Many thanks - excellent presentation! Here are 2 simple suggestions for preventing the problem. 1. Do not open the door when the dishwasher is washing - that may increase the chance of water leaking into the bottom. 2. Open the door as soon as the dishwasher finishes - this may help evaporate any water in the bottom while the machine is still warm. That has worked so far for me after simply resetting the machine (turning it off for a minute and on at the circuit breaker)..

Great tips! I agree on not opening the door once it's going. and it's great to open it when it is done so you can let it air dry.

This plus the video of how to fix the e:15 code WITHOUT tilting the dishwasher back was helpful for me. Now that I understand how it all works, it's obvious that tilting it back only defers the problem. Thanks!

Your absolutely right, I watched several videos and no one mentioned that bottom door seal. It makes a lot of sense. One way to help prevent that from happening is to pre rinse your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and regularly checking that seal. Thank you much for taking the time to make a thorough repair video!
@poodledad
@poodledad Год назад
Thanks. Glad it was helpful. You're right that it should be checked fairly frequently. I do tend to get most of the food off before putting it in the dishwasher. That keeps the bottom filter from getting too nasty.

Of course this happens at 9:30pm and the pump is relentlessly cycling to try to empty. Thanks to this video, I was able to fix it quick and probably found the leak source, bottom left door seal with hard water deposits on the seal and door. Cleaned all surfaces, dried the bottom, done! Thank you!

Tip worked, very helpful, float easily accessible from the left side of the device. I prepared with the T-20 Torx bit two towels, a toothbrush, and cleaning solution, to clean the seals. Improper loading of the device can also lead to water in the bottom. Large items may direct water at the seal or the side vent in the machine contributing to a leak. I was left wanting additional video or images of you getting access to the foam disc before I took apart my dishwasher, but I was glad the tip worked. Thanks.

I had to come back here and comment that you absolutely nailed the issue we were having. We were moments away from spending a ton of money for a repair from the only local company that works on Bosch dishwashers (with MANY sketchy reviews) when all we needed to do was clean around the seal! It's been months and it's still going strong, I just make sure to wipe any excess water from the door prior to starting the dishwasher every time. From a poodle mom to a poodle dad, thank you so much! 🐩

I've been looking for my E15 water leak for 2 days now... Your comment about the plastic channel made sit up and listen... I couldn't find the source of the leak... it seemed to come from within the "foam leak sensor'... through your video at 3:58 runtime... I now realize the plastic channel runs directly into that...this makes me pretty sure this is the source of my water... I think I have the same sealing issue along the bottom like you had... I couldn't figure out how water would leak into the bottom catch tray from the main washing compartment until you mention the plastic channel. Thank you for your video. I about to go check that gasket for gunk and try to clean it out!

My Bosch Dishwasher threw an E15 code. Upon inspection (pulled out from cabinet, folded up the sound deadening batting to look underneath, noticed the float (styrofoam disc in bottom center of base, which rises if water is present to trigger switch above it) was a bit disintegrated (meaning water had been working on it for a while - but I never had a leak externally). Ran a few express cycles and watched for leaks - eventually I noticed a dripping from between the the "sump" housing (the large central grey round plastic pump housing in the center of the bottom base attached to DW tub above). Was thinking of replacing the sump seal (but it looked like a bit of a pain) so I just tightened the four torx screws on the floor of the inner DW tub. Note: the two visible rearmost screws would tighten but one felt like it was almost stripped and wouldn't catch very strongly (as it's screwing into the plastic sump housing below - not a great design by Bosch). So I put some glue on the screw before putting it in - let it dry over night and tightened it up after 24 hours - it still wasn't a tight a screw down feeling as I would like but it seemed to do the trick (the righthmost screw seemed to grab and tighten well - the 2 frontmost screws were already tight as they could go.). This seems to have cured the leaking problem after running a few test cycles and looking for leaks - so all good for now. I may need to replace the seal in the future -or- drop some epoxy in the screw holes to get a stronger screw down tightness. Thanks for all the info. Oh, I replaced the float which was simple as the switch just pulls up with a tug and new foam float sets in place - unfortunately, this little piece of Styrofoam is way overpriced and was like $30 online (oh, well.).

I had this problem a couple weeks ago before I found this video. I pulled the door off mine leaving the controls attached to the door so I could run it and watch for the leak. I could also see the water trail from the door and sure enough that’s where it was coming from. I took a guess at it and cleaned the door seals and found buildup on the bottom seal like in the video. Since cleaning them it has ran without leaking several cycles now and appears to be fixed. There’s a pump seal and hose connections that can leak so running it with the door off will allow you to see where it’s coming from but I’m guessing the dirty seals are the most common issue.

Thanks for your great video, I have the E15 error, and I'm figuring out what causes it. I'm gonna try your solution. I might have caused it myself when removing a piece of food that was stuck in the pump. (disassembling the whole sump unit with heater and pumps) Now a tiny bit of water gets under the styrofoam disc and sets error 15. I checked all the seals and hoses and they stay dry, so my guess is I have the same issue here. The strange part is, that the error happened in the drying cycle, so it almost completed a full washing cycle before shutting down. I keep you posted.

Bosch needs to fix the design of that seal so that gunk can't collect there. Otherwise, cleaning it as described here will solve the problem for now, but it will keep coming back. For now, if you are having this problem you might want to review how well you are scraping or rinsing your dishes. I know they all say no need to rinse, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be a good idea to remove most of the non-soluble material. I know some people just go from the table straight to the dishwasher, but in my humble opinion that is not a good method.

I’m not sure if the hole is stripped, but I’m not able to tighten it any further and get the door flush. Any idea on how to fix?

I have this same dishwasher. The other day the top rubber seal fell out on the floor. My wife stuck it back into the unit but it was still lose. Two days later got the e:15 error. I fixed the top seal and I’m mopping up the water in the bottom. We will se if this was where the leak originated. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Yeah, mine is the same where the controls are on the door. I pulled the machine out and ran it while I watched where the drip was coming from underneath. Probably not recommended, but I'm not sure how else to diagnose it. These machines seem to have a problem with the door sealing and water drips underneath.

@@poodledad After reading this I played around with the door and I was able to disconnect it and lay it flat on top of the dishwasher and then reconnect the wires to it (they were long enough to reach). So thanks for that thought to take the door off!! This allowed me to run the machine and have a good look at the seals and underneath to check for leaks. Unfortunately/fortunately I found I had a leak from the diverter assembly, AKA water switch housing. The seals are fine! A previous E15 I had was due to a leaking water inlet valve. I also had an issue with a draining noise that ended up needing a drain pump replacement. How many $500/600 machines could I have bought for what we paid for this one? Might be a way to go next time.

If it lets water leak out, it will catch it in the tray at the bottom of the door (its hidden with the front panel on) and channel it to the float that will cause the e15 error.

90% of all case help just get out water from bottom. This seal theory is nice, but very little chance to make this problem. If you look closer to bottom door gasket, it have holes. I repaired a lot of e15, but still not 100% sure when problem coming. In most cases from big rubber gasket between dishwasher body and plastic filter bottom.

Thanks for the very concise and informative video. I installed a 300 series yesterday and got this error on my second wash. I put the mounting brackets on the side and noticed one isn't fully covered by the gasket - you can see it poking out just a bit. Could this be breaking the seal and causing the error, or can you think of any other installation mistakes that may cause this?
@poodledad
@poodledad 2 года назад
Bummer. Not sure why a new dishwasher would do that. I had a lot of trouble with the mountain brackets, but I wouldn't think they would be pushing against the seal. You may need to check under the dishwasher to see how much water is in there. You can check all your connections to make sure something wasn't loose, but in my case water was leaking because the door wasn't fully sealed. Hope you get it fixed. Since it's new you should be able to connect with Bosch for some support. Please update us here when you get it figured out.

Hi, We have a 'bran new' return we purchased from Bestbuy outlet that was installed today. The installer Bestbuy sent could not get it to run for more than 10 seconds before it would stop. The red blinking led on the base was also blinking. I checked the magnet latch and it was stuck upwards and brought it back down and now can feel the door click into place where I did not before however the problem persists. After a couple hours the dishwasher also gave an Watertap E24 error. So not sure if its our drain at fault or problem with the dishwasher itself. Now waiting for Bestbuy Geeksquad technician to take a look. What could problem be? Thanks

Dang. Yeah if the door isn't sealing then water will drip down and trip that watertap error. I would guess the door isn't sealing right as that seems to be a common problem with these. Maybe that's why it was returned. Hopefully they can fix it.

Alas, this is another common issue. The brackets that they include to mount do a terrible job of securing the dishwasher. You'll have to unscrew the brackets (they should be mounted either on the side or top) and reattach them. Honestly, I had to do this 4-5 times before I got a tight fit. I even bought another pair of brackets. Another idea is to get two sets of brackets and secure both the sides and the top for better security.

It is very unlikely that the door gasket will cause a leak into the bottom collection tray setting off the E15. The leak is coming from elsewhere.
@poodledad
@poodledad 2 года назад
There's a little channel right under the door that catches any water from the door gasket and funnels it directly to the sensor that sets off the e15 error. In my case I could see the trail the water was leaving, and I could even watch it drip from that collection tray. There was a lot of gunk on the bottom side of the gasket and after cleaning it all up I haven't had the error again. I was getting the error multiple times a week prior to this. Now my dishwasher has run through 75ish cycles without the error.
