I hope this video will assist some of the starter DIY guys out there to gain some information before buying the Bosch C3 Battery Charger as I review the basic functions of the the charger after owning and operating one for almost 10 years.
Bosch C3 Battery Charger is an intelligent charger equipped with a MCU which it controls and monitor the charging functions of the four charging modes.
Bosch C3 Battery Charger is able to charge batteries of 6 volts with 14A or less and 12 volts of 14 A or less and 12 batteries with greater of 14A and up to 120A.
Bosch C3 Battery Charger is suitable to charge AGM, lead acid and Gel type batteries.

I just bought one…and a new battery too. Topped up the new battery (12.8 v on my multimeter). C3 reported, „OK“. Took the car to the shop. Mechanic said this new battery was only 25% charged. Does this charger measure only voltage as a measure of being fully charged?

I have the same charger - where can I plug it in on a BMW? I cannot find where to plug the earth. Tried online (told to attach to the body of the car) but I don't think that's right??

Red + on battery, black depending on vehicle on designated identified by vehicles manual , some on engine block of vehicle others on designated point as indicated in vehicles owner manual. Unsure, remove vehicle's clamps on battery and connect to poles of the battery.

How long it take to charge full battery? Can i keep it overnight?

It depends on the size of your battery and the level of drainage. The charger is safe and you can leave it connected over night, it will stop charging the battery once fully charged.

I have connected the charger. The Mode selection button is not flashing nor lit. It's not allowing for me to select any mode. Only the Reverse Polarity Protection light is on.

Whenever the charger is connected to the AC power the main button light blue. once charging mode is selected it turn green. if no light at all check your plug connection / power cord.

I haven't used my one over a month at a time, the charger has overcharge and heat protection so leaving it hooked to a battery for prolonged periods wouldn't be a problem, just make sure your are on the right battery setting that suits the type and voltage of the battery you intending to charge.

Can it charge the battery if the battery voltage is almost zero?

If the battery voltage is below 10 volts then the charger will auto select 6 volt mode and will charge the battery in this mode. It will take a very long time to get the battery to full charge from near zero volts.

I have a charged car battery, and when I put the charger on it it only shows the blue light around the mode button! Nothing else comes up! Is the charger fixable or is it damaged beyond repair?! Can anyone suggest something, or am I correct in my thinking?!

Have you tried it on other battery? If the battery charge below 6 volts then the charger wouldn't recognize the battery and the status light will stay blue.

My 12V battery went almost dead. The charger only selects 6V, so how can I force the charger to 12V?

The automatic select of the 6 volts charge on 12 volts battery is due to the battery been drained and has voltage of less than 10 volts. If the battery still installed in the car then try to jump start the car and let it ideal for couple of minutes then install the charger once car switched off. the above worked for me all the time. Other wise try using old fashioned battery trickle charger (no digital / Smart) to get the battery charge to the minimum of 10 volts. .

@@Adams2Cents Finally, what I did is to start charging 6V. After about 20 minutes, it allowed me to switch to 12V. It worked!! Thank you

If you pull the power plug out of the unit while it is set to car, then when you put it on a scooter battery.. the battery will explode. So make sure to put it to stand by mode before pulling the power plug.

This only a charger, for jump start you would need jump start power bank.

That is correct, the charger is only good as maintenance or repair charge on the battery.

Thanks for video - but you did not demo the unit. Plug it onto flat battery, switch it on to various modes etc....

FYI it will not charge a flat battery. It's not that smart, so it doesn't know a 12 volt battery is 12v if it reads 6. It thinks it is a 6 v and you can't change it to 12v. Just won't charge.
