I would love to hear some of these comparisons: battery life, sound quality from near and far, bluetooth connection stability, pairing with another speaker for party mode (if possible), max volume, different genre of music.... if it is not TOO MUCH to ask... :p
Speaker Toni your bose soundlink 2 doesnt have a battery issue it's just that when you leave it dis connected for a long time or dont use it, it goes into factory mode so that the battery doesnt rot or completely die.
*This is my **Newest.Technology** second one, the first was for my older car. Alexa works way better than an FM tuner bluetooth or for hands free calling. We found it also worked great on the boat. That is why we now own two Echo Auto's.*
I cannot believe so few people have watched this video. It is fantastic. Thanks Toni for doing it. Love your videos and your voice as well. I have now bought 2 of the big boys and they are fantastic!! I am very happy. As you noted …. for listening to various styles of music at reasonable listening levels - these send out a hifi like sound and fill any room. As a stereo pair - they are amazing. I took them outside in the garden and they filled the whole garden with sound from every angle. Thanks again for the video!!
Glad to see I'm not the only bluetooth speaker nut in the world. I not only buy them, but I build some pretty insane bluetooth speakers. I built a 500 w speaker with focal speakers, focal amplifier/subwoofer and pioneer bluetooth receiver. I'm addicted to high quality sound!! I don't think I'll ever be satisfied...
I tested a bunch of portable systems today and landed on the Big Boy Revolve+. Even though 90% of this system's life is going to be spent in my kitchen where the smaller of the two would have been more than enough there are times when it will go outdoors and the little extra punch will appreciated. The 360 sound is very nice. The design makes it look like a kettle and the smaller one looks like an oversize salt or pepper shaker. The big one is a bit on the bigger side, calculated it to take up almost 2 liters of volume compared to the smaller one being just above a 1 liter, size matters when you are packing a backpack. The weight is a bit closer, one being 600 grams and the other being a full 1000 grams. Still glad I went big. The vertical form factor of the Bose packs a lot of sound into a reasonable space.
Excellent detailed analysis. I got the Revolve based on your video for my brother for xmas. Sounds great. I plan to get more for me and the rest of my family, but only after you put up an Amazon affiliate links (I suggest for both the Bose and JBL products). You deserve to get paid for creating such good video.
your explanation @ 14:50 is spot on . I think there could be an advantage of directional speakers when recording the sound compared to boss none directional designs , I think they will be appreciated more in person . because when you did face the bottom of the speaker to the mics, it sounded much better .
One of the best and making sense to brain video out there. This is what you do with a new speaker compare with all the others in same segment. Good job and thanks a lot for this.
Fantastic comparison video. Thank you for the binaural recording. That is what I needed to hear to fully understand the sound coming from the speakers. Everyone else can only record what their mic picks up and it just isn't a true representation of what the speaker sounds like. Many thank yous for doing this for us all. =8-Þ
adam young X they are not haters the just don't like it because its overpriced. But okay the best sound quality and everything but its not worth it for a speaker that have a normal bass that distorts at 70%
Because they are JELOUS.....I have a mini 2 ( the only Stereo Bose..), and 2 Revolve plus, on 1 meter trépied ( for photo ), which is a Stereo maybe expensive, but easy to move, and VERY Powerful, NO Distortion, and Perfect Treble/Mid/Bass, BOSE IS A MUST FOR PEOPLE THAT CAN REALLY HEAR WHAT QUALITY IS..., cuz not everybody can...
Nice comparison Toni! Keep up the good work and you will have more subscribers soon. Clavinetjunkie aka "The bt speaker king" is still the king of the hill, but you never know what happens in the future☺️ As a harman kardon/jbl fan i must say that i am quite impressed by the big Bose. My friends soundlink minis do suck, but Bose might have done something right this time around..
Bose always has more power but because their speakers are made from paper, they use reducers to cut base or even mids or highs at higher volumes to protect the speakers.
Hey Toni. Do you recommend the Revolve+? I saw that you commented on another RU-vid review video and it seemed like you really hated it. Is it just over priced for the sound quality?
Thanks Toni for doing the review despite it is late night for you! I had the same feeling as you when I compared Revolve and Revolve+ at the shop - seems that the smaller one has cleaner treble and mids for certain songs. The big one could drown out the treble and mids when its powerful bass comes in. Hope when you have the time - to compare the B&O A1 against the smaller Revolve!!! Can't believe NO ONE has done that yet lol... considering both are in the same price bracket and both are omni directional. I noticed while A1 has deep bass... it gets lost the minute you are about 2 meters away. Hope to hear from you soon - thanks!!!
Jordanlah The A1 give you the deeper bass(not boost), better treble and mid. They almost provide 360 degree sound. But the A1 was arrival more than a year, I mean you might found more cheaper price. Of cause the BOSEs' should be the winner on Drop test.
Mr. Magnificent: Wow can you point me to the place?? The only one I could find was Oluv (Clavinetjunkie) Unboxing and first impression - but it was unfair as (i) speaker was freezing cold (ii) power was at 20% (power saving) (iii) not enough genre of music. In fact the next day he said he grew to like the Bose in another video.
Nice, they also look quite good. Interested in the A1 comparison, since I gave one to my father as a gift a while ago. OT: Any news when bluetooth 5.0 speakers will arrive? I did not find any set date so far.
Jbl sounds like a small radio on high volume the tweeter sounds like an old sound system sorry.Bose sounded more like a big speaker with deep sound. Bose for me.
I bought the Resolve Plus and thought it sounded awful. Bass overpowering all other frequencies and fatiguing. Have the Resolve on order in an effort to get a better sound - more balanced with reduced bass.
Very confused with your comparison of Soundlink Mini and Revolve. You say the Mini sounds more hollow - with my studio over-ear headphones, I hear the total opposite: the Revolve sounds much more hollow, bass isn't as deep and treble never matches the Mini (when you direct it towards your ears). Are you sure you didn't have purchase bias?
The larger Bose sounds okay but the smaller one doesn't. I wonder why Bose still won't use seperate woofers and tweeters. They still rely on fancy dsp settings and port tuning. Sorry for my little rant Toni, I have a bad past with Bose and I'm still upset. Love the build quality though. I think this design was definitely made for taking the speaker out and about.
David but I have to admit that they do a better job with using only one drivers than JBL for example. With JBL you get a lot of intermodulation and here it remains clean.
I saw a video from Bose where they connected two Bose Sounlink Revolve speakers only using the buttons. Can a Revolve Plus and a Revolve connect only using the buttons? Or is this a feature only if you use the same type of speaker, and need to use the app for a Revolve Plus and a Revolve?
I purchased a used charge 3 and hated it so I sold it. Meanwhile I tried a friend's Soundlink 3 and loved it so much. I was going to buy it but heard Revolve + is coming so now I'm waiting for it to come to India. I hope they are as good or better than SL3.
I ran into this video because I wanted a Bose Revolve and I am leaving wanting to get the JBL. Lol, its obvious the JBL sounded better even though that is not what this review says.
Speaker Toni, what speaker would you say gives the most "punch" for around 200$ while still being somewhat portable, and somewhat durable? I live in the US so I can't get the dockin d fine😔
Easton Eddie if you don't need something portable I'd take the JBL playlist or the b&o S3. If you need a battery you should go with the b&o a1, the charge 3 or the revolves.
No corecct test. Jbl no heave details in higest freq. Only midrange speakers , daily bass. No 360° Jbl it's only for teenagers. Bose heave details pease, real natural sound. I tested to live . Sorry don't spek eng. audiophill
A month ago, sondlink mini 2 was the "best speaker ever". Now it sounds "simply not good...hollow, simply not like speaker should sound" So, what can I believe? Revolve seems to have treble problems. Which one has better sound quality and better for personal listening?
If it was a joke, this revolve review can be a joke as well. I am thinking of buying my first bose speaker and I don't know which one is better. I have charge 3 and I hate the muffled sound. I hope to have a better experience with bose, but these reviews don't help me. Revolve seems to have a strange treble. What do you think?
jc ca I make those videos to give people a good sound impression. So if you listen with a pair of headphones you should have an easy decision here and you wouldn't need to ask me... But if you want know, I think the B&O a1 is right for you as it has some nice treble and deep bass.
I have been reviewing the revolve. I can get over the loss in clear and direct vocals. I am I crazy. I found the charge 3 better. Hmmm. What about the revolve vs revolve plus is the plus worth the extra. Or is it the same just louder. Oh..... I did not wait to see your whole video. Revolve plus. 🤔
scamhealy haha, I know the video got extremely long but Iam struggling to decide between these two as well. For me the small one is more fun and looks better as well. I will do a sperate video only for these two so we can hear which one is nicer.
You're biased toward the Bose. WE have ears. The JBL sounds much better and you don't have to lift the JBL off the table trying to hear the treble like you are doing with the Bose.
The handle on the revolve plus ruins the design. It's not a big speaker, it can easily be handled with one hand. There was no need for that ugly handle
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ru-vid.comUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
Hi friends Im travelling to US and I want to buy a bluetooth portable speaker under usd 500 priorizing hifi sound. The Bose Revolve + is the best option, or what else coud you recomend?? Tks
dteicher you should definitely go for a Vifa speaker if your focus is on HiFi sound. Either the Oslo which is exactly 500$ or little Helsinki for roughly 400$.
Tks for your quick response, i'll consider it, but i think its not easy to find it in a store and i dont want to buy it online. Second alternative, more US based? Tks again
Alexandru Simonescu I have one and I should've used it. I think you have to get used to the sound because I start to appreciate it more and more in time.
