I was an extra in this movie. That's me at 8:45 in the blue sweatshirt. They filmed me in a bunch of scenes throughout the day, but they only used about 2.5 seconds of my footage in the movie, lol. One of the extras was upset because he overheard the filmmakers say he looked too Anglo so they weren't going to use him. But he still had to stay the entire day to get paid his $40.
Paul Rodriguez never stopped cracking jokes. In between shots he would have the whole set cracking up with his jokes. He really made it a fun experience.
I grew up in Highland Park in the 80s and 90s. I listened to metal. Knac, pirate radio, love line, Kroq, k earth 101 sometimes power 106 with other people, I think the dj was Huggie Boy. It was a different world back then and for the better!
@@80sLife yes I used to work for her my favorite movie she did was a film called "EL NORTE" I Highly recommend you watch this film with your family! It's a Powerful Film 📽🎞
This was one of the first movies I ever saw as a kid since it was my dads favorite. Its still one of my favorites to this day and we still quote it with each other. Very underrated film for Cheech.
Recently watched the DVD version not too long ago and realized it was not how I remembered the movie ending as a kid. Now I know why! Another great video! Looking at the reflections in vehicle windows for clues? Next level
My dad lived in the apartment complex they shot the Tijuana scenes for a while. Looks like they recently turned it into a hotel but the Google Street View still kind of shows how it used to look. Look up "Eazy Living Sucursal Centro" in Tijuana, its on Avinida Ninos Heroes, near the Revolucion. That last scene in this video was shot there.
I grew up around the cerros Onde Rudy is figuring out how to cross the border. I learned how to ride my bike were they run down the hill . I was 4 years old and I remember them filming in that location. Those cerros are gone now it’s called Colonia tres de octubre .
This was awesome... This took me back to my childhood... That park where he's chasing the red head.. it's across the street from the haunted Linda Vista hospital... It's a convalescent home now...
@@80sLife ooooo nice, can't wait. .... appreciate you brotha.... keep it up... Ever thought of doing "boulevard nights?" Even though it came out in 1979....

The redhead has a name, Neith Hunter. I fell in love with this woman after watching this movie. Not long after I got to work with her on fright night part 2. I got her number and I took her out to dinner. LOL that was it we just had a lovely dinner.
Excellent work on this Kurt, such a GREAT and underrated film, Cheech should really have won an award on this and get more accolades than he does man..........Thanks for doing this man- Heath 1st Corinthians 13

My brother,(RIP) and I did the same thing as you and your brother.I was a child my brother was a teen.We as well had a circle of movies we watched over and over and this is one of them.Thanx man.Keep it rockin'.Two other requests these actually came out in 1979 but hopefully you can do them.Walk Proud with Robby Benson and Trinidad Silva and Boulevard nights with Damien Chapa and Gary Cervantes. Also you forgot to mention that Cesar E.Chavez Ave.was formerly Brooklyn Ave. It changed in 1993.Also do you know where they filmed the Pollo Lounge and Tijuana Scenes?
Me and my brother did the same thing with this movie, over and over with the VHS. I now had to buy the DVD because obviously they don't want this movie streaming these days.
Oh My God I love this movie so much man Thank You for filming the locations of Born In East LA it’s a very funny movie lol 😂 P.S I recently visit the Hollenbeck Park where the red headed girl was walking on the bridge
I survived Aliso Village in the 80s. Many gangs in the hood - ELA dukes/ Capone/ ECC/ TMC/Clanton/ other I can't remember at the time. I watched them film on 1st street near the library (Parade scene) when I was a kid. The good old days.
I've never seen this movie, but as soon as there is an upload from you I'm straight on it regardless if I've seen the film or not. Absolutely fantastic and as my usual saying..looking forward to the next one. Ps.. any chance you could do the filming locations to.. menace 2 society please.
I just watch this movie and it was awesome! Mostly I saw it because I'm from Tijuana and sometimes I do is visit my family from East LA. I wish you could do the Tijuana scenes
Nice. I was in high school during the filming of the movie. The scene where the crowd storm the US, running down a hill torch the border patrol, I saw that take live. During that scene, there is a panoramic view of the border patrol vehicle; behind that vehicle there is a small set of buildings, next to a row of threes, that was my high school in La Presa section of Tijuana (Cobach Plantel La Mesa). I was exiting a classroom, I just had finished a statistics test, when I heard the roar of the crowd running full speed torch us (we were supposed to be in the US side). I’ll never forget that. I still remember seeing up close Cheech Marin. I loved my Highschool campus, it was located on a remote site of the city, surrounded by nature with very beautiful views, especially during winter, when it was all green. The school did not have any fencing. Unfortunately, that changed within ten years from the filming of the movie. That hill is now a very poor neighborhood, a misery belt, and the campus is all fenced and in the middle of it.
Did you take mt advice to do this? about 2 weeks ago on your live when you were taking suggestions of movies I suggested this. This is great and a all time favorite of mine
