I'm a fan of your show, you're super detectives and I enjoy watching you. You are far away, but the show broadcasts in the Czech Republic, always looking forward to Saturday and Sunday serial
Titus is sensational in this role. He plays the tough guy really well - but its the tender scenes with his daughter and ex-wife that really brings the character to life. Great show - and with so much great source material - long may it continue.
When I got an Amazon prime membership I kept seeing this "Bosch" show popping up as a suggestion. I wasn't really interested but finally gave it a try. I ended up binge watching through two seasons. After watching the first season I didn't think the second could possibly be as good but I was wrong. Now I can't wait to see the coming season and I'm reading the books as well. Really great show...couldn't recommend it more highly.
PDTALLMAN, pretty much the same for me. What was compelling about the first season (I haven't caught up with you yet) is how likeable a lot of characters are. I refer specifically to Bosch's ex and daughter and the lesbian lieutenant. Also, how Bosch responds to his Hollywood division coworkers. There is a warmth there that is missing in other cop dramas. I guess it makes Bosch's situation a lot less hopeless.
This is a fantastic show. It’s actually really annoying how the seasons are so short. Also how amazon puts all the episodes out at once. Because I’ll kill the whole season on a Sunday. And then have to wait a year for the next. But whatever. The show is amazing. The characters and the plots are amazing.
It is 2019 when I post this and I just finished watching season 5, which was again, fantastic! I am re-watching all the previous seasons and notice little things.......SPOILER ALERT if you haven't watched season 1 and season 2 stop here! . . . . . Ok in the first season, Mads is checking out Harry's house and finds spent rifle casings in a a mason jar on the counter. Then in season two, Harry is attending an Officer's funerals ( no names on who was killed) and Harry is seen picking up one of the spent rifle casings from the ground (rifle salute at funeral) and later puts the casing in the mason jar. Harry explains to Chief why he does it. It is the details that are great. It is the writing that is great. It is all the actors that are great. I look forward to season 6 of Bosch and the continuing adventures of "Crate and Barrel".
As Michael Connelly said, Titus Welliver IS harry Bosch. I could never see anyone else fill this role AND the audio narration by Titus on the audiobooks is a perfect match!!!
Hello Michael Connelly, I one day in cvs I bought my first book "The Overlook". I decided to stop drinking and I thought I would have free time to read, so many years later plus sober I have read all your books. I want to let you know Michael Connelly that I have 3 son's and my twins are juniors in cerritos high school ca. And I named one of twins after you Michael Connelly. Thank you for helping me be sober. I would love to buy a signed book by you, a Harry Bosch novel. God speed to all of you Michael Connelly. Amen.
One of most honest interviews I have ever seen. Michael Connelly just laid it out there.Very refreshing without an interviewer who interrupts and distracts.
It took me about 3 episodes to really "get" Welliver as Bosch (I've read every Bosch book & had my "Bosch" locked in my head), but after 3 shows I realized what he was doing with the character & have been knocked out by Welliver --& the rest of the cast-- ever since through the 2 seasons. (I can't wait for recently announced 3rd season.) Now when I read Bosch I see Welliver in my head. All Bosch & Connelly fans owe Amazon a a huge thanks for letting Connelly, Overmeyer, Welliver & Co. do their thing. This show alone is worth my Amazon Prime subscription. It is the best "cop show" since NYPD Blue. "Bosch" is "Breaking Bad" good.
@@joeygirl314 I tend to agree. Hill Street Blues was excellent. NYPD Blue was great too at the beginning, then I felt it lost itself and I lost interest. The Shield was another great.
If you love Bosch, you'll love HBOs The Wire. A lot of the same crew are involved from actors to producers to directors. It's a much more gritty show.. But just as captivating nonetheless
Andre G Dude I recently watched the Wire for the first time and loved it. I thought it was cool how they don’t just show the cops they show the drug dealers a lot too. A lot of cop shows have one dimensional bad guys that just have a scruffy beard and scowl cuz they’re so bad lol.
So happy this is on Amazon; it's another reason to get Prime. I love Bosch. All the casting is so good and they've done a great job of adapting the stories.
Just watched the whole season 5 in three days! Like a good book you can't put it down! I love this show and Welliver is superb! I'm going to watch it again this weekend!!!
The LA vibe--that is another element that Bosch gets right. There are a couple of other writers who capture what LA is about, now and in the past, and it's not easy to do well. For a character like Bosch, you do not want a matinee idol, as they say. And the other characters need to have an edge to them, too. Hats off to the casting directors for nailing it.
The casting. Is perfect! They got the looks and personality of Harry, unlike Tom Cruise as 6'5", blonde Jack Reacher. I hope they will make lots more of this series. I loved every minute. I have read all the books and can never wait until the next one is "born".
+Susan Kolpack Girl, you hit it right. I actually cried a bit when I found out Tom Cruise was playing Jack Reacher. I don't know what Lee Child was thinking, but a short shitty overly-hollywood Scientologist ain't what I see when I read the books. Titus Welliver, however, is perfect as Bosch (although he doesn't match Mr. Connolly's descriptions) Welliver has soul. Cruise has nothing.
pbshelleygirl don’t worry honey, Tom Cruise is well respected and has acquired more money than fifty of your generations combined will ever have just in his lifetime. Thanks for sharing your bullshit opinion tho 😊
Karan Patel well it’s obviously apparent that your more of a Tom Cruise fan then a JackReacher fan, don’t get me wrong I like Tom Cruise movies,.in every Jack Reacher book Lee Child describes him as 6’2” and 240 pounds so how does Tom Cruise fit that description?who really cares about how much money he has.oh I guess you do!!
Having read all the Jack Reacher books, I knew that I would just hate TC playing the role. I'm not a TC fan either. Surprise--TC is Jack Reacher. A most pleasant surprise!
Titus IS Bosch personified. I can't think of anyone better suited to play this role and am so happy that Season 5 is coming up - just wish I didn't have to wait a whole year to see it!
Having read and enjoyed all the Bosch novels I could never get a really good visual of Harry in my mind. He was always a muted, shadowy image. When I first saw the (excellent) Bosch series I realized they could not have picked a better guy to play Bosch. Titus Welliver is as perfect a character transported from fiction as I have ever seen. Now I'll never be able to see anyone else as Bosch.
Wow. Spot on - "...a muted and shadowy image." Neither could I ever think of a face or actor for Bosch, but while I may come up with the perfect one in my head, that would only be in my head. Welliver is darn good though, so I'm good with that/him, and I'm rushing to sign up with Prime and check it out.
This is the sort of well thought out treatment that Jack Reacher needs. Love Titus Welliver as an actor. he has a presence that I can't put into words.
@@sherylhoward4831 Hey Sheryl, did you see that interview with Lee Child where he said that the response from fans was prompting him to look for an unknown actor to do a Jack Reacher series? That's well worth waiting for. Hope you're doing ok with our new world. cheers
@@pthompson108 Thank God! Hell the descriptions in the books are no where near Cruise, no matter how much he builds himself up! I will give him credit for trying though. I am struggling though, I have only a few more weeks of funds left and I just found out my state's unemployment will only pay if I go hunt for a job. I have health problems that makes me stay home except for groceries. It's quite scary, few people wear masks etc. Hope you are doing well.
I agree with you. I want a real life-like actor to be Jack Reacher. I love Tom in other roles but he dies not quite "measure up" to larger than life Jack Reacher !
What's spooky to me is that Titus not only nails the part, which is of course the main thing, but he also looks almost exactly like what I always envisioned Bosch to look like as I read the novels. It's quite uncanny.
Bosch is one of the Reasons, I watch Amazon Video. My Wife & I just Love the Series and can't wait for each new Season. I hope it continues for a very long time.
I gotta say, the Amazon Prime films are really good. Like a foreign film, they take their time, let a scene breathe. Brilliant writing and great casting, even the cinematography is top notch.
I believe there are 23 books on Harry Bosch, I read them all and they are exceptional. If you like to read you will enjoy the show more after reading the books.
Love Bosch. Great TV writing. The peripheral characters are all interesting too. Kind of sad his ex was written off. Harry Bosch has a strong moral code, but lives in a world of greed and corruption. He wins some battles and loses others.
Stumbled across Bosch on Amazon Prime Video...to my great surprise and incredible delight. Titus Welliver is incredible. Writing is superb. I've watched all 7 seasons and the 2 Bosch Legacy seasons. Now am re-watching from the beginning. Comes with my highest recommendation. Great TV.
I had read all of the books before seeing any of the shows. I LOVE Titus as Harry. I envisioned him physically a little bigger, but he really gets the character as Michael wrote him. Keep em coming!!
Harry is not a big man. You may recall he was a tunnel rat in VietNam and those fellows had to be able to crawl through those tunnels dug in the jungle. Scary as hell.
Years ago, and in support of one of the novels, someone in the production chain had a video preview of the new Harry Bosch book. Harry was investigating a homicide and was looking inside a garage at a car. I thought to myself, Oh no... Please don’t have this actor play Detective Harry Bosch. This was not the character that I saw in my minds eye as I read the novels. Having read all of the novels I absolutely knew what Harry looked like and how he moved about. The actor in the video preview was not the Harry Bosch that I knew. However, the instant that I saw Titus Welliver portray Harry Bosch it was like my mind’s eye vision literally jumped out and onto the screen. Thank you Michael for writing real stories of police work, the way you you bring these novels to life. Thank you Titus for delivering a performance that is above all believable and for your incredible ability to make the magic happen.
I just found this on prime a couple weeks ago...I had seen it in my pages for years and not sure why I never clicked on it. What a tremendous show...probably my favorite show possibly ever.
Having enjoyed the Harry Bosch books I was really looking forward the the shows. After watching the first trailer I was not sure if I would like it because Titus Welliver did not look like the Harry Bosch I knew from the books. Took about twenty minutes of the first show to convince me that his was Harry Bosch.
So glad I've found this show on Amazon prime TV. Titus's acting is impeccable. He is so flawed and human. Handsome for the ladies but relatable for the guys. I've been binge watching this series for days. I wish it would go on forever.
I absolutely LOVE ALL of Michael Connelly's Bosch books! This Bosch series has been phenomenal and I pray that more series are coming very soon!! I can't get enough of Harry Bosch! Titus Welliver is amazing and the PERFECT Harry Bosch!!
You could not have found a better actor to play Harry Bosch. I love the books and can't wait for the next season on Netflix. Keep writing and I will keep reading.
Just watched the last season and I am very sad it's over. One of the best shows I have ever watched. All of the characters were multi dimensional and just a perfect cast. I am in love with Harry Bosch!
I found Bosch/Connolly about twelve years ago while vacationing on the Pacific Coast. In a second-hand store, my wife’s son pointed me to “Trunk Music” as a “great read”. He was so right. I devoured the book, tracked down every other existing one, then waited for each new one to come out in late Octobers. In some ways the show is even more compelling than the books for me, because the casting & production is so great… almost like Hieronymus Bosch was in control of his own story. Welliver “is” Harry Bosch, and the supporting cast is of equal brilliance. Grace Billets, Crate and Barrel, Maddie, Eleanor, Irvin & especially J. Edgar are richly depicted, drawn out & real. And on and on. The casting, production & performance is top notch. My wife has often mentioned how great the soundtrack is. Every detail has been nailed down perfectly. Even the intro is hard to skip. We just finished season 6; I’m crossing my fingers that LT Pounds gets his just deserts as he did in the books… Now I need to reread the books, since I’ve spent so much time “with” the characters. Now Legacy is available; I hope for even more. Thank you Michael Connolly & everyone involved with this wonderful project!
I’ve just finished the latest season of Bosch on Amazon, just spectacular! Love Titus Welliver and all the actors on this show. Michael Connelly is a fantastic writer, my late Dad Stanley loved his books also. My son and I are massive fans.
I am so grateful that Michael and Titus have accomplished the writing and acting along with all the other contributors. It is very human and LA ish. I hope they have a long run and continue this amazing story.
Our favorite show. We watch the original series over and over to the point of being kind of weird. The characters and stories are so compelling. We never tire of it. Even though we pretty much know all the dialogue now. Hope they bring back the original series. Miss it.
Do not plan on doing anything else when watching BOSCH, it keeps you glued to the set and watching more than a couple episodes. I watched all in one week.. I've read almost all of Connelly's books and Titus is exactly what I pictured as the character. Fell in love with his mannerisms and character early in the series. Wanting more very soon....WHEN?
...and the fourth season is the best yet imo. I really enjoy the slow, methodic, yet very articulated pace of the episodes, and the continual character development that is constantly surprising. I also enjoy the cinematic style, with its dark, yet rich moods. The way they transition into the well choreographed opening credits and song don’t hurt either 👌.
Titus's soulful yet subtle performance is right on the money, I think a lot of it comes down to the deep timber of his voice. The nostalgic part of me wished that he had the same dark eyes as Bosch in the novels but good call on not giving him a mustache.
Angela Chan I agree about his performance. He's walking a thin line between subtle and monotone. A person not familiar with the character could perceive him as boring, and that's the challenge really, since Bosch's personality sort of lands on that line. It's about why he's so tragic and quite. Welliver does a great job of keeping him on track, and allowing the context to clarify why Bosch is this way.
I have been and always will be a fan of Bosch, the character, the books, and the show. What a great job of casting on all levels. I can't wait for season 5.
I love the character of Bosch and Titus plays the role the best way it can be. I have seen the 7th season righ now in Spain and I will love to see more. Well done. Thank you all.
There is no one that can play Harry Bosch like Titus Welliver. I've been following his career for years, as well as the Bosch novels, and I'm glad his found his iconic role.
I've read about five Bosch books now, and Titus does a fantastic job. The book character seems a little more hell-bent on showing up "the suits", though the screen Harry certainly doesn't endear himself to them much either. He has the Vietnam era vet era thing down pat... and it informs where Harry's drive to seek justice and bring order to chaos comes from. I always end up binge watch the latest group of new shows, and miss them when they're gone.
Cannot remember why and how I read the first Harry Bosch, but got hooked, and have read all the books and seen all the episodes thru 4, with 5 next and heard that season 6 is in the books. As a Los Angeles resident for 50 plus years, one of the highlights of Bosch books is the true locations throughout LA, I find my self following a map! Met Titus last week at TalkLA at the New Roads School with Michael Connelly and spent at least a half hour with Titus and a couple of fans, chatting about various subjects, he was very open and generous with his time, and looking forward to many series.
I love the books and now love the show! I don't have Amazon but my brother does so I watch it when I am over his house. I think that is good as I can't binge watch it too much. It's like a fine wine, not meant to be consumed all in one night. P.S. I also loved The Wire and Treme.
I love Titus as Bosch. Perfect man for this character. I have been reading Michael Connally 25 years at least. Bosch novels have been and still are, by far, my favorite!!. I literally love this guy Bosch. I know him, I support him! I can't wait to catch up to season 6 and then new season 7. I only get to watch Bosch when visiting my daughter because she has the primetime Amazon app in her smart t.v. unfortunately I am unable to afford these new luxuries. So, at bedtime I sleep in my visitor's bedroom but not before watching a couple seasons of Bosch to entertain me. Thank you so much Michael Connally for being the phenomenal writer you are, and for Titus Welliver for bringing Bosch alive on the screen. Please keep it rolling as long as possible. Stay healthy and stay safe.
This man is a brilliant actor. Hoping to see more of Titus Welliver in the near future. My husband and I are addicted to Bosch and can't wait for Bosch Legacy.
I've just finished watching Season Six, and Bosch has continued to be the best show on television. As a retired cop, who led a homicide unit for a fairly major agency, my standards are pretty high for authenticity. Michael Connelly's novels are the best of the genre, and they've provided the superb foundation of this series. And yep, Titus Welliver IS Harry Bosch. Well done, everyone!
You are the guy! I admire you so much Titus. There is something about you that touches my heart. I feel like you could be my brother. I am so excited for the new series. Nancy in Colorado
I wish they could bring Matthew Macs Mickey Hale into the Amazon Prime world. That was a decent film and I think it would serve better as a TV series that could cross into the Bosch series and vice versa.
As long as Michael Connelly has been writing Harry Bosch novels, I have been reading them ... all of them. It is always a mystery to me how a writer can avoid the tendency to freeze a character in time. Connelly has managed to avoid that in an eloquent manner. Life moves on ... Harry moves on, just like all of us. To me, Titus IS Harry. I cannot think of anyone who could better handle the complexities of being Harry. I will miss the Amazon series. Hopefully, the series will be around when ever I need dose. Good luck to you, Michael as you move forward. I am glad to hear you say that you plan to keep on writing. Go Gators!!! Titus, you have captured the character as well as any actor I've seen capture a character ... and that's good when the character is in MY imagination !!! Good luck to you in Season 7 and as you move on into whatever you undertake next.
gobyebo good point. Has the same kind of presence. I could easily see him doing Chandler characters, film noir. Put him in a suit, fedora and a dimly lit office and he fit.
I am in the 4th season….wow the stress levels, the lack of sleep the emotional turmoil Bosch is going through - no one other than Titus could have pulled it off! Fantastic!
I currently purchased 3 mow books from Michael Connelly and since I already read, more than 8 books about Harry Bosh. I really like the episode probably one of my all time crime detective episodes. There is so many details and since I love jazz ! Its just the perfect combination. I cannot understand why Titus has been so under rated he is the perfect match to act Harry Bosch.
When reading the Bosch books, you get a figure in your head who Harry is. With Connelly getting the rights back was monumental, Harry stayed to the books. In watching season 1 the thought to me was will the actor 'be' Harry. Titus nailed it in every emotion conveyed.
My husband and l have been binge watching Bosch for about 2 weeks and have seen all 6 seasons. We are looking forward to season 7. We are very sad that 7 will be the end of Bosch. We really have enjoyed this show Bosch so so much.
I have read most of the Bosch books, and am now on my second run at watching the DVD series of Bosch, I only have season1,2,3 and 4, and Titus Welliver makes a excellent Harry Bosch, may Bosch be around for many years to some.
Titus Welliver is totally amazing in anything he does, Harry Bosch is so him, but l agree he is so under rated. Michael's books are incredible and once you start reading, you be become so involved , you just need the next and then the next , thank heavens Michael has so many stories of Harry 👏👏❤️ for us.
