Yes, they do. I like seeing all those free range chickens outside. Most commercially raised chickens are raised inside buildings stuck in tiny cages all of the time.
I suggest you loovisitk at eatwild.com to find a similar farm near you. There are many of us that raise animals on pasture with similar consideration towards animal welfare.
I raise all my chickens like this. Not close this size but I let my chickens free range my 10 acres. There are a lot of small time chicken farmers doing this in the US. Look up Joel Salatin he’s pretty big in free range chicken raising. 👍
@@bertborger9919 I adore the finer things in life Sire! They add a lot more sense to life you see. Cheers & mabuhay (i.e., long live) from the Philippines!
I do like the way you are handeling the pigs! But what about the part when you are going to send the pigs to the butchery? Who handles that and how is it the pigs goes to the last part of their lives? What I like is how the pigs lives, but it worries me that the butchery isn't as pig friendly!
@@shadynail4723 Commercial, and some/most custom slaughter houses electrocute the animals now days. It is easier on everyone and thing involved. The kill is in seconds at most.
@@cdjhyoung The setup and processing before that ain't. That's why I mentioned stress. I don't know how it is where you are, but here they have to be held in a building for a day before being offed.
@@shadynail4723 That is odd in my opinion. Here, literally, they get unloaded from the truck, weighed, inspected for possible disease or infection and go right to the kill floor. If the pigs are held for any length of time, water and some food must be provided. No one wants to incur those additional expenses.
Good point, Lester. I thought the same thing. This type of feeding attracts a lot of rodents. There are big feeders available that optimise feed use without waste.
Finnaly a farm that doesn’t brutally trap poor chickens in confined spaces so they won’t develop the right behavior in nature so they’ll attack each other. Oh and I hope cows aren’t force to feed on poor wheat that can potentially develop a disease to kill them
look at all the erosion issues free range pigs cause. That farm will have washed most of its productive soils away in 15 years running pigs outside with slopes that steep.
How do you ever keep small pigs in with those fences? i would bet there are alot of escapes from this sow set up. Also what are your mortality rates for sow/piglets not in farrowing crates?
farming is relying on animals because people do not want to work. All they have to do is feed, exploit and slaughter. Whether caged or free range, they are going to be slaughtered. Three guys are captured by a tribe of natives in a far off land. They are brought before the tribal leader who gives them a choice. He says, "what will you have, death or bunga?". The first guys thinks, hmmm wonder what bunga is. "I'll take the bunga". The tribal leader says, "good". Then a dozen tribal members line up and give it to him in the rear. The tribal leader turns to the second guy and gives him the choice, death, or bunga. The second guy thinks, hmm, that bunga thing is pretty nasty. But death is permanent, "I'll take the bunga". Tribal leader says, "good", and a hundred tribesmen line up and give him the bunga. The tribal leader gives the choice to the third captive. He thinks a while, hmm, first it was a dozen, then it was a hundred, I don't know man. Heck with it, "I'll take death". The tribal leader says, "good, death .... by bunga". source: www.jokes4us.com/dirtyjokes/bungajoke.html
