Hope you're all having a glorious day! I only had about an hour before launch to make this video so I skipped and skimmed some really fun stuff - let me know what you'd like to hear in a future deep dive!
Boss just keep putting out awesome new products and I’m glad they’ve launched these new recreations of the legendary SDE-3000 especially this EVH model SDE. Absolutely love this video demo you’ve done as this really makes this pedal stand out and sound freakin’ awesome. 🎸🎸🤘🤘 Can’t wait to get my hands on one.👍 Keep on rocking! 🎸🤘
Anything with EVH stripes or the Rush starman and I’m helpless. 💸💸💸 I amazingly got to go on a golf trip with Alex Lifeson and told him as much, to which he laughed and thanked me. So now every time they put out something new with the starman on it I text him and say “got me again dammit!” Recently it’s been beer and mustard! 🤣
@@LeonTodd would you say this pedal is a direct 1:1 swap out for an Eventide Micropitch if you're going for Balance-era tone? Your clip at 12:44 definitely sounds that way, I would LOVE to hear a back-to-back comparison between the two pedals.
Leon, I gotta tell ya, putting all the cool gear talk aside, I've really enjoyed watching the progression of your guitar playing over these years. Thanks again for being here, alive, right now to share yourself with all of us.
Man I’m freaking out been waiting for this to happen for years it’s 5am got off work 3 hours ago and I find LT and Pete Thorn doing demos on this holy shit man! This is mine to go with my Eventide micropitch hells bells🤟🏻
dude, your reviews and insight are alone worth the time spent, but as good as that is, I'm thoroughly enjoying just listening to your playing. Makes a keyboard player want to learn guitar.
BOSS is killing it since the 80's. I'm Boss user after all my guitar journey (not actually a career), since the beggining, back in 1987 (what a date). EQ, Chorus, delay, different pedalboards. Always great sounding gear, and, IMPORTANT, very easy to use.
This is exciting! Love it when Boss gets classic gear right!! Just got a sde 330 bc its the only rack in the family with full stereo i/o. So tempted to get this one anyway!!
Love your videos - the gear info is great, but mainly watch to get inspired by your playing! Paul Gilbert would be proud of those 'guitar faces' as well. Nice work bro!
Great Video Leon! Your demo and Playing is perfect for this pedal! And I saw Eddie play his first gig in the early 70's with the VH Band at their first Audition for Record Labels. cheers from Canberra😀
Yes Eddie played his original guitar through an old beat up Marshall. Flat out of course with no effects. The band was very tight as they played covers regularly at a club on Sunset Boulevard.
That intro was marvelously STUPENDOUS! The composition, timing and very tasteful restrained tapping were just musical perfection. Plus it was truly original in style even while being bluesy still. I had to listen to it a few times over at least to let it all sink in. At the same time you also managed to make the effect's strengths shine the whole time. Subscribed for sure!
What a cool kit as my brit and aussie friends might say.. 😛 Boss / Roland seems to always come up with cool stuff to me.. Very cool and your playing is always very cool too sir! Love it.. Hope you're having a great week sir.. I"m off to get stiches taken out for my Knee surgery I had last week.. Doing well, but have to get right knee replaced maybe. I ran on it too much when I was young and arthritis sucks! 🙂 Be safe and well sir! Have a great week and better weekend brother! 💯❤🤟🤟
Peavey Wolfgang ❤ i have a very similar model with the stop tail tunomatic bridge! But in gotta get myself a Floyd version one day 😎 I appreciate your work here on YT Leon!
Great sounds Leon, thanks. I'm interested to hear what Cordy could do with it. Which reminds me, if someone could reissue that Yamaha thing that Holdsworth used, that would be cool...
Leon, when I hear you like that after Eddy's dead, I think Eddy would have liked to play with you because you're such a big heart too...thanks for this video ...... Mike
I’m hearing a lot of mindcrime era queensryche sounds too No clue if they used one of these, just saying it sounds like you could na their sound with it. 🤘🏻🎸
Yeah I'm pretty surprised at the control they've given to the user here. Most importantly they got the sound character right and it feels very similar to dialing in on the rack.
I recently discovered your channel, killer demos, killer playing... had a listen to Ragdoll too - killer! Keep up the great work :) And yeah, how cool is this pedal :D
Always nice job here! It would be nice to see a comparison of Boss sd3000/DD500/RE202/DM101 and/or maybe more interesting do that from different brands Sd3000 TC2290P H90 DD500 Time factor Timeline Ocean Machine And, what i am really trying to figure out now, a comparison between delay/reverb/mod units in three switch format. Eentide H90 vs Mooer Ocean Machine and everything in between (Plethora x3,DD500, M9, SDE300, 2290P, Zoom MS70, G2four... ) Trying to stay out of do-it-all machines (HX stomp, GT1000core, and so on)
Man this boss pedal sounds incredible. Nice playing too. I reckon the Brian May sound would be easy with this 800ms on left and 1600 on the right . Instant Brighton rock.
hi leon, I watched your video very carefully, I'm very impressed by the boss sde 3000, but I also really like the eventide timeforce, which one of the two do you recommend?
Hey, Thanks! Excellent Demo-Review. I Want to Hear You Play that DOUBLENECK on the Behind Your Left Shoulder/Guitar Neck, Sometime Soon!! Please do a More DEEP DIVE into The Possibilities of this Pedal. All The Best!!!
Super cool, but I'm trying to understand the dry output for W/D/W and how I could or if I could use it. If I were to put this in a stereo effects loop with a chorus before it, what is coming out of the dry output? I would think whatever you place before it would still affect the dry output signal, right? I mean it's nice that Boss included the option, but typically I how I would set this up is just to hook it up in my stereo effects chain between the preamp and power amp, and run a separate dry signal from my line mixer to a separate power amp. I'd be curious to see how you would hook this up.
Yow! This calls for a shootout! Eventide H90 Vintage Delays vs Stymon DIG vs BOSS SDE-3000. KORG has revisited the SDD-3000 as well, so all that is left is for Behringer/tc electronic to finally attempt the 2290 in a pedal.
@@BigMateo24 Unfortunately the Free The Tone Flight Time sounds nothing like my tc 2290 digital delay. Black Country Customs "The Difference" is much closer but still not there. Modern recreations... hmm... none of em sound very good compared to originals. Strymon does it best, taking inspiration from the old gear and making something new with a completely unique sound of its own.
Now if they had added Distortion to give us the full package in one pedal.... Your videos (as always) fun and informative... great job explaining. Your playing at the beginning was terrific.
This pedal is awesome, terrific, and will buy one of them! But it doesn’t sound nothing like an SDE-3000. Missing a lot a grit and girth. Not the one for negative comments so I apologize. These units are going to be very hard to recreate in pedal units. Just like the Eventide Micropitch… does the thing and sounds amazing! But nowhere near the mojo of the H3000. But for what it does, and for anyone who never had the chance to experiment with an SD-3000, this is amazing! That being said, I’ll take convenience over sound anytime and one of my favourite delays ever is Pro Tools stock ModDelay
Pete Thorn said he and the team a/b-ed this thing with Ed’s actual rack units in his live rig at his studio and got it to where none of them can hear a difference, fwiw. Maybe it’s lost in the video recording or some such, but they’re confident it’s an exact match.
Smoking Riff's my man!! GEEZ I am all in with this pedal WOW WOW WOW ... The guy who created the original SDE is or was the president of boss which I did not know. He was all in in the development with a killer team to make this pedal epic!! Pete Thorn was involved as well. So excited I am saving up as we speak! This is in the top 5 of all "must have pedals of all time" (to me away). Can't wait!
