Boss Analysis # 34 - More Pathetic Final Bosses 

“Oops, I didn’t put the battery cover on and the batteries fell out when I shook the Wiimote.” Everyone makes mistakes. And by far, that was the most unexpected one of the century.

Funnily enough I believe that in Kid Icarus Uprising they make a comment on how the medusa fight in the original was a bit anticlimatic

Super Dimentio has some of the same attributes as Luigi, being a fusion that includes Luigi. So the reason he’s so easy is likely because he does things.

To be fair, after the bleck fight, and all those cutscenes, you don't really want to die to Super Dimentio. He'd suffer the same fate as Gygas then!

Oh dear, Dimentio is on the thumbnail. Funny thing is, Dimentio is actually a tougher boss than Super Dimentio; he even does more damage (Super Dimentio CAN hit you for 6, but only with one move, and Dimentio can hit you for 8). He’s a bit more of a respectable Final Boss if you go for a low level playthrough (meaning you’ll be at level 5, with 20 HP and 3 Atk), but Count Bleck still gives you much more trouble.

"It's kinda sad he's one of the heroes destined to save the universe and now he's its greatest threat" Yeah but he's an easy boss because he still is trying to save the universe. HAHA! TAKE THAT!

I love Super Paper Mario, but gosh, all the bosses are so easy. It's probably because of all the items you have. But can we all agree that the music is great?

Ok, here is my revision of Mr. "Super" Dimentio. HP is 1000. ATK is now 50. Forced to be Mario. Standing on a platform makes it shoot out some box projectiles horizontally, and vertically. The boxes do 10 damage each. Original box spam now has a 30% chance of spawning a bigger one, which explodes into smaller boxes diagonally, horizontally, and vertically. The bigger boxes deal 15 damage and home into you slowly. S. Dimentio's stomp now has shockwaves. They do 20 damage. Another attack: Shoots a barrage of tri shot boxes from it's body, as you are dragged slowly toward S. Dimentio. They do 5 damage. Disables 3d mode. If, somehow in 3d mode by cheats, S. Dimentio will instantly kill you. 2nd phase improvements: Revision to platforms mentioned earlier: Now they shoot diagonally. S. Dimentio now has a 10% chance every second to shoot a ring of boxes from his body. The trishot projectiles now home in, but stop after 3 seconds. Rainbow lightning occasionally strikes with a 2 second warning. The width is about the size of a platforms. Damage is around 30. The shockwaves now are 2x bigger, and now leave a trail behind. The stomp now shoots 2 rings of 8 boxes at each foot. The platforms occasionally shoot a array of boxes at you. You can't change your stats. 3rd phase: Renamed to Supreme Dimentio Forced now in 3d mode, and cannot go into 2d mode, and will have rainbow triangle projectiles that fly by on the ground in 2 and 3 toward your direction The projectiles do 25 damage each. Platforms are now gone. S. Dimentio will emit a big spiky box projectile that explodes into smaller projectiles in all 6 directions. It will land in a proximity around you. Each projectile does 10 damage. No Pixls. About half way to S. Dimentio, a probe will spawn, which will shoot homing rockets toward you. Jesus, now this isn't a boss fight. It is hell.

Two interesting facts about the Metallic Madness boss - - It *does* have a name... Sort of. There's a piece of concept art for an earlier version of the boss that labels it the "Psycho-Egg" (or Psyco-Egg to be precise). The closest thing to a name it has besides that is the achievement for beating it in the 2011 remake calls it "Dr. Eggman's final machine". - Speaking of the 2011 remake, there was originally an extra zone, titled "Final Fever", which was to be accessed by collecting all of the Time Stones, but time constraints and Sega having a desire to keep the game closer to the original killed the idea. Whether it would be a better conclusion to the game or not I'll leave you to decide.

When I played this game as a younger kid, I absolutely struggled on the final boss of SPM. Now, I just use Bowser + Cudge on a High Ledge + Attack Doubling Item and go "wtf I don't remember it being this easy"

I see you've finally played FE5. One of my personal favorites from the series in my opinion. Also as the Kid Icarus one was playing, I was playing Dark Pit in smash. Coincidences can be fun sometimes. Also, the first time I fought Super Dimentio, I somehow got stuck on his ruffles, so I was endlessly jumping on him. It w as a pretty effortless win.

I was super underleveled for the Super Dimentio fight and never stocked up on healing or power booster items. But, I still beat Super Dimentio my first try. Just jump to the top with Bowser and breathe fire on him after the invincibility goes away and you can easily win.

I miss your voice narrating the lines, but still good video! Not many people played through Thracia 776 and know what a weak final boss it has.

Never play Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest, I see? Well, the game *was* this easy to begin with because Square thought the RPG genre was too difficult for western audience. You'll see what I mean if you play the full game.

Speakkng of easy bosses in Super Paper Mario, I once defeated Chapter 7’s boss by using Luigi to get between him and the roof and doing my best impression of a blender.

so super dimentio dies in 4 hits, and does one damage to a character who has at least 40 or even at least 50 hp I don't have any words

25:50 - Whoa, for a moment, I thought I was playing the game! I'm recently going through this game, and was going to play some more after this video. On that note, I guess people like Gary and Dane aren't really that strong intentionally due to manipulation being their biggest strength. They usually make others fight for them, since they can't to afford (or more likely perform) the dirty work themselves. In the end, you reveal they're just as Gary would call "wannabe tough guys." In other words, I like to file them under, as you say, "a nice way to wrap up the game." I'll see the rest of the video later. I don't want to spoil too much to myself for now.

Someday, a Paper Mario game should have some kind of throwback to previous antagonists like Dimentio. That would be so amazing and would breathe a little new life into that game.

I remember playing Jedi Survivor earlier this year, not gonna spoil the final boss as the twist is best experienced, but, in a game where most bosses took me several tries, to beat the final boss in one try was just hilarious.

A couple months ago, I was struggling like a mad grape to remember: Who was that nutty RU-vidr who had a Sam-voiced rendition of "I Need a Hero" in some of their videos a million years ago? And here he is...my hero in the morning light, strong and fast and ready for the fight...and to reignite my love for terrible weird things from all over the retro gaming world. Thank you for keeping it going all these years. How can I possibly repay you??

It took me _almost_ _an_ _entire_ _decade_ to defeat this guy, and now you tell me there's an exploit that could've saved me the 9 - 10 years of struggle?

Ah ha ha. You seem quite oblivious to the fact that I am the brains, not the brawn. That whole battle was just to distract them from the end of the worlds! Plus, it's all just part of the plan to convince you that Iam just a weakling... And, do not dare to insult my dear Luigi ever again! He has proven very useful indeed...

Super Dimentio is easy lane, but the ending is one for the books

Ah the memories of picking up Saints row 2 and Super paper mario way back when without knowing a single thing about them or having internet

luckily kid icarus uprising gave us a much better medusa fight, and amuch better final battle.

What makes the Gary fight easier is the fact that you can upgrade your attack power, which if you got maxed out you could probably defeat him in less than 2 minutes maybe even 1, and thats not even accounting for the fact that you might have the 5 hit combo move at this point of the game

At least Super Dimentio's theme is pretty good.

It's been a while since I played SPM, so I don't remember all of it. I feel like the concept of the gameplay had so much potential, it just wasn't used properly. I'd love to see it used again and improved upon. Also, THAT's The Ultimate Show? I've been hearing hat song for years and completely forgot it was from this game!

I gotta say something, the death of Super dimentio is the most confusing thing ever. The dude is a fusion of Dimentio, Luigi and the chaos heart and as fusion law works, all ingredients involved would take harm equally so if dimentio would die, so would Luigi! And yet he gets out of there unharmed. The main body of super dimentio is formed by Luigi and the chaos heart and all dimentio really adds to the creation is his name and eyes; so if you take Luigi out of the equation as shown when he dies; the whole thing would unfuse. So all in all Dimentio shouldn't have died. Thank you for your time and sorry for any mistakes in this comment

Lol, I struggled on dimentio, but I used peach, hid under her umbrella and stayed there for the rest of the fight. Did nothing else

Imagine Super Dimentio but with 600-900 HP and most of his attacks do up to 100 damage and ignored defense increasing effects

As fun as they might be to play, it stinks when in order to progress in certain games, you have to go along with the villain and clean everything up afterward. I guess you could say that like in Jimmy's case, he did more harm than good, but it's still counterproductive in that universe.

I personally think the attacks shouldve been faster and dealt more damage. Aswell add some new ones as the fight goes on. Example. The white boxes do 10 damage instead of 3 and super dimentio begins to shoot lasers and black holes at half health

this list is missing the spider mastermind in doom 1, you can literally just run up to him and one-shot him before he does anything; difficulties don't increase enemy health or anything, so you can one hit kill him in all difficulties

To make things even worse for SPM, Bowser's slowness can be negated by Carrie's floatiness and speed, thus making the bossfight EVEN EASIER.

Things is, Dark King and Dimentio are both from super easy games. The mechanics make any fight cake, though I have thought about ways to make SPM harder besides making enemies do more damage so that you die in 2-4 hits like in most Mario platformers. In that Fire Emblem battle it looked like you were exploiting a game mechanic, skipping past all the troops to assassinate the leader. Bacterion in the Gradius series holds the crown. Always at the end of a notoriously difficult shmup, always the easiest thing in it. The one in Gradius III doesn't even need to be shot- it will eventually die on its own. And now with voice acting it's developed a habit of trash talking before going down. Ohh, there's an idea for Boss Analysis: Bosses whose bark is >10 times bigger than their bite.

I feel like Gary is meant to be easy, he is a sleazy manipulator who got the entire school into a civil war, his fight is pretty much a power trip

For this list, I'd like to nominate the final boss of Demon's Souls, the spiritual prequel of Dark Souls from From Software. A real pushover that Old King Allant is, not only in comparison to the other bosses that you fight earlier in the game, but also when compared to some of the tougher enemies that you fight as well.

The problem with Super Paper Mario is that most of the enemies appear to be lazy copy-and-paste from the previous game. Most of those stats work in a turn-based game, but not in real-time, where you can attack whenever. And hit rapidly in mere milliseconds. And get +Attack from level ups. And get multiple 2x multipliers. When I normally make it to the end of a 100% playthrough, defeating everything exactly once (i.e. no grinding), along with the Attack Ups, I usually have an Attack of 15 (maybe even higher, I don't remember). But, let's say my Attack was 13 instead to be a little generous. +Bowser (2x) -> 26 +Bowser card (2x) -> 52 +Mighty Tonic/Bone-in-cut (2x) -> 104 +Boomer/Thudley/Cudge (2x) -> 208 Yes. Just one hit and he's dead. I don't know what the heck they were thinking with such low HP levels. If he had 999 HP and better AI and Attack (like 15+), he'd be a much more intimidating final boss. The HP/Attack scaling for the enemies should've been much higher.

I absolutely love Dimentio, but even I have to admit the final boss was a little sub-par. I had more trouble with the Mimi rematch earlier in the chapter. If He had more defense then the Fight would be way better.

... How ARE you supposed to fight Sonic CD's final boss without taking damage? Is it even possible? I even see Tool-Assisted-Speedruns where people just tank the damage.
