Bit of a sloppier recording due to time constraints, but hopefully yall get the point. - Assimilator was first seen in Armada 1, not 2. - And for carriers I recommend at the end, I shouldn't have mentioned the Xindi one as it is a bit dated now. Still good, but Assimilator is better than that specific example.
The Xindi Carrier does have access to 10% Xindi pet weapon haste which makes a few interesting Carrier builds and the Xindi pets themselves do not need or benefit from SAD so you save a trait. It might be worth noting that for Rapid Fire/Beam Overload or Surgical Strike builds the Borg new trait works better for the overall build then SAD. (I skimmed the video, apologises if I missed you saying that, will watch in full later)
Its not from Armada 2 but the first one. Borg Assimilator is the second game that was changed to Lore's Borg ship model aka the Liberated Borg Command Juggernaut as we know it in Star trek online.
I love the Borg and got a lifetime sub a long time ago just so I could play the Borg. I got this ship and was so excited for 15 minutes. I've run into all of these issues and I'm so disappointed 😢
We are the Borg We will add your biological and technological disappointment to our collective Your despair will adapt to service us Resistance is futile
The Assimilator being the a free ship makes a lot of sense and sadly it going to a gamble box is on brand. That wouldn't be as bad if the pets and console weren't so lackluster. Thanks for the review.
I created a romulan borg theme character with the two freebee packages from alienware and steel series. I got it, because it really adds to the theme. I set it up as a tank and like how it came out will all the borg themed consoles and assimilated plasmas. The pets are crap, which is a shame.
@@kailimyee7253 but the cube fusion is amazing and no one can beat me in multiplayer. I won the tournament in my country back then with just the cubes :D
Nice presentation displaying the size comparisons. The Assimilator is just huge just not by footprint but with its volume. It is really a shame the drill-bits are so bad, it distracts a bit from the overall awe from the ship. The copy & paste of this console & the Friendship's console shouldn't happen but with Cryptic I'm sadly not surprised. Also, the Rare & Very Rare drill-bits being exactly the same are another indicator of Cryptic's negligence. Hopefully these will be corrected in the future.
I kinda wonder if they gonna incorporate somewhere in the future Fusion Cube, if I recall correctly it was up to 8 Cubes (or Tactical Cubes) merged into one huge pack of bad news ;)
I know it dropped after this video, but you can now seemingly put any bridge on any ship. I've not seen many people talk about it, other than the stealth addition to the consoles, but it's now also viable on PC. I tried it out a few days ago, myself. I don't have a ton of alien ships to try it on, but I definitely have a lot more bridge options on even my Federation ships now (including Klingon bridges). Just thought I'd bring it up since no one seems to be talking about it for the PC platform.
I will be expanding my Tal Shiar Romulan's Borg research ship collection and getting this ship. Looking forward to double elite scorpions with SAD+ETM and CFP3 for maximum plasma torp spam.i don't care if it ain't meta, it'll light up the whole map with plasma!
I managed to get one on my main on December 5th... luck of the draw. had 5 keys, got it on my second box opened... first time I have hit a T6 on a lockbox.
Not sure that's right about the pets have to land the final blow. Only 1 of my pets got the final kill but 3 of the 4 managed to assimilate targets. Not 100% sure but I think they have to be within a certain range when the target dies rather then get the killing shot. EDIT: Not been able to repeat this in testing. Today the Pets where assimilating targets on kill. But I did notice often only some of the Borg pets would do damage while the other pet(s) would fly around randomly not shooting. Often the 2 test ships would die with half the Borg pets failing to engage. I wonder if the Borg pets are a copy and past of the Elite Yukawa Frigates which also have the same bug and problem where they fail to chase down and engage targets.
these pets need some improvements for their unique ability, I'll hope that cryptic seen this wishes and do some improvement steps for this "final blow" trigger as some variant - add for these pets ability like: Culling Strike is a property that causes hits to kill enemies left with 5% of maximum life or less.... or something close to it
The console appears to work on ships assimilated via other means (the burst assimilation that creates rammers, and the assimilation torpedo.) so the console is prolly a fire choice with those abilities in play
Those pets are excretable. It could be interesting, if slow, to try a 50/50 split. Elite Borg and the other, your best pets. See what does better in the parse. Just no Plasma pets so you can tell who is who.
I think the developers should have added the Borg as a playable faction tbh and that way us players can enjoy a whole new storyline of missions, tales and of course, mission rewards instead of trying to create a Borg themed character that ultimately still isn't a Borg. As for the ship sizes in this game, I've found the developers let the scale of ships drift into idiotic territory tbh. Don't misunderstand, Borg ships are monsters, but there's other ships from other factions that don't really have that history and just something the developers got carried away with. These are ok as NPC enemy ships during some story mission, but in the interest of sense and visibility should not be playable ships. For example, and just my opinion, the Galaxy Class starship is and was a huge ship. If you could place a person on the saucer section for scale, it's just ginormous. Then there was the Romulan D'deridex Warbird which is even bigger. For the likes of Federation and Romulan and Klingon in TNG series that was about reaching the limits on a somewhat practical and logistically viable maximum size. The Borg were colossal but originally it wasn't sure if a Cube was supposed to represent how this species grows its ship bigger and bigger(since it could easily replace destroyed sections could therefore also easily add another layer of decks etc) as it assimilated more and more species into what was effective a big square hive. This is fine and makes sense, however, there have been many Imho dumb ship designs added to STO that make genuinely massive ships of Galaxy and D'deridex sizes look like small little attack ships and needlessly so. Big giant wings and sections serving absolutely no purpose to the ship other than "Big ship!") . Just impractical, screen blocking, visually impairing dumb oversized vessels like something a child would rustle up with a crayon. Like I said if there was a person placed on these ships to give scale to just how stupidly big some of these Galaxy Class dwarfing memes are, they'd surely be reduced in scale. Don't forget that all those lights on Starships represents Windows and the layers are each deck etc. Then scroll back, zoom out from those windows the next time your already huge Fed ship is parked next to one of these idiotic moon sized green pigeons or jellyfish or neon donuts lol.. or any other braindead thoughtless creation and understand none of those sizes should have been added to the game other than perhaps the Borg but only for PvE encounters. Making a absolutely massive space station that entire starships go in and out of look small is... ya, enough said lol. For playable Borg ships, and for the sake of visibility and sensibility, the maximum size should have been a Borg Sphere which is still a genuinely massive ship(again, use a person or car for scale next to it) and also have the balls and imagination to take a different path with Borg ships such as zero shield slots that's balanced by more hp and faster hull regeneration compared to other ships since that's how Borg ships are until they adapt to the weapon damaging them. Obviously for balance sake they shouldn't adapt rendering weapons useless lol, but think outside the box a little, or in this case, outside the cube 😂
Yeah. Its from both Armada games. Sadly, even if I wanted it, its not likely that I get any lockbox ship. I will stick with my borgified Khopesh with my Borg character.
If this was a free event ship I think people would have been more then happy with an old trait updated but as is I think your crazy to drop $200. Its like if it was an event ship everyone would have loved it but in a lockbox it will probably always be looked down on as the event ship that cost $200.
I would love it if they changed the console clickly, and the probes bare minimum. Being locked out from abilities is just too detrimental, and at most i've only ever had 2 probes at once with assimilated ships. I think It would be a nice solution to allow the player ships killing blow allowing probes to assimilate the target rather than that individual probe because they are so dumb its frustrating.
You would think with the total potentional amount of money people will spend on this, that they would at least make custom interiors for these "premium" ships.
can it equip the scimitar pets ? thous always seemed like borg ships to me although i know they are purely romulan with advanced holographic stuff going on
Why do the Borg need Assimilators? Because they can't remove their suits when they have to go to the little Borg's room. ...I'll let myself out... ...every now and then.
This ship is so underwhelming. It makes me wonder if its one of the last few ships Borticus did. It seems atypical from what we have seen so far from Jonathan.
The ship is actually very good if you set it up correctly I just dont like the generic bridge cryptic gave this but than this is why borg are not a playable faction because borg ships have no bridge its all corridors, stil la good ship and the hanger pets last longer, still a good ship if you can get it my take. Would I recommend the ship if you got the money yes and its a good ship just takes some getting used to if you havent been using carrier build, overall would I recommend it I would if its the 2024 campaign prize.
Hey, I have a question. I haven’t played in a long time and was wondering what are the consoles you had in your tactical slots and also where can I attain them? Especially the ones for the pets? I’m on ps5 (don’t judge me bro lol) thanks for any info you could share.
The +Pet consoles are the ones in my engineering slots. stowiki.net/wiki/Advanced_Consoles#Hangar_Craft_Power_Transmission-3 Last year Cryptic introduced some new "Advanced" Engineering and Science consoles that have made those slots competitive with Tac consoles. Only downside is you can't run both Advanced Engineering/Science consoles and Fleet Spire Locators/Exploiters at the same time, have to pick one or the other.
@@CasualSAB thanks for the info. Kind of sucks that you can’t run both however I usually run dreadnought carriers anyway. (I did get the borg one and it’s fun. I’ll fly it for the memes lol. We had 3 of them outside of earth space dock trying to play Tetris…)
@@CasualSABNo problem. I know its big but barely larger than the Cnidarian, just tall. It would have probably been able to hide, too. Thanks for all the videos, keep up the great work!
So, after watching this whole video and carefully processing everything you mentioned, I have just one question remaining: When you hit the stop button, does it stop quickly? Hahahahaha, sorry I just could not resist.
I'm so tired of useless gimmicks that don't actually *do* anything in a real combat match. Such cool ideas that never see any actual practical use. (Referring to the pets and their unique mechanic here as yet another example.)
I don't want a crappy interior, this make most ships not even worth it! It is like buying a gun to use as a bludgeon.. oh it looks pretty dangerous on the outside until you realize the interior is so rusted out it is more a replica. I will have to pass on all ships unless they make bridges again, that is the reason get ships! Want Beautiful Space Combat? Play Star Trek Fleet Command! Want an Amazing Ground Combat? Play Destiny 2 Want a Balanced Experience? Play Mass Effect Legendary Edition Want a Star Trek MMO to cry about people not using the correct pronouns? Play Star Trek Online! (PS5 version at least)
