22:55 to 23:08 made me fan boy so hard. I mean it I adore..... the reference. If you don't know the reference shame on you and your only hint is that it just had a sequel series that ended in December.
Honestly couldnt stand this character. Her role in Pre Sequel is especially annoying. Her character is only defined by her sexuality. As a gay person it is so nice to see some representation, but it doesnt need to be shoved down everyones throat. Hammerlock was the perfect example of a queer person done right in gaming, he doesnt let his sexuality define him...it is merely a part of the overall character. Janey is just that, a lesbian add on with no legit purpose to the story other than, "Im gay, so that makes me important." And as someone that grew up in Southern USA, her "impression" of the Southern Accent was fucking CRINGE. Not everyone born and raised in Southern USA hates gays, so idk why the fuck they chose to use that as a "homophobic trope," especially when they cant even nail what an actual Australian sounds like. Her character really had a lot of potential, but she is just shit.
Hate to break it to you.... but this game was made in Australia... her voice actress is Australian. Also, she really doesn't mention her homosexuality all that much. The times she does is when talking about 1. Moxxi (EVERYONE IS THIRSTING OVER MOXXI) 2.Athena (she literally gets with her at the end. Of course, she's gonna talk about her) 3. Her ex (she died, she going to mourn over her) I love Hammerlock so much, but if you want to talk about how he isn't forced, you should jog your memory before talking about that lovely lady. In the first few minutes of meeting him, he mentions an ex (which is a man). As well as that, Hammerlock got an ENTIRE DLC over his gay marriage. (again, no hate to that DLC; honestly, the best thing about 3) We should love and not hate these characters; never pin wLw against mLm; wLw always wins. Bee Tee Dubs, I'm a gay trans dude, so this representation is awesome! If we really wanna talk about forced rep, look at New Tales from the Borderlands, Lor (formerly known as Lorelei) had zero reason to transition; genuinely, if they wanted a trans character, they could've just made one. And to make them not forced, idk show that they have scars or that they take HRT. Honestly, This is no hate to you; I feel very strongly about this topic and these characters. Have a wonderful day, and I hope your pillow is cold~!
