I freaking love how much they managed to put into this tiny little box. I broke my mustang micro a couple months ago and I've been waiting for Boss to come out with this before buying a replacement. In the meantime I've been using the dark glass Adam as my headphone practice unit comparing apples to oranges but the amount of effects and capabilities jammed into the go makes me wonder if in the next couple years will be able to get offerings from dark glass in this form factor
Crazy that the same company that charges arm and leg for the same, decades-old basic pedals now comes up with this brilliant solution you can get for spare change
@@BassRacerx I doubt it has anything to do with the material that the enclosure is made of. Boss pedal chassis are mass produced and then drilled and painted differently. They launched a new production line for Katana Go, that could justify a higher pricetag it was not given. The crazy aspect is elsewhere
all of the sounds are kind scooped? guess it doesn't matter that it doesn't sound perfect the cool part is that it sounds at all! practice/headphone amps have been turds for a long time this is the first one that actually has my interest!
I have the Fender Mustang Micro Bluetooth headphone amp and it sounds killer with my bass using the guitar patches. I just received shipment of the Boss Katana Go today, I will plug it into my bass and use the guitar patches as I think the bass effects are a bit limited and don’t sound that interesting. I’m thinkin the guitar effects are going to sound way better on my bass than the onboard bass effects. If the guitar effects on the Katana sound half as good as the guitar effects of my Mustang Micro I’m going to be very happy. Using the designated bass effects on any pedal or effects unit typically suck.
I have also been using the mustang micro since it released and it was more than capable for practice and travel. My main pedal board is the gx100 and you nailed it as far as using guitar effects and just turning up the direct input (blend knob).
It’s fine, tbh there’s a lot of options for these things now, and Boss’s track record for supporting these apps after launch is pretty appalling so yeah, maybe just get whatever one is on sale if you really need a headphone effects thing…. Which most people probably don’t
The channel covered this topic in an earlier video. They often have bass players record a bunch of material in one sitting and then use those recordings for future gear demos. It's easier and more cost effective than having people come in for every single episode.
Hola - yep, we record our massive library of players, riffs, and basses directly into a flat input before it gets to any processing or even the original amplifier. When we have a new piece of gear to demo, many times even if we do record with that gear live in studio, we also add lots of clips from the library - sending it out from the original flat recording through the gear being demoed, and then whatever rest-of-the-chain is required to get a full audio version of said sound into the video. Chris just happens to also sync the original video recording to the new, reamped copy of the sound so that it's not just a blank screen with a waveform visual.
You have to turn the device off, press a couple of buttons as you turn it back on to swap between bass and guitar firmware. So, yes, just not super quick, but can't imagine it takes that long.
