Hey Everyone!
This is an update on my original install video of the water heater. 8 months and the anode rod is completely gone! Looks like I have very hard water. Will need to inspect exactly 6 months on the nose to keep the tank maintained.
Here are the links below to help out.

Just a suggestion, but write on the outside of the unit when it was last serviced.

Thanks for this. I have been putting off my replacement anode rod thinking at a year on city water it couldn't be that bad. I pulled mine today and there was nothing left except the rod that holds the anode. It looks like I'm going to check mine at 6 months going forward.

They bury that anode rod! I had one of these rust to failure by neglecting that anode rod. I wish they would make that easier to service like my RV water heater. I remove the anode rod to drain the RV water heater. Seems Bosch could have done the same. I just replaced our Bosch 2.5 gallon. I guess I will set a calendar reminder for 8 months to check the anode rod. Thanks for posting this video!!

I have a 1.3 gal unit anode on inspection had plenty life in it but want to get spare for replacement can you share a part number or the words you used to search Amazon because I can not find any small threaded ones like you found thank you

@@gregweider7475 I’m not sure. I don’t even see a 1.3 gallon water heating unit available on the Bosch website.

Amazing work; thanks dude!. I wonder about your water quality..

Yeah, its not the best. I'm in a smaller town next to a main city, and we get the city water here while people closer to the other side of town are in the fire district which the water is far better

I can’t believe how much zinc is produced per sink-full. I have very well balanced city water and I get a lot of zinc debris which makes me think they installed anodes which are too sacrificial
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 Месяц назад
Yeah who knows. I thought my city water was a bit better quality controlled. Just means that the maintenance intervals are going to be more frequent in order to prolong the service life

Might be a dumb question but I would be installing the 8 gallon Bosch tronic in a 1965 vintage camper... It would go in the under closet/floor compartment and it fits nicely but if I will be hauling it out every 6-8mos for service I'm worried about weight and maneuverability if it is full of water. Is there an easy way to drain this while it is installed so that I can remove it empty and not throw my back out? Great vid! Thanks so much in advance!

There is no drain port on these point of use hot water tanks. Yes that is a lot of water to move. What you could do is disconnect the supply line, and using low pressure (below 60psi) compressed air with the faucet spigot on and the aerator removed, you can use the air to push the water out of the tank. It will be significantly lighter to move at that point
@JuneZandona

@@Bassguitarist1985 good idea. Might also build in a slide-out drawer for it to sit on like you see in cupboards so I can slide the tank out laterally and then remove it from there.

Are you on well water and do you have a water softener installed? If not I would have one installed asap. You should also install a whole sediment filter too.

City water. Will have to look into a water softener
@YukonHawk1
@YukonHawk1 10 месяцев назад
@@Bassguitarist1985Definitely di it soon. It will save your appliances that use water and add years to their longevity. A sediment filter will help also

@@YukonHawk1 I flush out my house hot water tank once a year and I just recently changed the anod in that one back in April this year. The next big investment we're going to have to do is put in a new central air system so the water softener may have to wait for a bit.

great video, one question, did you have low water pressure as the rod wears? My unit, 14 months old, still produces very hot water but the water pressure out of the unit has diminished noticably.
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 6 месяцев назад
Yes. The sediment at the bottom of the tank clogged the aerator screen on the faucet.
@wrthomas69
@wrthomas69 6 месяцев назад
thank you but what's odd is only the hot water pressure has decreased, cold water still flows like always, if it was the aerator screen i thought both would flow slower. I have ordered the anode rod anyway, I will service the unit this weekend, thanks again for the great video.@@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 6 месяцев назад
@@wrthomas69 you are very welcome. You need to check the inside for sure. Decrease flow means there is an obstruction somewhere. Chances are it's all the sediment. And it may have clogged your faucet valve as well. Do a video and send me the link! Thank you again for watching and supporting the channel!

I once had a uv laundry pure water ionizer unit that had a silver anode rod I would have to replace. Yah... there was nothing left. They clamed the thing was nasa tech & no soap is needed. worked well but the waterline solinoid valve in it kept triggering the washers water pressure sensor & it would lock up the washer untill reset with the secret fault reset button press code sequience.🙁 Got old quick when you come back & your washers on strike, "they work better on a washer without a brain"✌👍
