Fun fact: Billy Boyd was completely in on this. He and Dominic Monaghan came up with this idea when they found out that Elijah Wood wouldn’t be able to see the German journalists interviewing him. Billy almost participated in the interview, but he realized that if there were two voices, Elijah would immediately know it was him and Dom. So since Dom is fluent in German and could sell the accent, Dom did it by himself. Billy helped Dom come up with a few silly questions, so he was part of this classic prank - but he will be the first to tell you that Dom just let loose and did his own thing as the interview unfolded, and he came up with stuff like “will you wear wigs” entirely on his own.

At 3:58 when dom says "so frodo, " you can tell by Elijah's smile and look to the side that it may have clicked in his head that hes heard that voice say frodo before and i think he is onto dom.
