I love this episode! This is my favorite Kurt song of the whole series, with a song from season 4 a close second. I love the way Emma's therapist explained how her OCD didn't define her as a person, and that no one would tell a person with diabetes to not take medication for it because "that's who they're meant to be".
Yes! This scene with the therapist has really impacted me to look for help with my ADHD, and I haven't looked back ever since. Such good representation for all kinds of mental disorders.
Santana had so many iconic quotes this episode, it's crazy. "I'm a closet and a judgmental bitch, which means one thing... I have awesome gaydar." "I've gotta gay... GO" "Like that's any less gay!" Definitely one of my favorite episodes of the show. An episode with a Santana AND a Quinn storyline? Sign me up!
Honestly, the Glee creators oftentimes put their foot in their mouths when talking about serious topics (despite having good intentions) but this episode they did really well imo. I like the idea with the shirts and I also love that they did go with things that make sense for the characters and not (just) stuff society puts into people's head. I remember when I first watched it I was worried they'd put Lauren's weight on hers or 'wheelchair' on Artie's because that's what a lot of other shows would have done. Also, i agree with your opinion about Kurt's solo. I listen to it all the time. He really put his all into it.
Watching this reminds me why this is one of my favorite episodes in this series. I like how this fleshes out so many characters even more by showing their backstories and their insecurities. It also has some of my favorite quotes in the whole series, as well as covers. "I Feel Pretty/Unpretty" and "I Gotta Be Me", for example, went straight to my playlist when I first heard them, and I find "Somewhere Only We Know" to be even better than the original. Kurt completely deserves that standing ovation for his performance. Glee doesn't always handle mental health-stuff in the best way, but the scene where Emma talks with her therapist is really well done. I'm especially proud of her in this episode. The idea about t-shirts was very inspiring in my opinion, too. Thanks for this reaction. :)
Best season 2 episode hands down, maybe even tied for the best ever with the 2nd to last episode of season 3 and a certain season 5 episode (Glee fans know which one's I'm talking about). Just so many good songs in this episode, and so many of them are underrated. Kurt's solo and the Warblers songs are amazing and Pretty/Unpretty is incredible.
quinn pairs so well with others it's a shame they didn't give her more songs or duets rachel and quinn especially have such a storyline between them (and lea and di had a lot of chemistry) they should have done more in terms of singing even if they were rivals, rival duets are always BOPS
Somewhere Only We Know by the Warblers (*cough* Darren Criss) is on my “Better than the original” list and #3 on my “Best songs on Glee” list. I absolutely love it
This is one of my favorite episodes from the classic glee era because there is just so many amazing preformences. Two of my favorite from this episode is Somewhere only we know and gotta be me. Anyway great video can't wait for the next one.
Fun fact: Brittany was the only one in the glee club (besides a future character) that was not slushied Also, Rachael is the only one that calls 'Puck' Noah
Jay I don't watch this show, but I'm chiming in just to share how much I appreciate the work you do and how good you are at reaction vlogs. I had a nasty clap back the other the other day with a vlogger because I had made critical comments for something I'm new at listening to reaction vloggers.. It's a learning curve trying to figure which ones are giving me what I want. I have to say hands down, it's you number one!!❤️ I'm always recommending you on my other platforms Thank you 🙏🏽 always a good time listening to you
Rachel has a good reason for needing to get a nose job and everyone's actin like it's a vanity project for her when down the road it could be a liability for her voice
I really don't like how Shouster is treating Emma's OCD (I forget what she has) but Shou making her feel bad for it is not ok he acts like shes causing it but thats not how OCD works
I get what Shouster is trying to do but he kinda sounds transphobic here like what if a person wanted to change cause they didn't feel like themselves from the outside
