I love my proflight 2s. Work great even in noisy piston aircraft, good to hear the engine a bit and how it's doing. Like the independent ear volume on the A30s, that pretty cool.
You should do a review of the Delta Zulus as well, they have a very nice safety feature built-in them which is the CO detector. Pure genius. At that price point I think you get pretty much all the same comfort/noise reduction anyway, but if you have a feature like that built-in, for me it would be a no-brainer.
I’d have to own them and use them to review them….so that’s not high on my list just now. Thanks so much for watching and taking a moment to comment! 🙌
Agree with some comments here. A20 and the A30. The A30 slightly more comfortable, but the A20 are better in all other aspects, including noise canceling.
I flew with those Bose headset as well. However, my longest flight 7.5-8 hrs (with a quick fuel stop) I found that the pressure on my head from the band starts to get annoying. Also turning my head kind of abruptly “shook” the headset a bit. I ended up buying Clarity Aloft and LOVE it. In ear header and I can take one off quickly without disrupting the other side ear piece giving me a sealed quality so I can still hear the radio with absolutely clarity. All in all the long cross country is where I find the big over ear headphone to be heavy and cumbersome. Just my two cents.
Did one flight with A30, One thing i found really annoying is that if you move your jaw a bit more than usual , it will create revving/popping noise. which can be very cumber some while eating food
The A30 tends to slip off during acrobatics, than the A20 due to less clamping. For acrobatics, using the A30, you have to position the top more forward on your head.
Well, Paul, all I can say is, that’s not really a problem for me because I’m not doing any aerobatics, lol. Thanks so much for watching and taking a moment to comment! 🙌
No, you need a special audio adapter. Visit my fly with Trent website and click on the Products link to take you to my Amazon store and you’ll see what you need.
I love the A20, seems there are only minor updates with the adjustable noise cancellation and different padding (memory foam now on top?) I've tried to use the A20 bluetooth for conversations on my cell phone. The Bluetooth works flawlessly connecting as a headset to my Android phone, except I get complaints the audio is not good and they have a hard time hearing what I say!?
I had bought Dc/ Bose/lightspeed ANR, to try, And rugged, instructor series, PNR. Just returned dc’s, they might be ok in the quiet environment - my ears were ringing after 2hr flight with them. Couldn’t figure out what I was paying for with Bose, over lightspeed. Hence, still have rugged and lightspeed seems to offer great anr, out of the 3 ANR headset mentioned above. Be nice to test other ANR sets. If anyone knows of any worthy competitor….
Some reviews state that controller box feels like Chinese quality compared to the previous model A20. Also clamps are supposedly so week now, that when you look down while wearing them, they literally want to fall of your head. On top of that a lot of reviews stated that there is a noticeable static you can hear while in use, and that the voice sound is so high pitched that it is actually annoying. This is all with comparison to A20’s. Now can you verify this for me please? The reason I’m asking you is because I’m on a market for a set, and so far based on all the reviews I’m strongly considering to go with A20’s.
Yes, I really enjoy having it. I use it so that I can hear the ForeFlight alerts from my iPad as well as being able to listen to music on cross-country flights.
I've just created an Amazon store with a list of the products I use/recommend. www.amazon.com/shop/flywithtrent?ref=ac_inf_tb_vh If you use this link to shop, you will be helping me to generate funds for scholarships, product giveaways, etc...so thank in advance!
I've only flown with non-noise cancelling headsets provided the flight school. I've been looking to buy my own headset recently and been struggling with the noise-cancelling vs non decision. Personally, I've found it really beneficial to be able to hear the engine/airflow in my training, so I was thinking non-cancelling. U have any thoughts on this? Thanks
You will hear changes in the engine better with ANR than regular headsets. I have flown 8000 hours with LightSpeed Zulu and its successor 2 and 3. Most of those hours were 8-10 hour days in blimps which are a very high noise environment as the envelope amplifies all the sounds. I know some pilots prefer the Bose, but I can personally attest to the comfort of all the LightSpeed Zulu headsets as many pilots never wear them as many hours straight as I did. Longest day was a 15 hour flight. I do order the Oregon Aero replacement ear covers and replace the factory ones the minute they come out of the box.
Personally i would say the headset is not a good place to cheap out. Having a high quality and reliable headset is very important, especially for beginners as radio communications are one of the more difficult aspects for new pilots to pick up on.
@@st33lw0lf6 I definitely agree with you, but if I can find a way to save money, I will! With all audio products, diminishing returns are extremely apparent. I have spend WAY too much on audio throughout my life, with very little improvement from the cheaper options. Also, I've always thought that Bose products were overpriced.
How noise canceling compare to Bose qc45? I was thinking to buy A30 for my semi truck, it’s so loud around 90db all the time in cab, I’m mostly driving it off road and on private roads, but need something over my ears because old truck is so loud
No it’s not. Flightschool that I am attending is not large in their primary focus is training, CFIs and multi engine pilots. For a time, I was mentioning their name in the comments, and they asked me to stop because they could not keep up with all the phone calls that my channel was generating. They have asked me to stop, mentioning their name on my channel and I am respecting their request.
Did you know Frontier is hiring pilots who haven’t even completed Private License yet? Plus giving them a monthly amount of money based on total hours. We have 5 students who applied and got hired to their program.
@@trent_dyrsmid you know I am that way too but the 20 Buck shades keep breaking or I keep losing it. Buying expensive ones made me take really good care of them and I always know where they are because I don't want to spend the money again.
Hey Trent, when is that flight school video that you mentioned coming? As someone who wants to do the same sort of thing, I'm very curious to hear how you did it.
Turns out the school doesn’t want me to do a video on them. When I simply mentioned their name in the comments, there phone would stop ringing and they are already pretty much at capacity. Oops.
@@trent_dyrsmid Oof, okay. Most schools I am seeing are in the 70-80K Range so was definitely curious to know how to lower that in an accelerated course. I guess I'll just find a Part 61 instructor who has good availability instead. Thanks for the response.
Yes, that would do it for you. There’s nothing special about the school. They are part 61 school and that’s why I can do it for less than a part 141 school.
I'm having weirdness with my A30's in my Glasair Sportsman. Feels like the ANC isn't as good, and that I have weird instances where it feels like ANC drops out in one ear or another randomly. Comfort wise they're better than my A20s, but the ANC thing is bugging me.
