A while ago I reviewed the Bose A20 and in this video I discuss the new Bose ProFlight Series 2. I discuss the differences between the A20 and ProFlight Series 2, as well as the improvements regarding the original ProFlight headset. The ProFlight Series 2 offers everything pilots appreciated in the original ProFlight, but now incorporates some significant improvements and updates based on the feedback pilots provided. @A320 REMF - I used to fly a turboprop but not anymore. I do have a pair of Dave Clark h1013.4 from my PPL training days but I don’t use them anymore

Nice to see you back! I am not a pilot but I can attest to Bose quality over the last 50 years. Besides innovation, the warranty is sometimes overlooked when considering headsets but Bose stands by their replacement policy. Recently, I was in the hospital in China and my Bose NC headset had been damaged. Once I made it back to the US, I found a Bose store and asked about the warranty. Now mind you, I did not buy them at this location and I did not have a receipt for the original purchase. However, the Bose warranty is good as gold no matter what the situation especially when I brought the headset back in pieces. I walked out of the store a very satisfied and lifetime customer...there were no questions asked.

For me I'm using Bose A20 on Airbus. I ordered Jabra Elite 75T with active noise cancellation for cruise and external walkaround. I used Bose QC25 for external walkaround but not convenient and taking too much space in flight bag.

@@ThomasProsserZurich Hi Thomas, A few months ago during one of Mentour's Q & A videos he noted he had had some preliminary contacts w/ Capt. Joe about a joint video but nothing came of it. As I recall Mentour said something like "I guess Joe lost interest in the project and now I have as well."

Great review! If you’re wearing the Proflight 2 headset and the batteries go dead do you still get ambient connection so you can talk to ATC without noise cancelling?

Instead of rattling down a lot of marketing blabla it would have been really interesting to e.g. try out the Proflight 2 in a GA plane and let us know if you think it's effective there / making it a viable choice.

As I student pilot in the Cessna, I use the A20. My instructor uses the Clarity Aloft with no noise canceling, I am still amazed at how he can understand ATC calls.

The Clarity Aloft has the similar noise reduction performance as high end ANR headsets. So he can hear ATC just as clear as yourself with the A20 👍. The issue is you need to be comfortable with have foam earplug in your ears for hours on end, unless you want want to get custom moulded silicon earplugs.

Hoi Michelle, leuk je weer eens te zien. First, I hope you're doing great and everything is going as planned. Interesting video especially because I switched "jobs" (from virtual Pilot to Music-Composer). In both of these hobby's good quality audio is an absolute need. I'll keep it short because the audio-needs for Pilots and Composers are very different. Nevertheless I also use "active-audio" to reduce or enhance frequency's. My question is: If Bose uses active-reduction, I can imagine certain frequency's are suppressed (Engines, airco and electronics). Will it still be possible to hear "abnormal" sounds (like gear- or mechanical problems)? Or will these frequency's also be suppressed? Thanks for your explanation and stay safe up there ;-)

Hello, I also use the proflight, when I put the noise reduction at "max" feels like i have a lot of white noise so on medium feels quiter. Do you have the same experience? And did you notice any improvement in the noise reduction? Thanks Roger

I use the cheapest shit available, real professional pilots don't care and would never spend their hard earned 'peanut level' salary on a pair of Bose headsets, the $1000+ price tag is basically over half of your monthly salary lol.

Hi girl, as you know I couldn’t wait any longer for your review 😉 Turns out I should’ve waited for the series 2, but who knew it would come out this quick. The A20 would be too much on the longer intercontinental flights, and with my cockpit being quite silent to begin with, I feel the proflight is a better fit for sure. Music whenever I feel it’s appropriate and not disturbing with the job. (So mostly X-Atlantic or when waiting for pax. Thanks for the great video 👍🏼

Currently i use the Bose ProFlight, with custom earpieces. It has its downsides, especially the inadvertent tap-to-talk activation during take-off and landing is quite annoying. However, it is quite light and not as huge in the flight kit as the A20 so currently i do prefer it over that, and yes, i do own both of them. However, a slight increase in battery life, a lighter cable (never had any issue with the cable in an A320) and a firmware upgrade (there is actually a micro USB port in the battery case for that, but they don't offer any software ugprades) is not all that much for a very expensive headset to begin with, even with the 20% price reduction i get if i order it via my employer. Especially considering that the first version is just over a year old since release. Considering how long the A20 has been in production without any change, Bose really dropped the ball on the ProFlight in terms of testing, quality control and design. Very un-Bose to be honest.

Can you make a video about what sorts of unusual aircraft make you most thrilled when you see them? I am thinking about old, vintage, or military, or research, prototype, etc. Could you talk a little bit about how the interaction is between civilian and military planes? I have noticed that military planes don't show up on sites like Flightradar, so I assume they don't broadcast their telemetry like civilian aircraft do. Does that pose any challenges?

I am a GA pilot. Meaning noisy environment/ cockpit. I fly with a Lightspeed Sierra headset and am extremely happy with it. It’s ANR is automatic and works Very well. It can be turned off if needed. The Bluetooth feature works perfectly automatically cutting off when radio traffic comes

I like the UFQ L2 headset better. Lighter, (no weight on head) more quiet and it's 1/3rd of the price of the Bose. You can see reviews of it on Amazon, but you might be able to get it even cheaper on eBay.

Hi there! Just reach out to local flight schools and ask them about their requirements. Some airlines have a limit of 157,5 so you would still be good ;)

I'm having a really hard time deciding between the A20, the David Clark Pro-x2 and now the Proflight2 that will come out soon. On my previous job on the 757 (noisy) I had company provided headset but now I fly 737 (even noisier) and I need a good one as soon as possible. Which one would you recommend? My main requirement is that I want to use as little ACP volume as possible to preserve my hearing and my longest flight is around 4 hours x2.
