Thank you so much for this video. I did the preliminary interview yesterday following your instructions and I got a message today that I passed. God bless you🙏🙏🙏
@@badejoyewande9204you have to pick at least 2 different dates or days you think you'll be available for the preliminary interview. In my case, I gave them 2 different dates but they suggested a different time slot for me and I accepted. I did the interview and the following day I received a message from them saying that I should prepare for the one-on-one interview.
This video is exactly what I was looking for! I recently got an invite for a preliminary interview from Borderlink and started searching for resources then I found your channel. Thank you for this video, you have no idea! Everything you talked about in your own interview email is similar to mine, just that they have changed from Skype to Teams. Right now I feel like I'm not alone anymore lol. I'm soaking in all the details in this video and other videos and I'm building my confidence towards the first interview. I strongly believe in doing my best and leaving the rest to God. I will let you know how my preliminary interview goes. Thank youuu!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
@@Jack_to_Japan I have a question about the form we are supposed to fill please. Are we supposed to print it out in color format, then fill it with pen, scan and attach to the email reply, or can it be filled online? It wasn't indicated in the email. Kindly let me know. thank you.
@@Jack_to_Japan may I ask what app you used? Because this form has different things, including boxes that need to be ticked/checked. The checking of boxes part is where I've been stuck for a while because no app could seemingly do that.. Adding my signature is easy, I can easily do that with Adobe or something.
Thank you soo much my brother. Your video really helped me do well in the interview. I promised myself to come back and thank you if I get a positive feedback. Yes I did,, I just received an email say I passed the preliminary interview. Thank you very much sir
Hi Jack. Thankyou so much for sharing your experience with us. This is what I was exactly searching. Really a valuable video for newbies like me who is taking the interview. I am having the interview tomorrow and hoping for the best
Hi Kaushalya. I am also invited for an interview for ALT at Borderlink. Could you tell me the questions they asked at the interview and the nature of this interview. Thank you in advance ☺
@@candicenguluvhe3750 It took me ages to fill out the form and when I sent it back to them, they said oh sorry! We can’t proceed because you didn’t get your 12 years of education in English lol ! They should’ve just asked me that question in the beginning or checked my resume !! It was daunting and frustrating!
Hi Jack, Thank you so much for this video, it was of great help to me. I had my preliminary interview with borderlink last week Wednesday alongside 5 other applicants, I was sent a congratulatory mail the next day that I had qualified to move on to the one one one interview. I'm looking forward to that now. Thank you once again
@@Jack_to_Japan Thank you Jack. I'm hopeful I'll also get past the one on one interview and eventually be offered the job. Fingers crossed, I'll update you how it goes.
@@christiandailydiet8244 There weren't any questions asked, there was first an orientation session. Afterward, the interviewer asked us (applicants) to discuss amongst ourselves in 10 minutes what the experience of teaching in a public school will be, challenges and solutions to them. When we were done with that, he bade us farewell and said they'll get back to us via mail in 5 working days time. I was truly surprised when I got their mail the very next day.
@@christiandailydiet8244 from what I can tell things are a little different from when I went through it, but everything I went through should be in the video.
@@Jack_to_Japan waiting for the result. Your videos realy helped me. I'm waiting for my result and then I'll see your next video for the 18362th time 🥲
@@shivanijoshi2281 hey. Yah. I passed the orientation. The next step was English proficiency test through some online method… I passed that too got B2 which was 2nd highest… then I had one on one interview which went really well. Both the interviewer and I were friendly and understanding. She even said I asked good questions at the end… But they failed me. And said that they can’t give feedback because of some company policy… which is really absurd… I’m guessing they got native speakers and didn’t have enough seats because last year during September they didn’t even pass me on screening even though I sent the same resume this time. They give priority to native speakers.
Hi Jack. Thank you so much for this really helpful video. this particular video really prepared me for the preliminary interview I had on Wednesday. I had been taking in all the tips you dropped in your videos even when I wasn't sure they would get back to me to invite me for an interview for I had applied in April, but I was told the application had closed but that they would get in touch with me. But I just kept making research and preparing myself for it just in case I get an Invite. And voila, I got an invite last week for the preliminary interview. The group discussion was really interesting. So, right now I am just waiting for the result, and hoping to pass the preliminary so I can move on to the secondary interview. Thank you once again. I will keep you posted on how it goes.
@@mavischadenga1793 hello dear. It went well. Thanks to God and RU-vid channels like Jack's. I was contacted yesterday that I passed and been invited for the 1-1 interview. Well the interview was a group discussion: Different levels of students in the classroom, how would you handle that something like that. Are you having yours soon?
Thank you so much for this video, please how long does it take to get response from Boarderlink after the preliminary and orientation session ? It's been three days after i had my preliminary interview but i haven't gotten any response yet.
Thanks Jack for the briefing its a great insight for aspirant like some of us. I wish to find out what is the duration for the recruitment process. When are we expected to resume working if you sail through the process successfully? I am also a little confused on how many interviews are expected. After the Preliminary is there another Online interview. Thanks again and looking forward to your responses.
There are two interviews. A group one and a one on one interview. The overall process started in june of 2021 for me and lasted till I arrived in Japan in March.
Hi Jack Your video was so informative. After so much application i got a chance to attend the preliminary interview. I have a question gow long the interview takes and what type of questions can i expect from them more than you said in the video . Kindly waiting for your response. Thabk you!
Lol got an email from them saying I didn’t pass even though I didn’t do the interview but alt I heard bad experiences but it’s a good way to work and live in Japan I’m currently planning to do grad school there and hopefully get an internship
Sorry to hear that, I do think that ALT companies are a bit scummy in practice, however they are a current means of living in Japan. Grad school is another good option. What are you studying?
@@Jack_to_Japan don't worry about the Grad school option. I already did my research and got my answers. Thank you. But why have u stopped posting? I am waiting for ur next post on anything from Japan
This is helpful, thank you for this. However, I am getting close to my orientation and preliminary interview and I have a problem with the time difference, can you talk to me about this? Thank you once again
Hi Jack. Thank you for this informative video. Do we have to discuss only one question given by the leader? Do we have to answer any more questions individually? I will have my preliminary interview next week.
this was about a year ago in Covid time so im not sure if things have changed. However, The leader poses a question a sees how you interact with other people. The main goal is to show your personality. Have your video on at all times Mute when not speaking dress professionally have fun
Hi Jack, from the preliminary interview to actually leaving for Japan, how long does it take? And is the flight ticket, the journey and accommodation covered or does one has to prepare financially for that? 😊.. thanks for reply
Thank you Jack for this information, I received an email yesterday attached with an application form. I'm little bits confused about how to fill it. Do I have to print it out fill and send it back to them or what .. please specify and thanks in inadvance
Google doc will help. That's what I used to fill mine. Then you may have issues on tick the boxes..... just locate "insert" on the command screen, click and select "special characters" on the drop down menu. Type "check", it will bring out the mark sign and click on it All the best bro
A good question, I heard back from them in the next few days. Today is a national holiday in Japan so.... probably not today. Maybe wednesday. The school year is coming up as well so they are going to be very busy.
Jack please I was asked to book a section for orientation after passing the initial session. Please I don't know where to start. Should I select the 3 sections and send back to them through email, please I need guide.
Got an invitation for the interview, did the interview, but did not pass despite all the readiness and following all the rules....i had more than 5days to prepare. But unfortunately I got rejected
@@lovieshize it is in discussion form. In my own, the guys I met never gave me a chance to speak. They were rushing to talk repeatedly as if they wanted to impress the interviewer... I hope they are all recruited. 😀

Hey hi this is padma.. Thank you so much this was really helpful ..I just received an invite to attend the Orientation interview.. could you please guide on some general questions we need to be prepared🙂 Kind of nervous 🤞🤞Thanks a lot 😊
Hi Padma, the orientation interview is going to be a group interview where you will working together with 4 other people. Generally they wanna see how you facilitate with the other members. Two questions they ask our group where: 1. What do you think an assistant Language Teacher is (how would you define it), 2. What would you do if the teacher didn't like the lesson you planned? How would handle it? This only lasts for a short time. Most of the orientation is just information about the different schools you could potentially be teaching at. Be out of yourself and personable, be friendly and out going while still being professional. They are looking more at your personality then your skills at this point in the interview. You got this and good luck!
I have a bachelors degree in business administration and I'm not a native english speaker, however my speaking is of native level. I applied through the website today. I dont have any experience or certification, however i am planning to take the ielts this month and a tefl certification course but ive already applied before attaining any of these certificates, is that all right?
Hi, Jack after I received an email saying "you passed the initial screening.." I answered their email 3 days later. How long until I hear from them, cuz I'm kinda afraid that I was late for answering their email. Thanks!
Hey afiifah! Sorry for the late reply, I got my response about 4 days later. Right now Japan is very busy as the border opens up next month. It is a very pivotal time for foreigners. That being said, if you don't get it in a week then email them.
You are an assistant not a full teacher. Remember that whatever the head teacher says goes. However, we can suggest a change. "I think it would be better this way, coming from an English stand point. What do you think?" Something along those lines
@@Jack_to_Japan is it mandatory to wear a shirt in the 1st interview? Unfortunately, I just got a dark blue shirt and a blue jeans shirt at the moment. My Interview is one day later.
Hi Jack, first of all thank you for this video. So here's the thing, I just recently decided to apply online in the Borderlink website as an ALT in Japan. I sent my online application last August 12 and I was kinda making sure that they received my application so I re-apply last August 25. Are they still be accommodating applicants overseas within this year? and how many month/s should I wait for the "Acceptance email" to come. Hope you'll reply to my concern. Thank you so much Jack. God speed.
Hi, I have a question: about the questions on the preliminary document, it is also asked whether I have taken lessons in English for 12 years. But they mean all lessons, or are English language and literature lessons alone sufficient? (I am speaking as a non-native speaker resident who has studied in Italy)
Greetings Jack, I received a mail from Borderlink saying "you have passed the initial screening....". I received the official application form as well. I am confused as to what to fill in some of the areas. Can I talk with you in private? I would be grateful if you could help me with the filling of the application form.
@@Jack_to_Japan oh, thanks! Btw, how many days did it took for Borderlink's HR representatives to reply back with an application form after you filled the very first online application form for applicants from overseas?
@@ripper3052 the one week was what most people experience but mine was different. At first, I thought they have rejected me and not made me aware. I decided to look elsewhere and when I least expected, they contacted me; in a month
