BOSS GT-1000 | First impression (Talking)

Just FYI, you can click the big WRITE button three times to save. Also, you CAN change cabs and mics. You can also reassign all of the footswitches to whatever you want. If you want to visualise what CTL 1/2 are assigned to, you just need to be on one of the other front panel display modes that shows everything.

Finally an honest reviewer. Most "reviews" these days are people who get paid by Boss, Mooer, etc. and basically only focus on positives and no negatives.

After I looked at the video, I thought: The title should have been BOSS GT-1000 or Helix? And under the heading "The Author of this Video is in love with Helix.".. cccc my friend, in this video you mentioned name Helix more than the GT1000! I have been using the BOSS GT10 for 10 years and it's very good! I have never been bothered by some things as you stated. It is necessary to press the write button several times to save the patch! or while you are in the Menu mode that you can not change the patch.. so that's logical to me! By the way, you did not specify the ability to control, and edit through the mobile application, or what is most important, under the number one is the sound and possibilities, and not the discussion about the push of the button write 3 times ... to save the patch. To be honest with you, after this video, I got even more wanted to buy boss gt1000 because it's certainly much better than the current gt10 that I have Best regards from Bosnia!

I really appreciate the honesty in your review. I like the integrity you put into it. Pretty much all the more popular gear "reviewers" never mention the cons of things; they mostly just make small talk, go over specs, and play on their guitars as they mess with knobs. They always glance over flaws that might be of concern to players because they don't want to stop getting gear sent in.

the thing about ctl 3 not being able to use for something else unless you lose the tuner (@7.15) isn't quite correct - I like to set the expression pedal to heel fully down brings up the tuner....leaving all 3 ctl switches available to set to whatever you like. Always ways around! The Line 6 Helix (which I also have) I must concede though is a far more easier user friendly user interface.

You can change Cab and Mic Settings, it is on the far right of the Signal Chain. (When in Recording Mode). You can also load IRs into it now. I agree the Interface is terrible compared to Helix. The Transparency and Dynamics is very nice though (because it has 32-bit AD/DA and 96 Khz Samplerate unlike the other MultiFx)

Correction in your video: The GT-1000 definitely is more compact than the GT-100; not the other way around.

No one is talking about the HeadRush? who says? The HR is about the easiest unit to operate. Mine also has 4000+ IRs installed and thousands of rigs inside. Still have space for much more.

So right man regarding the menu interface. Boss/Roland has gone in a weird direction regarding that after the Roland VG88 came out many years ago. Never could understand why since older preamps like Roland GP16 where much easier and logical to configure

I got my line6 helix lt 3 months ago. And I am really happy that I made a good decision,,,, I hated Boss since its release on Gt10 and Gt100... after watching the review on boss gt1000.... I still feel that it's way too complicated to use like its older products.....For me Helix lt sounds absolutely amazing and is super easy to use and be creative with it.....

Ugh, this is why I was attracted to and purchased the Katana Artist 100 - simplicity. I never use it with a computer, just turn some logically labelled knobs and go.

Use the app on your computer it’s Awsome way easier and you can dial killer tones

My friend, you have produced an excellent review but the GT1000 and the Helix LT are 2 different animals and it's like comparing apples with oranges. Yes the Helix has a better interface but some have said it's too complicated. The GT1000 interface is pretty much a follow-up to the GT-100, BOSS used the KISS principle with regard to the effect chain. If, you are familiar with the GT100 you will probably have no issue with the GT1000 interface. Remember, these modelers are just a palette for you to develop you tones. To think that you are going to power it up and get fantastic tones right out of the box is very naive. You need to really dig into learning these units to be able to get the best out of them. Once you learn the unit and have spent mucho time with it a new world of tone is your paradise. IMO the GT1000 is more analog sounding and responsive to your playing technique than the Helix. But this is just my opinion. For potential modeler buyers please don't let this review be a judgment call for you. Get out there and try the GT1000 don't let some dialogue or video make your decision.

Boss GT-10 has the best UI amongst the GT series, with tweaking you can get very good tone out of Boss GT-10 & Boss GT-100, the amp.models needs a little help from EQ and cab mic placement to sound fantastic. Boss should have concentrated on amp modelling with the GT-1000, they should atleast add the models from the legacy GT series. Mooer has done an awesome job with their GE200. Thus now it seems Helix, AX8 and the upcoming Mooer GE300 will be the main competitors in the $1000 range.

Awesome video, I have a Helix Floor and an HX Stomp, my next purchase will be the Fractal FM3, no more Boss for me thanks :)

Have you ever considered that you may be a little biased, You don't need 200amp models as most amps are based on 10/12 basic amp category......any amp can be simulated with a drive, Amp IR and Eq. Helix is a very good product but somehow professional musicians can get a better tone with Boss GT-100 than HD series...and You can clearly hear GT-1000 sounds more Pronounced than Helix in the demo by Glenn Dnell.... Except Fractal which is clearly the best emulator, Kemper Helix GT-1000, BIas can be tweaked to sound to similar level....Helix lacks mid clarity of Kemper and Fractal The Mooer Ge300 is great but lack Low end

A good honest review. I owned mine for two days until I decided to sell it. The effects and clean tones are phenomenal. But the amp models were bland.

Good video. I really think that Headrush worth a try. It seems to be really good tones and effects.

Hi Soulhenge !so they're claiming that this has the same effects as the rv500 dd500 and the md500 which are quite expensive if you buy them individually. Is this as true as they advertised? because if that's the case, this unit might actually be worth the money just for those effects alone.. hope i get a response from you I respect your opinion and insight alot!

Hey, do you know some pedal-multifx-processor-"toy" wich actually does the work? I tried a lot of stuff (Line6 and Boss never). Tonelab has the best sound for me. USB audio interface is good. Metronomes and drum machines are good for practice and composing. Expression pedal is important and the flexibility to assign any parameter to the pedal is also important (for example: gain of the amp simulation). There's no problem if the amps and cabs are "glued" if you can turn the cab OFF and use only the amp simulation. So... I searching for something wich I can play using as a good pedal set in front of a real amp + use as audio interface + amp simulations using headphones or as a pre-amp plugged in front of "generic" power-amps + looper and metronomes synchronized + GOOD TONE + comprehensive layout. lol. (this one you showed from boss makes me crazy with these strange controls and giant effects chain.. no need for this)

I think you exaggerate on the reviews, with complaints of stupid stuff, honestly you were talking more bad than good, and i have this unit, all you got do is get use to it. Yes no color screen, I agree but the menu settings? Seriously dude... Come-on.. anyways, I watch your reviews, tough I didn’t like much about this one, you still did a great job, and have been doing so, keep it up!

With a screen that freaking big, why is all the text so damn small?! And why did they choose a screen with that bad ghosting and response time? Yeah some of those design decisions are absolutely boneheaded and stupid.

Hmmm, "The destruction of the BOSS GT-1000" would be a more appropriate title. Thanks your for your detailed video review. Thank god that I bought the full Helix 6 month back. Because I' m left-handed, the only thing I miss on the Helix is a second joystick with push button on the left.

God, the UI of this thing is just like shit.

Bank up and down are where they always are on boss products. I feel like a lot of your problems stem from being used to Line 6 products. Boss products have always been a mans plug and play machine. As for the screen, not everyone wants a touch screen or a big smartphone looking display. I like this screen for live shows. I mean your concerns are legitimate but this is so typical of BOSS and always has been LMAO. The quality is one of the reasons many people buy BOSS. I do feel like the BOSS GT100 had a better user interface than the GT1000 Great video anyway.

The GT-1000 is ONLY usable with either it’s iOS or Laptop editor. The onboard navigation is TERRIBLE. Try it with the iOS editor.

I have the helix lt and the ge200. The boss is not in the same league as the helix or the ge200 for that matter.
