If they bring back higher rarities they need to be actually better than normal legendary gear. I never cared about what color the thing I get is. If every pearl in the game is worst than the Unkempt Harold I get in the first 2 hours of the game, then I'm not ever gonna use a pearl weapon anyway. The grind needs to do be fun for them and the reward for obtaining them needs to be worth it.
This. That’s why I never dedicated myself to farming pearls in 2 because over half of them are plain garbage and are better served as trophy’s for the “atta boys” than actual weapons I don’t know about everyone else but I don’t farm for cudos
It’s encouraging to have people like K6 in the community, I completely understand why people like BL2 more then 3, but for those of use who prefer how 3 plays it’s nice to have someone large in the community backing up our sentiment. (Again I’m not saying either is right or wrong it just feels like it’s BL2 or bust sometimes to me)
Not only should they all return, they all need to be in the base game. Anoints are good on paper but in execution only muddied the loot chase. In Dark Souls 2 you can consume an item to make the world state harder, making NG temporarily NG+ etc. What if the Science Machine came back with a new item: Goliath's Helmet which when purchased increased enemy's health, damage, and aggression in stacks along with opening higher tiers of loot such as Seraphs for named enemies and bosses? Suddenly pushovers like Grave Ward are actual threats and are worth the fight.
Pearls and effervescent rarities should definitely come back. Glitch guns are fun but ive never seen them as higher than legendaries. To me they are between purples and legendary rarity because of how inconsistent they are.
Absolutely higher rarities need to return. We saw the impact of a lack of rarities directly in 3 when you have insanely OP over performers like the Monarch, Light Show, and that Maliwan SMG in the Fortnite mode. Those were obvious contenders for a higher rarity and lower drop rate. That also helps thin out the bloated legendary pool. Hell I’ll take side rarities like E-tech or Moxxi guns like in that one mod, just more to differentiate and categorize weapons.
I'm currently playing Krieg on UVHM, and I can understand your frustration. Side note, can you imagine if Krieg was a playable character in BL3? Bloodsplosion with Mayhem scaling would be ludicrous.
I tried so hard to play BL2 unmodded recently and honestly no matter how much love i have for the sequel. I cant get over just how much quality of life is in BL3 base
QOTD: I do like the idea of other rarities returning, but I think there should be more distinction than just 'this weapon does higher numbers.' It would be nice if you got different rarity things of comparable power for doing different things in the game. An idea I had is that maybe a certain rarity weapon could only be gotten from specific red chests, some kind of ultra-red chest that had a very high chance to spawn somewhere in the map that required you to be creative about how you traversed it and where you could get to. That'd be an interesting way of getting players actually exploring the game world instead of it being mostly just flavouring for the same gameplay and quest loop over and over again.
If BL2 played like current bl3, MANNNNNNN that shit would be nuts, but as it is, with slag and all that, im glad im never going back. i LOVE BL2, i especially love watching BL2 but playing it, aint for me anymore. so trust me when i say, i feel you bro
While I would love to see other rarities return, I would like them to have purpose to be another rarity, rather than just be different color for the sake of different color. Be it method of acquiring (for example seraphs being only from raids, or hypothetically making M4/6+ items another rarity), or having a gameplay mechanic that only exists in that rarity of weapons (for example glitch weapons in TPS, or E-Techs to some extent). And if it's just gonna be purely a more rare item rarity like pearls, they should actually be powerful to make it worthwhile going after them.

I haven't played BL3 in probably 2 yrs and recently got back into the game. I was going through my vault to see what I had and found a modded weapon and I can't remember where I got it from. It's a hyperion smg with over 10 billion damage x3 does every element type and has 6 annointments. Haha it's so overkill
Higher rarities should make a return in BL4, but I believe that BL2 had too many rarities; If they kept it to Seraphs and Pearlescents, I think it'd be fine, but having too many alternate tier-adjacent rarities just feels excessive. As for how they're implemented, I believe that all rarities should exist in the base game, but I really think they can leverage DLC opportunities: My one ideal though would be for all pearls should have a common world-drop pool, and if DLCs add new pearls, those pearls should be part of the common pool instead of needing to farm pearls in a particular DLC. Also, if seraphs do return, BL4 should have base-game raid bosses that drop them, as well as each DLC having its own raid boss with associated drops, which was surprisingly lacking in BL3. Sure, there are a ton of raid-boss tier enemies in the base game and the takedowns, but they really dropped the ball when it comes to DLC raid-bossing.
I got back into BL3 after quitting years ago thinking I was no good, didn’t find guides back then, I found your twitch stream and started following your guides. My Moze actually does damage now in M11, back then the mayhems were garbage and hard to find the meta and gear, I guess they’ve fixed alot and now I want to do playthroughs of all the characters again.
I though it would've been cool to have added pearls after launch but for changing existing weapons, like a Masher Unforgiving being a pearl or a pearl hellwalker that shoots out a debuffing skull. Or a useful Malaks Bane
I would say most of the rarities should return. In case they differentiete how to obtain them in compare to the classic 5. E-tech might stay purple, since they spawn in purple loot sources (expect shops and random quest rewards) Seraphs should be alternative versions of world drop legendaries only from Raid difficulty (bosses, takedowns) There Should be specific rarity for quest rewards And Exclusive gear (stuff that's only from single loot source. F/e Psycho Stabber, Redline, Headsplosion. Or Ogre & Norfleet from BL2) Pearlescent. Everything like legendaries, but rarer and much more powerful. Idm them having dedicated sources, but I also like to see them in World Pool. They should be tied to endgame. Effervescent, no clue really, but having rarity that builds sets sounds nice
Better rarities for better gear, and fitting drop chances for endgame gear chases. Also I always figured Effervescents were a wasted opportunity to bring hybrids back, use the rainbow gimmick as excuse to blend rarities and parts.
All rarities should come back. This was a MAJOR misstep with BOTH bl3 and wonderlands . Now on this mod I'm a tad disappointed that old legendary items are just reclassifed under the higher rarity ...new items could have been added
If we don’t get a Torgue gun called the Donk in BL4… I will riot Yes, I know there was a Donk SCAV Pistol in The Pre-Sequel, but guns change manufacturers in the Borderlands series that this wouldn’t be outlandish
So the effervescent/pearlescent/etc is applied when an OP part combo on a legendary is dropped? So you can get a legendnary Koasin and a Pearlescent Koasin for example.... its just letting you know its one of the META combos without having to look at the parts list? And did it put a bunch of new guns not in the game normally, like the Wonderlands mod?
im not gonna lie, getting pearls and effervescents in early new game does not feel right, and so far i havent gotten the logic of what legendaries get turned into pearls and which get turned into effervescents. i also dont really get what the difference is between glitch and e-tech? like the lump has the alien barrel, and i assume thats what defines an e-tech for the mod, so its kind of confusing. i like the concept of the mod, ive always liked higher rarities than legendary, but it being just relabeled basegame items feels a little weak to me
K6...I just commented the other day and said my bro got four triple rolls in one day right...that's crazy luck..today I starting farm for the boom sickle again finally got it...not even ten mins later graveward drops me my first super shredifier haha ..I farm him two more times and he drops a sickle...I check it and it's another boom sickle😂 😂 all in thirty mins...now I just need the cryo boom sickle....can the super shredifier in times 2 come in cryo? I ask to many questions 😂😂😂
I don't blame you for abandoning Krieg, he like Gaige has a terrible action skill, and what's the fun in playing a Borderlands game if you're not using the action skill?
Too bad the rainbow rarity does not change color in the mod glitch rarity does not do pre sequel glitch weapons stuff in that mod if you can tell they can but probably not
That's only 1 of the terrible things about BL2 these days. It was GREAT when it was the only option, don't get me wrong, but the flaws are far too glaring these days
