My Japanese boyfriend at the time did all the paperwork and everything (we moved in together for awhile so his name is technically still on the lease) lol A lot of places discriminate against foreigners here so you have to be careful. @chubbyowl88
@chubbyowl88 Год назад
Hello, I was wondering how the salary works through Altia? for example, does the salary cap out after several years? So, with Epik in Korea you hit a glass-ceiling in terms of salary. There's no room for growth, your salary just stays the same after I think 2 or 3 years. So even if you've worked for 5 years you would be stuck with under 3k monthly. You do get a one-time bonus per year upon renewal and completion of your contract. So, I was wondering if this is the same case with Altia Central? Is there a maximum a foreign teacher can make?
@vaninjapan
@vaninjapan Год назад
Hello! So ALTIA does not offer any raises at all 😅 Your yearly bonus is the only thing that increases but even then I'm not sure about how much or if it caps at a certain amount. The only way to make more money is to start working in the HR department but even then it's still under 3k monthly.

The pixel 6 is quite buggy. Even after numerous updates. Since you are in Japan and you do film a lot of video, have a look at the newly launched "Sony Xperia 1 iv" it's a camera oriented phone with special Sony software to professionally record audio and record video. You can also buy a second screen and a special grip to vlog and stuff. Yes it's expensive with the whole kit, but maybe have a look at it, even the base phone at it's super expensive price is one of the best out there. It also has a headphone jack, which can help you connect a mic directly or use a wireless mic set. Sorry for nerding out in tech. But i highly suggest have a look at that phone. Anyways, thanks for the video, I have been thinking about applying for alt. Via jet program, I am not a native English speaker, but I do speak almost native level English and have also given IELTS and scored 7.5/9. So was hoping to see if I can apply. I have zero knowledge in Japanese though, only anime and manga level Japanese for me. Your Japanese interviewer was so happy he found a rugby fan 😂 Also a demo lesson which they tell you to do would be really nice too. And I am sorry again for writing such a long comment. I feel like a spammer. I wanted to ask some other questions too, but I don't use insta or Facebook.

So if you have any tips please let me know! Thanks again :)
@vaninjapan
@vaninjapan 2 года назад
Hello I hope your interview goes well I'm sure it will! 😁👍🏻 So I personally live in Okayama. There's an Okayama Prefecture Facebook page where you can link with people but also I became friends with people during training, especially the ones that went to my same town. ALTIA has Facebook and LINE groups too. My town also had an international society so I was able to make friends that way as well. I was pretty lucky though because one of the girls who had lived here for 4 years added me to her friend group and that's where I made most of my friends. If you live in a more rural prefecture you can always make friends by going to local bars and such too, both Japanese and foreign. But in my experience the foreign community in rural places isn't that big so it's easier to make friends. Sorry I'm not sure how helpful this was 😅

@@amandabrown9684 why you want to go to Japan what your experience with kids is can you speak Japanese and write your name in katakana do you already have your degree/when do you graduate what is your degree why Japan and not another country like Korea since Kpop and Kdramas are so popular now how long have you studied Japanese can you drive/are you willing to drive/will you get your Japanese license? can you get to the training location alone? a little roleplaying where he pretends to be a student and you are the teacher and youre just having a little conversation have you ever been to Japan or another country? have you ever studied abroad? what did you like about being in a new country if yes/ why not if no have you ever taken the JLPT/what level did you pass (take the practice test on the official website, so you at least have that for reference, it doesn't affect if you get in, but it does show taking initiative) basic stuff, BUT he is REALLY informative so take notes and if you dont get this job you will 100% get into another company with those notes, their process is harder than all the other companies i applied for at the same time (i applied to 10 companies and got offers from 6, this company had the best contract) (he basically called me lazy because i studied Japanese for 10years and never took the real JLPT -its too expensive but he didn't ask about that- even tho i always score high on the practice tests)

@@amandabrown9684 good luck you can do it study a little for the Japanese test, they ask you basic questions like your hobbies and if you like sports and the hardest one for me was "what message would you like to give your students"

So if I know ZERO Japanese I don’t have a chance 👀

You'd have to learn how to write your name in Katakana and a basic introduction (but like I said they give you a legit script you could memorize) 👍🏻
