MOVIE MAGIC. I'm a video editor and I spotted a LOT of dirty tricks. Here are some things you probably missed: - The insert shot of the book in "Rudy's" hands was likely shot at a different time with a stand-in actor. This obviously would have tipped him off. - Borat's "stick to marrying cousins" line was NOT shot with Rudy in the room. Notice Rudy is not in the shot, but the editor makes it look seamless within scene. - The shot of Tutar (blonde girl) walking towards camera is a continuation of the previous omitted scene where she confronts the disguised Borat and pushes him out of the room. That whole scene was shot at a different time without Rudy. Notice the difference in lighting. Also Rudy (or his people) would have clearly heard their argument. - "Shall we have a drink in the bedroom" - this line was clearly ADR, recorded in a soundbooth or at a different time. Not only is the sound quality/tone completely different, her face/mouth are covered by her hair (purposefully) so ANY dialogue could have been inserted there. Cheap trickery to imply Rudy was knowingly following her into the bedroom under sexual pretenses. - The dialogue in this ENTIRE scene was manipulated and was not the true audio recorded with the video. As Rudy is helping her with something seemingly caught on her sleeve, she clearly speaks but her audio is muted. Rudy also clearly says something a couple times before he sits on the bed, but his audio is muted as well. Before he sits on the bed, both of their audible dialogue is placed when their mouths aren't visible to the camera. When Rudy sits, his "phone number and address" line is placed when his back is to the camera. Why? They had a hidden camera covering his front, so it's obvious this line was pulled from some part of the interview and placed at that moment to make us think Rudy is being creepy by asking for her contact info. - Borat's off-camera line "Put down your chram" (lol) did not happen in real-time. It was recorded at a different time and placed there by the editor right before Rudy sat up to make it seem like he was caught. - The shot of Borat storming "into the room" and past camera was shot at a different time. Also, his "She 15. She too old for you" line was inserted there as well. If you watch closely, his mouth doesn't match the line in that shot...but we buy it since his mouth is moving slightly and it's such a quick shot. - Rudy sees Borat in lingerie. This is the only part of this sequence where what happened in real time is actually what is shown. A whole 6 seconds. Also, notice that Rudy is fully standing at the start of this shot, right by the doorway. When we last saw him 3 seconds earlier, he hadn't even fully sat up on the bed yet. He clearly didn't finish sitting up, stand, finish tucking his shirt in and walk to the doorway to respond to Borat in under 3 seconds. Manipulative editing of shots taken at different times stitched together to make it appear as a seamless timeline. - Her "I'm better than him" line up until her "I can...I would love to marry you" line is all ADR, recorded either in a soundbooth or at a different time. Notice all of them are facing away from the camera so we can only see their hand gestures and not their mouths moving. Also, if you listen carefully you will hear the sound quality/tone change when she says her "I can...I would love to marry you" line (which was actually recorded in real-time along with the rest of the scene). Conclusion: This editor is pretty good and Sacha Baron Cohen is a piece of shit.

This would have been nuts if Rudy was an actor, it would have been bonkers if he did this while method acting, but the fact that he did this while completely unaware that he was being pranked is actually insane. For what seems like a somewhat middling movie, this has to be one of the greatest stunts in film history.
OMG... it's funnier than an SNL skit, except knowing it's true makes it very uncomfortable. Did you see how readily he accepted the suggestion to go drink in the bedroom? There wasn't even any hesitation, or a second of him thinking....really? The bedroom? Why? He just grabbed his drink and went for it.

Rudy went in that room without hesitation because this was not his first time doing this. I don't want to think about how many women he compromised throughout his political career

borat should have gave him a full minute to see where it would have gone xD PS: if you are going to claim Rudy wasnt going to do anything, why was he having wine and asking for her address/phone number? thats not exactly professional behavior

@@Mark-xd5up Maybe he did. But also, it's standard to sign a liability release prior to going on camera. Typically you give media company licensing to use the footage however they wish.
@@VangelisFilms That’s a weird law than or he really was naive and didn’t read what he signed. But manipulating footage like this shouldn’t be allowed this gives off the wrong image.
It's real but its edited footage so not entirely accurate to the IRL events. For example when Rudy does the tuck you can see her turn and put down the mic. When they change camera perspectives they replay some of the same time frame because you can see her repeat the motions. Since editing was clearly done to make the tuck look like it took much longer thanks to that the entire audio becomes suspect. Audio is far easier to manipulate and, shitty as my ears are, some bits of dialog appear to be different quality levels or acoustics meaning they might have been added or changed in post. I suck at audio though, so that's just a suspicion. The misleading editing to double up the tuck time is what I can clearly see and tell you to look for.
Not even close to funny. Edited, camera angles make it so you can not see Rudi's face. Fine for a movie but not truth. Do not believe the sound track Throwing the BS card.
Why would Rudy ever agree to be in a scene like this unless he was tricked into signing off on the interview before hand. That is how Cohen secures his footage.

Excellent analysis. I take notice of how when words are said their faces are convenient out of the shot. Lots of quick cuts and the difference in audio quality/sources are dead giveaway of manipulation. I don't care much for Giuliani either but the blatant attempt to construct a false series of events is shameful. Sad that most people will fall for it. Are you sure that really changes much? At least 2 of those editing tricks you pointed out are purely speculative and aren't confirmed by any real evidence. They also mostly don't really matter for the point of the scene. Lets suppose that every trick you pointed out is 100% accurate. Like why does the scene where Borat is walking through the hallway matter at all? Showing him walking through a hallway is somehow a vital misconstruction of what happened there? And him having not said some of the more offensive lines in real life is also a vital misconstruction? And the line where she says lets have a drink. Lets again suppose that it was completely edited and there's no truth to the line whatsoever. She was holding a glass of alcohol. You're telling me that he had no idea what that glass of alcohol meant? Like he was supposed to get a greater understanding of the situation if he had heard that? So I don't really see the point of pointing out that this is indeed a movie. Even if it really has that much movie editing done to it, it doesn't take away from the real point and entertaining thing about the scene which is the actions that we see Giuliani perform.
@@johangodojolo8652 The fact that you think any of the points are purely speculative and not supported by any real evidence shows you have no idea what TF you are talking about. ALL editing manipulations in that scene are meant to make it appear as though it was a constant sequence of events happening in real-time. Pointing out each manipulation shows just how much the scene was altered overall, and how little actually happened the way the filmmakers presented it.
