Border Track Trip Day 3 Part 3 Pushing for the Coast!

Picking up where the last video left off, we're heading to the coast and expecting it all to be smooth sailing, despite the fact that it's much later in the day than originally anticipated.
It wasn't long before we found out it wasn't going to be that way. 12V issues with the 76 rear their head again forcing a change of plan/detour. Ultimately though, we're able to push on and still get to the coast while we've some light left to enjoy it. Epic end to the main part of this trip.

A boring day today so i have binged watched this series today. 30 years of 4wdring has taught me these days to try and stay away from mud as much as possible. After changing a number of alternators and starter motors over a number of years..👌👍

What an epic trip, 12volt Jason, never a dull moment! great group of guys, and yes, need to go back and finish it off. Great suspense for anyone that didn’t know the ending.

Alternator all the way in my opinion, 76’s are renown for the alternators shitting themselves when they get mud into them, terrible design to have them so low on the engine block. Clean the brushes on the old one and leave it as a spare I reckon Jase, as we know how much you love mud !! 🤦🏽🤣🤣

Ronny Dahl has a good video on how to clean the alternator out on the tracks. It's pretty straight forward. I'll be changing mine one day to a sealed water-cooled unit. Great vid Thanks for sharing

thx mate we enjoyed it whole heartedly. Thanks for watching. Yeah possums can be crazy but generally I've found they get into stuff after you've gone to bed or at least moved away from it, this guy did not care!.

Thanks mate, and yes as I said , no point taking tools when you don’t know where they are. I’m no mechanic but we all put our heads together and got through it .

Yeah definitely handy having some mates along. I bring some basic tools but not things like vicegrips.

Not much in the way of supplies at Nelson when we were there. A bit at the servo and at the little general store. Some of the best takeaway at the general store that I've ever eaten though. We have Possums everywhere at our place. We had an Emu knock off a heap of bread and tried to eat our soap on one trip and on the last one a Ha Ha Pidgeon knocked off one of our fat Sausages whilst it was cooking in the pan. Must have a cast iron guts cos the thing was very hot and well cooked.

wow those emu's and that pigeon sound pretty eager!!!! Yeah had some takeaway form the Nelson general store before, they do a great job but yeah not much available - especially after 7pm :-) Thanks for watching!
