Should be renamed "Bosch unboxing". Shows nothing about Akebono.

Speaking from experience, Bosch pads offered my preferred brake progression and maximum stopping power. But they usually lasted 20K miles. Akibono pads def last longer but didnt always wear evenly because of their hardness and took a while before they offered max brake performance. I'm referring to strictly ceramics for both, in daily drive configuration.

They perform amazing. They have over 50,000 miles and they still have about 6mm of pad on them. Paired them up with the coated Bosch Quietcast Premium rotors which now have a super smooth glass-like finish on them. My 2006 Matrix stops on a dime with zero brake noise.

I've only hear about Akebono a couple of weeks back when I was searching for brake pads for my girlfriend's 2002 Accord EX (Inline 4 engine). I have been procrastinated and now it is squeaking loud and have to do it soon sometimes this week :( Let me try the Akebono this time on her Accord. On my personal 2009 Sonata, I have PowerStop rotors and pad kit for the front installed. Haven't done the rear yet. Should I put Akebono on the rear of my Sonata, too?

My go-to for every vehicle I have ever owned (and I've personally owned over 300 vehicles) is Akebono Pads with Bosch Quietcast coated rotors. Low dust, no noise, great stopping power and they last a very long time. And the coated rotors look great as well! Best of all worlds IMHO! I've tried several other brands over the years but they all seem to have issues.

99.9% of Brake Pads “do the job” for soccer moms. How are these better? You give no mileage specs, no brake distance comparisons, no heat range specs, rotor wear comparison etc. They come with hardware and grease 😱….so do all the other premium pads, including Akebono. You might be right, and you might be wrong, you gave us no facts to be able to tell which it is.
@TurnTheStoveOnBlaze
@TurnTheStoveOnBlaze 2 года назад
Actually he did give proof. He showed the back of the brake pads. If you look close, you can see the "GG". That means these Bosch pads have a coefficient of friction of 0.45+. Anything in the 0.45-0.55 territory is a high performance brake pad. Most OEM brake pads are 0.25-0.35. Hope this helps.
@BigBear--
@BigBear-- 2 года назад
@@TurnTheStoveOnBlaze yeah that tells me nothing but the rated range. All breakpads that are rated GG don't perform the same. There's huge differences in performance within the range, regardless of which range you're talking about. That's basic info, you can usually find from the manufacturer. Again that tells me little about how they compare to other competitors pads in the range. Even the ranges aren't a particularly great way of baseline pad selection, an FG pad can have much higher braking performance than some GG pad, even though the GG has a higher cold rating for friction. Depends on what you're looking for, driving style, climate, vehicle load, wheel weight, etc...What I wanted to know are comparisons in stopping distances under various speeds and conditions on the same vehicle, wear time, brake temps under load, heat soak times, etc...actully useful info in deciding on one pad over another.

I've asked different car mechanics in my area. 2 of them told me they'll install Bosch disc brakes and pads. Another one said "Ate". As a ordinary consumer, I have no idea what to choose from, but ... I guess Bosch is a pretty good choice then for ordinary car use. I tend to wash my car approx every 14th day, so the problem with brake dust will not build up, I guess.

You have a good point. But I’m telling you. Picture this, it’s crisp November Saturday and Bundys cousin wants to put new parts and rotors on her Miata. She bought all the parts and got Akebono pads. With dirty hands and tools on the garage floor, we finish the job. Top off the brake fluid, push the brake pedal 10 times and she’s ready to go. Well she takes it out and asked me to drive it around. Well I have to tell you I’m not impressed by Akebono at all. I tell her about Bosch and I actually buy them for her. We slap those bad boys on and she is way happier, stops on a dime now! So I don’t have lab results, I have seat of pant results.
