That's a great point about the small batches in the mixer. I have the Nutrimill Artiste (which is made by the same people but the less expensive mixer, with a lot more plastic, etc.) and its capacity is a bit lower than the Bosch, and I find that I do NOT like to knead just a 1-lb. loaf in it. I use it only for 2- and 3-lb. doughs because that is where it seems to do best. I COULD do more, but find 2 to 3 lbs. at a time much more user-friendly. The Artiste -- from many reports -- is NOT so good for making things other than bread (due to the paddles, etc. breaking and whatnot). But I only use it for bread doughs, pizza dough, rolls, etc. I do just about everything else by hand in a nice big ceramic bowl. The Artiste is around $300 now. I got my Nutrimill Wondermill electric grain mill (steel impact mixer; not stones) during Black Friday 2023 for under $200!). I love having the Artiste mixer because I do NOT like hand kneading! I didn't know when I would EVER be able to buy either one of those, but I am SO GLAD that I did...!!! Now I am in full-blown bread making mode and we never buy bread at the store anymore -- and my 69-year-old housemate seems to be getting real health improvements (such as no longer needed to use her walker around the house for the first time in over a year!).
I can't tell you how many years I've had mine for. But you're lovely. You reminded me of how to use the parts...mine was the basic one and then I ordered part by part as I could afford and they didn't send instructions...LOL. FYI, my shredder is completely clear if that dates it. And nope, no squeaking. I was kinda considering downsizing mine but na, you're right. When the garden comes in, it's really handy. Haha, I had no idea about the cord storage...I thought mine just had a short cord.
Wow this review was extremely helpful! My sourdough and other baked goods business is picking up so I’m researching a bigger and better mixer. Thanks so much!!

Thank you so much for such a well thought out & complete review after a year! It answered all of the questions I had, lid, pros & cons, use, extra attachments, if you still liked it, value, & if worth the cost ...wonderful review. I was thinking of getting this mixer for my daughter for her high school graduation this year. She is going to go to baking school & I thought this would be an absolutely wonderful 1st mixer for her. To practice at home, and make bigger batches if needed. (I want one too. 😂 Amazing!) I am going to show her your review once she gets it to help her in use. Thank you! Oh and the side swiper cleaning attachment blew my mind! 🤯 Genious!
Thank you for a very honest review. You managed to answer all of my questions !!…..you went above and beyond explaining for each problem. I do own one of the largest Kitchen AIDS ……but have seen people using this one for bread making…….and had wondered if it would be worth it to invest in the Bosch, just for bread…..I think it is….and that’s because of you!……by the by…..you talked about Black Forest Cake (my fav) and I just found out last week that to stabilize whipped cream…..one tbsp vanilla pudding (dry mix) into one cup whipping cream The squeak doesn’t sound good at all. Could you phone Bosch before warranty is up?
I’m so glad my review was helpful! I love my mixer…. Worth every penny! I hope you’ll use my affiliate link when you decide to pull the trigger…. I have a code KMBAKERS20 to save an extra $20. During the current Mother’s Day sale, the code can be combined with the sale price. Appreciate you watching! 😊 Happy Baking
I have every attachment that has been available since 1980 including every instruction manual that has been published since 1980 also….including the vegetables peeler bowl and my original ice cream maker….I think I have 14 attachments all together. I LOVE my Bosch.
Great review thx! It must be very sturdy if you use it that much for that long! I’m just about to purchase one but deciding between the white plastic or the stainless steel version. I really prefer the white, but some people say you need the stainless to make meringue. Have you ever made meringue with yours? Thanks again! I’m so excited lol!
Hello! I’ve not made merengue, I’m wondering the reason why stainless is better. I like the idea of the bottom drive bowl myself, without the center column. Though I have read the stainless steel bowl is not dishwasher safe. I hope my review helps with your decision. Please consider using my link and discount code when you decide to pull the trigger. 😊 Use my code KMBAKERS20 for $20 off nutrimill.com/KOWALSKIMOUNTAIN Appreciate you watching.
@@KowalskiMountain thank you I sure will. Evidently, any kinds of oils, fats, etc...even the most minuscule amount will prevent the meringue from stiffing up and fluffing. Since plastic is porous (which seems counterintuitive), it can hold tiny amounts of fat, oil, grease, etc...from previous use. Stainless does not possess this characteristic. To be honest...I'm not going to let meringue make my decision haha...I'm going for the white. I discovered that you can buy the stainless bowl separately and use it on the white base. Problems solved! Thanks for the reply!
Great review! And, yes, my shredder attachment squeaks, too!! I've put some veg (or olive) oil on the part (one of the the gray post parts) that I thought was squeaking, but it only helped for the first block of cheese-shredding. It's still a fab machine. I also got scratches on the center column, and had some issues with dough getting inside the center column, so they sent me a stainless steel (European-style), no center column, bowl. It does a great job with massive amounts of my fresh-milled breads. But I haven't figured out the secret to getting the dough to clean the sides of that stainless steel bowl. Maybe because it's stainless steel it won't? 🤷 The European-style bowl is definitely easier to wash, and I do more bread making than anything else, so it's fine for me. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed your video.😊
Ohhhh thank you so much! I appreciate your kindness!! I’m so glad to hear I’m not the only one with a squeaking issue. I would love a stainless steel bowl… that’s amazing they sent to you as a replacement. Appreciate you watching!
My sister has the larger kitchen aid and is pleased with it. She annually makes monster cookies which is a huge batch…. I personally don’t have experience to compare.
Hey lady, be happy with this mixer , sounds like your finding things wrong with it. I’ve had mine and attachments plus tons of extras. Just use to have the stainless steel bowl and I gave it to a niece and got the plastic one, it’s way better. I leave the stem in the bowl when I wash the bowl, and periodically I will pop it out and wash it. The bowl and attachments are so simple to wash lol! I have and never will put this in a dishwasher ever! Enjoy this wonderful machine and stop unnecessarily picking it apart! Kitchen aid is crap in comparison js
It’s a review… I love my machine but a thoughtful review picks apart an appliance so people can make an educated choice. It’s an expensive purchase that should be made with all the facts.
