I find it absolutely disgusting of Bose to not provide any resources themselves on how to fix this issue (as obviously thousands of people have had the same problem). I even reached out to their customer support and all they could tell me was "sorry, we can't help with this product at the moment" (for a speaker they are still actively selling!!). Luckily your video helped me resolve the issue myself so I am truly grateful to you! Thanks a lot for making and uploading this video.
I had the same problem with my Bose 700 Soundbar... White light did not stop for long and would stop with a Red light. As per Bose site I did soft reset, hard reset didnt work. Then I took the Soundbar to Recovery mode but then the white light did not stop moving from left to right. Finally got a USB A cable, connected it to my laptop, download the update from Bose site and followed I instructions. As you said after installation I left the Soundbar for 30 mins and it turned off on its own. I understood issue was fixed. Then I got the device paired to my mobile Bose Music app easily. Thanks a ton!
Having the same issue with my soundbar 500 but in case I can't put it in service mode... Tried many combinations in the remote but without success. How could you put it in service mode to access the update page?
Hey my speaker had the same problem for like a couple of weeks to nearly a month. My speaker is the Home Speaker 300. Watched your vid and literally followed all instructions. I downloaded the Home Speaker 300 download file from the BOSE site instead of 500. I was done in like 10 minutes after the file updated. My speaker playing fine again now. Hey, do you remember when did you press the volume + and - buttons? I tried right after plugging it back in, waiting a bit... but it doesn't enter into service mode

You rock Kris. It worked on my Sound bar 300. Bought the system just 3 days back and was frustrated with this issue. Your video helped me to fix it. The learning is never switch off the power or Wi-Fi when the software is getting updated automatically. We get the white light (left to right) when the software is getting updated automatically. We should also tell others who are operating the system. Thanks a lot man.
Works perfectly, thanks a lot !!! Speaker was blocked, showing the white light from left to right. Pushing + and - was not an option, so I didn't do that. Drag drop file, and wait 10 minutes. Wifi reconfigured without issues. Happy as happy can be. Thanks a lot.
I tried this but can’t do the manual update as it requires you to press the - and + button simultaneously which I can’t do as none of the buttons are working
thanks very much, you have simplify the resolution of this problem in few minutes. i solved the problem with the connection directly on the WIFI of the Bose home speaker 500. i didn’t try it with any usb Connection. i think when you have this kind of bug, it comes from the Wifi of your home, perhaps for me it was because of a different passcode than before.
It worked for me. Actually first you download the product update file and keep it in your computer. Then connect the speaker with computer with usb cable even if blinking of white light remains in same condition. Pressing vol - and vol + buttons will not do anything but you can go ahead with rest of the sequence. When file upload is complete and you disconnect the usb your speaker will start working.
@@Thuongmtd yes it doesn’t do anything. Even if u press both buttons white light will continue blinking as before but your update file will be transferred to speaker. After that you disconnect the USB and restart speaker it will work
for those that pressing the vol - and + buttons did nothing. I held the - by itself for 5 seconds and then the + by itself for 5 seconds and that worked!🎆🎆🎇🎇. We had our speaker for only a few weeks before it went full bose on us and left it in a corner for 6 months until now.
Hi friend, I followed everything as you mentioned and it uploaded the file and an error message came up saying “that didn’t work, try downloading the file again “ I retried few times but no luck. I’m using a MacBook. Could it be the reason behind this issue?

the soundbar 500 is not responding to any remote control commands including volume plus and volume minus together..so i doubt whether uploading file will work since service mode is never switched on as soundbar is not responding to remote. please guide...
totally work. use via USB but ur internet should be not cable connect. just wifi only and connect with stable USB A to Micro USB. I was reuploaded 3 times to get success.

In the introduction part,you said no other buttons work apart from the action button and microphone button.How do you get to press the volume - and + buttons if they ain't working? I find that a bit off.Anyways,mine has this issue whereby it's stuck in the loop,and it switches on and off every minute.So the method still wouldn't work as there would be interruptions.

En mi caso no podía acceder a las funciones para reiniciarla ni resetearla. Al final de cuenta fue en la página con instalación manual a traves de cable, una vez se conecto a la página realize el procedimiento y el equipo quedo completamente funcional.
hello, another possible solution is to leave it on near the wifi where it was configured. My bose 500 took 1 week to update as the manual update was showing an error.
dont wait for the count down it will not appear because you screen will just continue to light the same way. after you press the - + for 5 sec just continue to next step.
Good day sir thank you for your video. I have tried this but it did not work for me . As my bose 500 keeps disconnecting before I can even upload the file. I have the white light passing from left to right for like 35s then it goes black for about 2s then starts back left to right. At the time it's going left to right I can connect to the update page and start upload but once the lights stops passing the speaker disconnects and the update stops. Please if anyone can help I will be very grateful.

I have a question that. If i connect with computer i’ll enter the website right. And if i can not connect the bose with computer the website can’t be connect. Is that right.
Just follow the process. It will not go away until you manual update it. Just find the update for the 300. Some in the comments said that they have fix the 300.
