Boss DD3 Vs Behringer DD400 - Which is better? 

I've just realised the Boss actually alters the sound! give it an almost treble/top end boost! almost add a bit of compression to it. The Behringer dampens the sound a little n quietens the guitar a bit which can be altered in the mix. Interesting. do you agree?

I've got 3 DD3s, a DD2 and an analog Behringer delay on the way. I usually use the DD2. For a while every time I saw a DD3 I bought it. Used to own a Digitech delay and another DD2 that was in too good of shape for me to feel good about using- sold it to a collector.

Both very good, think id lean towards the boss myself or as always go the mxr route ;) Crackin vid as always mate, you ambient sounds master you ;)

Loving your videos Joe. Pretty sure you listen to the same music as me. How do you compare the behringer with a DL4? When making postrock stuff I don't find another pedal compares to it for versatility.

I have the Behringer but it does seem the Boss has a stronger initial signal. Worthy to note that as you shift the level up on the Behringer you get you get dry kill it goes 100% wet.(that's why I got it. For parallel loop use) Does the boss do this? Could that be causing the level difference? Love to know. Thanks.

Clean 0:33 Behringer 0:55 Boss 1:36 Very similar but boss has more clarity and adds in some high frequencies. Maybe because the buffer? Seems like the behringer was more true to original signal but boss subjectively enhanced the clarity.

Might have to pick up one of those Behribgers

i need a delay only for a few gnr songs. Is worth spending money on boss just for welcome to the jungle intro and some pieces? do you thinkg behringer can do the job? thanks!

You know the saying .... " buy cheap buy twice " ( or even 4 times.... ),,, that is the way to do a close up .. best i have seen on youtube for common sense regarding that . This is exactly the way it should be done..

Good comparison, I don't use delay so much and I'm just using it for Incubus songs and the DD400 is a good and cheaper alternative for the DD3

Nice comparison man! Excellent work. Seems like you get a lot more for your money with the Behringer. I think having a more trebly delay will help with cutting through a load of layers and keep the sound a bit clearer, but to be honest I only use that DD3 on short delay and virtually turn it into a crisp reverb. Looking forward to the tera echo - don't be afraid to show off some skills so we can hear how they sound properly in action!

I prefer the tone of the Boss whereas I prefer the added functionality of the Behringer. Considering both, I’d sacrifice the tone for the function and go with the Behr. Something that should also be considered is the fact that you could drop the Boss out of a plane and have it survive. Kidding, but if you gig you might go with something tough. The Behr is more of a home body as this little sucker is plastic and have heard war stories about that fact.

If you use the dd400 in mono for mono it sounds as clear

I hit thumbs up before you turned on the delay because of your tone. And then with the delay, WOW!!!.

you could have adjusted the 1000ms range to match the boss 800,, the behringer sounds like there is verb with he delay some times and the boss is just dry delay,, we know the boss has been on some epic record and stages and gets the job done, not a bad clone id say

I've got a Berhinger delay and I notice the same slight loss of tone you're getting here. Must be the components are not same quality as Boss. The Boss signal sounds more pure.

The behringer is not only damper but it dampens the original signal first comparatively. Like a tone suck. I personally dont mind this in pedals and effects but it makes the boss sound HIFI in comparison. Both different styles for different uses and both would have different uses for certain mixes

Vids should be "blind". Don't show the pedals and just say "A" vs "B". That's the only way to trust your ears.

I'd say that someone who has money for a boss pedal shouldn't go cheap but the behringer is good for the players who don't have as much to spend on pedals

Behringer all the way. Way cheaper for the exact same thing. Honestly behringer and boss are almost the same thing. The only thing is that boss has s higher reputation

They are both digital with the exact same chips(cloned and perfected. Ive even heard the chips for both are made in the same plant on the same production line), any difference you hear is less about the brand and more about a minor difference in the chips regardless of Brand. ie you can hear a difference between two pedal of the same Brand, manufactured by the same person on the same day, with the same lot of chips. Try a double blind(to you and the audience) with two Boss Digital delays and two Behringer Digital Delays and see if the differences are actually the Brands, the specific pedals, or "Price/Brand" bias. yea, 8 years later...but I can send you my Boss and Behringer digital delays if you need them to do the test with two each.
