that, I have never run into a problem. I hope that helps.

Just purchase any battery-operated sprayer from Amazon and you should be okay. Just do the first application with Taurus SC. After that you can use Bifen XTS. I don't show it in the video, but I it's a cheaper way to go. It looks expensive, but it gets mixed at 1/3 oz per gallon, instead of 1 oz per gallon like Talstar P, so it goes a lot further and ends up being a bit cheaper per finished gallon. I hope that helps. Hi Joe. Yes, I do have some thoughts. First, you should know that the termites that have wings are called swarmers and they are made up of new queens and kings that are looking to start a new colony. They only live a short time when exposed to the air, so if they cannot find a place to start the colony, then they will die. Hence the dead bodies. Now, if you just find the wings, then it begs the question, "Where are the bodies?" Swarmers shed their wings before establishing a new colony, so if there are wings and no bodies, then they may have succeeded in starting a new colony. Here is where it gets interesting and perhaps somewhat confusing if you don't know how termites work. You live in an area where there are basically three kinds of termites. You have the plain vanilla subterranean termites, drywood termites, and Formosan termites. Mud tubes are only created by subterranean termites and Formosan termites. Drywood termites do not create mud tubes, so I think we can rule them out. The plain vanilla subterranean termites typically build the mud tubes low to the ground and eat their way up, so it is not common to see mud tubes too far from the ground, unless the infestation has been around for a long time. That makes me wonder if these guys are not Formosan termites. These guys often build the mud tubes on upper levels of the home and unlike other species of subterranean termites, Formosan termites have the ability to colonize in your walls. Other species of subterranean termites must return to the ground fairly often to obtain moisture and to feed the rest of the colony. Formosan termites do not. Many of them will return to the colony, but some may well build "cartons" inside your walls to create sub-colonies and those termites never need to return to the ground. Also, Formosan termites are the most aggressive eaters in the termite world. They are capable of doing a lot of damage really fast. Obviously, I have not inspected your house, but if I were a betting man, just based on what you have told me already, I would put my money on Formosan termites. I may be wrong, but that seems to be where the road will lead. However, you need to be sure. So, my recommendation is to call a pest control company and ask for a free inspection for termites. Just about all pest controllers will do the inspection for free. After the inspection, ask them what species they are and ask them for a treatment plan. You have a right to know what the species is and how they plan to treat them. I like the mom and pop outfits the best because they usually do not use the high pressure sales tactics that the national companies use. Most of the time the national companies are sending a sales person that wants to get you to sign a contract. The local folks usually have no sales training and the person that inspects your house is most likely the person who will treat it. Naturally, they will give you an estimate. When they do, just tell them that you will be getting several estimates, thank them for their time, and tell them that you will get back to them. Again, be sure they list the species and treatment plan on the estimate. You want to know the chemicals that will be used and where they will be used. Most likely they will trench the house, but for Formosan termites it will require interior treatment as well. Once you have this information, just get back to me and I will guide you further. Hi Marwan. Treating over pine straw with these products should be fine. Just be sure to use enough of the product. You want to soak it really good where the foundation meets the dirt and you want to be sure that you use enough so that the liquid gets through the pine straw to the ground. The bugs are going to be traveling under the pine straw, so that's where the product needs to be. Naturally, moving the pine straw is a sure thing and will take less treatment, but I think just soaking it really good would do the job too. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

If you have a suspended ceiling you can treat all the wood above it with Bora-Care. That is a permanent treatment that never stops working. Great question. I use dusts all the time inside and they can be very effective for exterior use as well. The problem with dusts when used outside is that they are easily washed away by the rain, so their use is limited to areas that are not exposed to the weather. So, you can use them in cracks and crevices under eves, around windows, doors, and so forth, where they won't get washed away. The best dust to use, in my opinion, is a borate dust like Nibor-D because it lasts forever, is nontoxic to people and pets, and it does not lose it's effectiveness when exposed to water. The reason I did not mention the use of dust is because dusts alone will not get the job done and they are not necessary if you treat the exterior every three months. I hope that helps. How close are the holes? The problem is that the termiticide may not expand underground so that there is a continuous barrier. The material that goes down each hole must meet the material from the next hole. The pros inject it under pressure. You would need to drill the holes very close together for it to work well. I mean like, every 4 inches apart. That is why I say to trench around the concrete. It works just as well as rodding under pressure. Now, you may get lucky and the termites will go through the termiticide that you applied, but they may just go past it too, if there is a gap between the holes. They won't look for that untreated area because they don't know the difference, so it's just a matter of luck. If you get lucky, they will travel through the termiticide. If you get unlucky, then they will miss it and the treatment will fail. Do you see what I am saying? I'm not sure if I am explaining it very well. How well it will work also depends upon how porous the ground is. It will work better in sandy soil than it will in clay. I hope that helps. Be well my friend.

The problems in the past were the basement windows and I drilled the holes very closely around the window. My biggest concern was possible termites already in the house and why I wanted to treat the soil closer to the house. I could have a company come out and use the holes I drilled.

If you cannot trench, then drilling and rodding is your only option, but if you have dirt next to the concrete, then you can usually just trench around the concrete. Remember, the termites are not colonizing in your home and most likely not colonizing under your home or under the concrete. They are most likely outside the footprint of all of that stuff. Since they only travel a couple of inches below the top of the dirt, they will cross through a barrier that is outside the concrete. As long as the barrier is between the colony and the house, then they will die. Most of the time, the colony is within a 300-foot radius of the house. I hope that helps. Be well my friend.

Thanks for the question. The short answer is "yes." You will definitely see a big difference in results. The Ortho Home Defense uses the same active ingredient as the Talstar P, but the Talstar P is more concentrated. In other words, there is more of the active ingredient in the Talstar P than in the Ortho Home Defense. Also, the Ortho Home Defense typically comes already mixed in a hand sprayer that does not apply enough of the product to do a good job. It's fine for treating around windows and doors, but not very effective for treating where the ground meets the house and also difficult to use when treating soffits. So, while the Ortho Home Defense will kill bugs, it will not do it anywhere as effectively as using the Talstar P with a battery operated sprayer. I hope that helps.

Onslaught FastGap is a great pesticide for scorpions and spiders. It should also kill the earwigs as well, but the problem is that onslaught is a very expensive pesticide, so you may not be applying enough of it, or you may not be applying it where you need it. I know at that price, I probably wouldn't be. It sounds like you are doing a good job controlling the scorpions, so I would continue just doing what you're doing with regard to those guys. However, you may want to try an additional treatment for the earwigs. Earwigs are coming in from the outside of your house, so the first thing you need to do is treat your yard. You need to apply a pesticide on your entire yard and up the side of the building about 36 inches. This treatment should be done every 60 to 90 days, but it does not need to be done in freezing weather. I have a video on how to do that and I will give you a link to it. Now that your yard is treated, you need to get rid of the ones inside the house. Apply D-Fense dust under baseboards and in cracks and crevices wherever you see activity. You should also apply it around pipe penetrations under sinks and other plumbing fixtures. It is a good idea to remove outlet covers and apply it between the outlet box and the drywall, so that the dust gets into the wall void. All you need is a handheld duster. Fill the duster halfway and apply the dust with the spout on top. I hope that helps. Be well my friend. Taurus SC is a great termiticide, but for it to work on termites you need to dig a trench around your house and mix it with the dirt. You can't just apply it on the surface of the ground to kill termites because it will not soak into the ground the way the granules will. Therefore, you still do need to use the termite granules. The truth is that it's not all that dangerous to get the pesticide on yourself. I just need to tell you that as a legal disclaimer. You don't want to bath in the stuff, but I get it on me all the time. The concentrate is not good to get on you, but the finished solution after you mix it is not very hazardous. Still, you should wear the protective equipment. The pesticide is safe for kids to play on after it dries. So, no worries there. Start by looking for standing water on your property and eliminate it. Do not overwater your lawn. Just water once a week. If it rains, do not water. Over watering your lawn leads to a lot of gnats. To treat the existing population, treat your entire yard with Bifen XTS. I have a video on how to do that. Repeat the application whenever the gnats start to increase in numbers again. Keep in mind that they are also coming from your neighbor's yard too and there isn't much you can do about that. So, you can keep the number way down in your yard, but some gnats will probably visit you from adjoining properties. So, there is only so much you can do, but this should help a great deal. That is correct. I recommend that you alternate every three months between the Taurus SC and the Talstar P. I did not make that clear in the video. Sorry about that. It was my first video and I was still learning how to do them. The Taurus SC is labeled for use every six months, but it does not last six months, so you need to do that in between treatment to stay protected. If you like, you can use Bifen IT instead of the Talstar P. The Bifen is a little cheaper, but it does have a slight odor to it. The Talstar P is odorless. Tekko Trio Concentrate is an insect growth regulator and not an actual pesticide. It works by breaking the lifecycle of the target pest. One of the big problems with it though is that it is very slow acting. I think it is probably a fine product to mix with an actual pesticide, but I would not use it as a standalone treatment. Most of the pests that are coming into your house, are coming in from the outside. Therefore, if you do the exterior treatment every three months, you will no longer have any pests of any sort inside your house, except for the ones that either fly in through an open door or window or the ones that you carry in yourself. I know that I wasn't very clear on this in the video because it was the first one I ever did and I didn't exactly do a perfect job, but you should know that what I meant to say in the video was to alternate between the Taurus SC and the Talstar P every three months. Do the first treatment with the Taurus SC, then three months later use the Talstar P, then three months after that you go back to the Taurus SC, and so forth. Also, the backpack sprayers that I suggested in the video are no longer available for purchase. I will provide a link to the backpack sprayer that I recommend that you purchase. It's a little bit pricey, but it will serve you well for many years. After you do the exterior treatment, that should end most your bug problems. However, if you already have some pests inside the house, let me know the specific pests you have and I will tell you how to get rid of them. After they are gone, there won't be any more coming in. I am immensely grateful for your thoughtful, detailed answer. I will follow all your advice on treating our exterior. That said, we spend a lot of time outdoors with our pigs, ducks, geese, rabbits and large vegetable garden. My point is that we are likely bringing pests inside with us, especially “wood roaches” and earwigs. Any advice on what we can safely do inside the house?

I don't know that I would be too concerned about bringing earwigs and roaches into the house. They are most likely going to try to make their way through the barrier that you applied around the house, rather than trying to catch a ride on your clothes or anything like that. I think what I would be more concerned with is perhaps something like fleas. These guys are hitchhikers and they will jump onto you and you can easily bring them into the house. Let me know if that seems to be a problem or if you are seeing any roaches or earwigs in the house and we can certainly address any of those issues. After you treat the exterior of the house, you may still see some of those roaches or earwigs hanging out in the house and you may need to treat for them to get rid of them. I would give it at least a couple of weeks to see if anything that you have in the house just kind of dies off on its own. Treating for the earwigs is kind of a pain in the neck, but if you've got them, then you don't have much other choice. If you do have an infestation inside, then you should only have to treat for them once. Wood roaches are pretty much an outside roach and they like to hang out damp areas, but they do not usually survive well inside. Most likely, the ones you are seeing inside did not attach themselves to you, but rather were coming in from the outside on their own. Since they do not survive well inside, there is a good chance they will just die off on their own after you do the exterior application. Evergreen is an okay brand, but the only thing that I see them making is pyrethroid based. That would not be what you want for most pest control applications because it has no residual properties. It's a fast kill product that is used primarily to achieve a quick knockdown and not a long term effect. You want something that uses a good residual ingredient, like bifenthrin. If you are talking about termites, then you may not be able to get the granules there. I think they are only for sale in the States. If you have an existing infestation, then how you handle that will depend on the species. You have at least three different species of termites where you live and they each get treated differently. The granules only work for subterranean termites anyway. You could also have drywood or Formosan termites, and maybe a species that I am not familiar with. So, you need to start by determining the species. If you have any damage, try to dig out a specimen with a red head. Those are the soldiers and they are the easiest to identify. If you have any mud tubes, you may be able to obtain a specimen by breaking open the mud tube. Google "termite soldier species in Guam" and see if you can find photos of the different ones that are know to exist there. You should be able to identify the species because the heads are usually quite different on the soldiers. If you have a species that I am familiar with, then I can probably tell you how to treat it. Just let me know what you find out. If you do not have an active infestation, and you just want to do a preventive treatment, then I can tell you an easy way to monitor for subterranean termites. There is also a way to prevent drywood termites, but it's a bit more work. I hope that helps. Be well my friend.
