Picked up the Boss MD-200 and DD-200 in the last month. I love the features of those modulation and delay pedals and the ability to save settings. They don't cost a small fortune, either. The RV-200 is next on my list!
As far as why the MIDI goes to 127, I believe it's because it starts at 0. I remember one of the That Pedal Show episodes where they talk about that (could even be the one where they built Pete's pedalboard a few years back).
loved the bit about the increments holding it down and it does steps of 10. starting screaming at myself and my DD 200. The cat still is missing. Great one as usual. sold!
Needs a mode that replicates the RV-2 Hall 2 and RV-1000 Cathedral reverbs. Hifi bitrates have their place but earlier low bitrate reverbs can be better too.
You guys are awesome! I come for the gear, but I get a good laugh from you guys as well. 😂 "hold, warp, twist, and shout." "Eat a carrot" 😂 " lob some critical hand grenades" Pete speaks to the guitar in the light, and says let's go!! 😂
Just got my collider from source audio..im so happy! Its soooooo good.. i alawys used cheaper pedals or multifx...hooooly thats such an upgrade..the reverb is top notch as so the delay...how comes you never showed this pedal on the show??
A soft Plate or spring reverb can work with jazzy/rock rifs. But the rest is more for ambient and post Rock rifs. More diversity is needed to showcase a pedal like this!
Great pedals! I own a OD200 and a SY200 Is on the way. The OD200 is so versatile and sounds great. My only issue with these is the angle of the buttons. Makes them hard to press if they’re not at the front of your pedalboard. Good thing they have midi, but for something like this I might want to use the hold function often which would be difficult.
But is that really true? Everything they're playing is going through their selection of microphones, their mic pre-amps, their daws, their video editor's choice of EQ, etc. Not to mention RU-vid's compression algorithms and whatever device you're using... All of these things add a certain amount of color to everything, and all of this sums to what we hear in these vids, which will sound different from what it sounds like in person, almost guaranteed. No?
Really enjoy you guys when you loosen up a bit like in the beginning of this video. Also reminded me of a tune I played with an old buddy who wrote, in a blues format, a song entitled "My Baby Ran Off With A Carrot"! lol
Have you looked at the Mooer Ocean Machine? As far as bang for buck you can't beat it. Dual delay and reverb with presets and midi. Fantastic for ambient stuff too because you can change type of effect and effects order in real-time to get really creative and 'musical'. Only drawback imo is the lack of a pre-delay control which is how I wound up here looking at reverb pedals but I think I'll end up keeping it.
I think this one is the perfect halfway point between the simplicity of something like the rv-6 and the over-complexity of the rv-500, which is exactly what it should be
Accidentally engaging a boost by accident does happen! Lent a guitarist my pedalboard for a gig (Can't remember they didn't have their pedals, but whatever) and I had a Boss OD3 that I'd set as a boost, so basically max volume and I was using an old JMP as a platform, already set too loud to start with. Partway through the first song they hit the OD3 instead of the pedal they wanted to use and the jump in volume was huge! It scared the poor guitarist and they didn't touch a thing for the rest of the set and was a bit embarrassed to ask. There was around 20 pedals on there and they were only used to using one, so should have thought it through. Sounded incredible FOH though! Even the house engineer didn't ask for it to be turned down.
That's "LED" display Captain. I can see the thinking behind using them, virtually indestructible (don't tread on an LCD) and easier to read in poor light.
Is it me? Or does anybody else get frustrated with ADHLee constantly fiddling with the knobs and settings? Like I understand that he is trying to learn how the thing works, but couldn’t he do that on his own time, off screen? It just seems like Pete is finally starting to get into a good sound/tone/groove whichever and then, good old “Captain Fidget” comes along and starts messing with everything and screwing it up. Problem is, it’s not the first time either. It’s every time. Like I’m trying to look at the pedal and take note of the settings but there’s always a hand in the way of the bloody pedals. 😂😂😂
I think at the price point we can’t really say it’s for those that can’t get a big sky, if it was a landlord effects reverb at £35 yes I get that but we are talking far less margin in price and the big sky after all these years still is right up there. If you’re looking at spending £260 on a reverb alone then I don’t think the extra cost would make that much difference or the rv500 less than £100 more l(couple of takeouts), if they made something that was like £150 I would see the advantage but if you’re spending this much you would just wait and save for what I really wanted but that’s just my opinion so no hate
Looks decent but Let’s be honest the pricing is all wrong, for £30 cheaper you could get the MXR reverb with a decent spring reverb and the Earth shattering Pad mode.
Hmm, I have never been too fond of Boss Reverb pedals, and this one doesn't change my opinion either. There is always a digital harshness and coldness to their algorithms that just sounds artificial to me. In all of the modes. 🤷♂ Great video and presentation though. Pete's playing is always a stunner.
There’s some great sounds on the RV (I had the 500), but in the end I sold it and replaced it with the Empress which in still incredible despite it’s age
They should make a proper rv-7 with really good reverbs as these...boss are the best, but still lacks a really good reverb and really good go-to drive with medium/high gain. Then they will score at all aspects, in my opinion of course.
Hi, great video as always. I bet you could give Pete a frying pan and connect it to the amp with a clothes line and it would still sound great. Could you showcase the Yamaha YH-WL500? Somehow you can buy them everywhere, but there is no test on youtube available. Greetings from germany
Great product for the price. Spring reverberation sound is interesting but not realistic. Lacks the attack sound of the spring being struck. EHX is better in terms of spring reverb.
guess i'll have to watch the video...what does it do that RV-500 doesn't? is it intended for smaller foot prints or folks that don't already have 500 series?
So could you tell me for my using a Rav Drum with a small effects pedal, will I get more out of the RV200 or a bluesky I do like idea saving presets if sounds are close
but I guess one program select signal switches back to manual, which leaves 127 slots. edit: just looked it up in the manual: program number 1, (signal 0x00) switches to manual, so my guess was right.
I just got this and couldn't be more disappointed. I thought it came with a ton of factory "pre-sets". You know...numbered presets that I could scroll through and try out. 5 manual ones that I set up... huh? For me this pedal is no better than the Boss RV-6. And the display...you got to be kidding. The most un-intuitive display ever. 😢😒. The Zoom multistomp 70cdr blows it away.
BOYS!?! Nothing like a little innuendo... and Pete is nothing like a little innuendo... Back in the day you couldn't really do the reverse reverb poltergeist thing live. You had to turn the tape in the recorder over and record reverb onto a separate track. Great effect but quite a pain to do.
but what is it with BOSS and usb mini B in 2023!!! Maybe if they were COSS.... they would put the usb-C ???!! Someone please explain what am I missing !!!
I like a subtle reverb, so this may be overkill for me, lol. Why can't Boss make a multi-fx unit this size? Would be great for smaller pedalboards and looper peoples.
