I am a direct descendant of the red haired left handed Kerr clan who were certainly one of the most powerful and influential border reiver clans, we were very loyal to Mary Queen of Scots and gave her refuge from the English in one of our castles.

@@MarkNicol123 William Wallace is believed to have hidden himself below Dunfermline Palace, one of Scotland patron saints, lived in a cage at Dunfermline, St Andrews castles has the best mine and countermine in Europe, and was attacked by a wooden battleship, A Scottish king fell over cliffs at Burntisland, and an air to the throne was imprisoned at Falkland Palace, Falkland Hill was a hill Fort, and hill of Tarvit was a roman hill Fort? But not sure.

I have yet to see anyone connect in reasonable fashion as many of the little known details as Adam Ardrey has. In " Finding Arthur" he takes his reluctant discoveries and applies a barrister's reasoning skills . By under assuming the connections to small details found among the historic Scotish Kingdom of Dal Riada and conservatively seeking historic connections with Nennius' Battle List in lower Scotland and Northern England, Adam comes close to breathing life into the person of Arthur Mac Aedan, the man who would eventually be the real historic core of the composit identity, later to be propagated by the Welsh Bards as King Arthur. www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/usreviews/books/duckwortharthur.html

very interesting take on the battle...well thought out...the names in the old survey maps give a lot of clues to the history of the land...have you ever thought of going to Yarrow...there was a great battle fought there as well...I have always thought Arthur fought there...take care...Michael

Ever think about doing a story about the Kerrs? They're a very famous border clan, and well, I happen to be one of them too.
@MarkNicol123
@MarkNicol123 7 лет назад
yes the Dukes of Roxburgh are descended from the reviving family of Kerr (or Carre), might be a film on the cards this year. don't know if you live in Scotland but there is a very small village called Bowden, in a vault under the ancient church is a crypt for the Kerr family who went on to be the Dukes. You can't get in but you can look in the door and see the graves and inscriptions.

Outstanding!!! I look forward to this and will subscribe for this future installment! I'm an American by nationality, but I almost had an opportunity via my trade - military - to visit Lossiemouth; however, Iceland's where I ended up. Oh well, except that visiting Scotland would have been a kajillion times better and my favorite scotch is brewed very near there - Balvenie. Great work though, I really enjoy learning about my lineage before the migration, revolution thingy. Anyhow, cheers from Washington State USA!

Can you do a story on one of my ancestors. I am from the Armstrong but also the Sprole clan too. I got back to 1306 with a direct bloodline and Sprole's supposed to have been Robert the Bruce's money holder.
