On August 16, 2018 Ms Franklin, whose music inspired millions over the past six decades, died in her hometown of Detroit. She was in her home surrounded by
Wendy needed to show a little more respect. Also Aretha is no joke, she sings opera, languages. Wendy shoulda done her homework, beyond the gossip. Aretha is a disciplined entertainer, song writer and musician.
As an Aries. Aretha was just having fun. I swear we really know how to get on camera and “act” like we’re divas. We will play that part so well just to get a laugh.
@@Phillyhippie215 isn’t Mariah an Aries? 🤔 you might be on to something girl! I really think she liked Wendy too! Almost like they understand her job and know it’s no mean spirited but will play that “ Diva “ role like you said to make it interesting! 👏🏾
@@Mynameistyshawn yup Mariah is born March 27 the same bday as me lol. She does the same exact thing. It’s all for laughs, the media eats it up. Again I’m like this all the time. It’s literally us making fun of ourselves and not taking titles too seriously.
WW was always real if nothing else. I love how she called Aretha “Miss Franklin” the entire time. I still remember her radio show on WBLS in NYC. Cannot say the same about Oprah.
I thought Wendy was a little fresh an putting Aretha out to pastor. Aretha also sings Opera. She’s no joke and Wendy trying to play. Wendy knows her show writes off the bill with Aretha. Ghetto Wendy.
@@dddddadadad1796 child pregnancies and failed marriages. Fine. Care to elaborate on anything else? See how well you fare if you became a household name.
Aretha: would you be willing to help finance it? Wendy: Oh we’ll Miss Franklin I’m only in the second season of my show. Aretha: Ok check not big enough yet lol
Wait !!!!!! Tell me why I can see her saying that !!! But now that you mention it, she may have actually been thinking it !! I swear I love the comments section of RU-vid, and just in general....these can be just as entertaining as the actual video/interview !!! Thanks for making me laugh....and think what Aretha may have wished she could've said !! I fell out reading your comment !!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I truly miss her. I just feel like I knew her. I’ve loved her since I was a kid. What a beautiful captivating soul. I wish her another great life in the afterlife
Oh man! That was an excellent, real legendary interview. Wendy did a tremendous job! She was indeed herself while still respectful.Wendy is so funny! I love Wendy!❤ I do miss seeing her on the screen.
This interview by far makes me laugh every time. I honestly miss Wendy’s sense of humor. Ever since her marriage complications began, she has not showed this side of her in a long while.
@@dennismclaurin1487 ...Yes, but Rolling Stone knows Aretha isn't the #1 singer of all time. That's a very subjective choice and...a politically correct one. We're talking "art" NOT virtue-signaling. Aretha's wonderful BUT there are Many Singers who could be Number One.
Gosh Wendy sure had a way of getting her guest to answer questions many couldn’t. Love and respect to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin and Queen of Daytime TV Wendy✨✨💫❤️
Love Aretha and how straight forward and down to earth she was.An Elegant Lady. A BEAUTIFUL SOUL. I Find Wendy Williams Annoying,Attention Seeking over the Top and Vulgar
@@MrSpain29 when she lived in Memphis they weren’t rich, that didn’t happen until her father moved to Detroit and started the mega church, look up the house she was born in
Money doesn't make you happy in the ways that really matter. True, the Franklins did have money later on. Along with success comes many problems. But money did not take away the pain from the loss of her mother leaving the family home. Aretha has faced many difficulties. She kept her feet on the ground and was an incredible artist and woman. Johnx
I love the part but I don’t see it here; when they get the bill and Wendy says something like “I’m gonna get you Ms Franklin!” And Aretha says “you would be on the FLOOR.”
Aretha is real, like, black and white real. She can see right through Wendy’s wide-eyed impulsive (possibly drug induced) ‘energy.’ I think she cut right through to the soul. She was always very focused and that’s why I wanted to see any interview with her, today.
You didn't get to see her in this mode often because Queenie could be very guarded but she was almost ALWAYS like this if you saw her in Detroit. She is so Detroit in this clip that I watch it just to laugh. LOVED her. Still do. She was not just the Queen of Soul, she was the Queen of Detroit and we will always love her.
❤❤❤❤❤ God I miss this woman the a list one outside of Ella Fitzgerald n Sarah Vaughn Minnie Ripperton and of course phyllis Hyman ,Tina etc rip ladies ❤❤❤❤❤❤
“We laughed, we cried, we even danced a little,” …so says Wendy. I don’t see Aretha doing much of the first one, and neither of the latter two! Girl, what, Wendy!
Trump became president ,Aretha’s gone, Jennifer did play her in the movie ,and Wendy lost her show after almost 20 years. Life was much simpler back then.
@@Mr.DakotaJace i read comments on reddit and they are making fun of her conditon and her carrer and acalling her horrible. Not once did she say abything. Even the cleft lip drama. She said they were attractive smh! Anyways the people she talked about are not random people. They are celebs who dont need to be coddeled. And her true love was shown in ask wendy. She is the most real and kind but firm person ive ever seen! Curse the jaded millenials!!!
Aretha really enjoys Wendy’s humor. It was evident in Wendy’s first line about the Pink Cadillac. This is one of the only interviews I have seen more of Aretha’s personality. She was sharp, witty, and very intelligent.
See it's just alike in Cissy Houston's book, is that Whitney called Aretha Franklin her godmother, and Aretha Franklin never denied it, so why did she get so mad at Dionne Warwick, and say that she lied on her, and that she was not Whitney's godmother, but she has admitted it so many times, and Cissy said that she was not in the book, she was just her friend, but that Whitney did call her Auntie Re, and that Whitney will often go to Detroit to visit Aretha Franklin, especially when she was doing the movie Sparkle, but over the years with Michael Mauldin, who is one of Whitney's and Aretha's favorite peoducers, he produced the song "Freeway of Love", "Jumpin Jack"(for the movie soundtrack) and "Deeper Love"( Sister Act 2 soundtrack) for Aretha, and he produced the song "How Will I Know" for Whitney, (her 3rd #¹), as well as other songs like "I Wanna Dance with Somebody"(her 4th #¹), and "I Get So Emotional"(her 5th #¹), so is she got mad at Dionne Warwick, she should have got mad for calling her name, up there like she was going to sing, when Dionne knew she was not there, but she gave an interview just the night before, saying that she would be there the next day, singing "The Greatest Love of All"(Whitney's 2nd #¹), and she showed up to the rehearsal, the following night, why the family was viewing the body, at the funeral home, because she had a concert the same night, in NYC and Radio City, which is only 45 minutes away from Newark, so that was perfect, and is no like she didn't call until the next morning, which was the date of the funeral, to say that her feet was swollen so she wasn't going to be able to do it, but she sure did her concert the same night, just fine, so that was more shady than anything to me, because she could have canceled her concert, you can't stay because you under contract, it's your tour, you can reschedule a date or something like that, so even if her feet was swollen, she could have went to the funeral and sat down, she didn't have to stand up but for like 7 minutes if that, and then she could have went to the repass with the family, and he'll she stood up two and a half hours at her concert that night oh, so that was more shady than anything in the world to me, and was way worse than Dionne saying that she was Whitney's godmother, if anything about Cissy Houston and Dionne Warwick, should have been pissed off at her, because what she did was b*******, and it would have devastated Whitney if she could have known, hail Aretha made people stand outside all night long, to attend her funeral, and made everybody who was there, stay up for 10- damn hours, hell the officiant who gave her eulogy, was almost dead by the time they got to him, hell.
What interview is Aretha referring to at 4:51? Don't tell me it's the phone interview with Whitney where WH came for Wendy. How did that help Whitney at all?!
