This is the best pedal I’ve seen in years. I spent years using a Space Echo purely for the pre amp tone. Finally an easy way to get it back. Brilliant stuff from Boss. Such a clever company.
I love Boss. They sound great (with all respect to the boutiques) ,but functionally they’re superb. When your adrenaline is peaking and it’s time to hit that drive pedal for your lead, there’s nothing like putting your boot to Boss pedal.
And there it is folks! The first honest to gosh demo of the TRS 20. It’s been a long time coming and we just heard it! Thanky thanky thanky SGT PAUL! All said with a high pitched voice (which I can’t do) but if you want a low C? I can handle that.
Beautiful guitar, man. You have a really good ear for juicy tone. More so than 99% of the other gear interviewers on RU-vid. You have the skill to dial in useful sounds and really show the range of gear.
@@TheStudioRats Hey there's a thread in one of these comments where a guy is kinda going crazy and trolling anyone who disagrees with him. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up!
Paul can make any guitar with or without effect sounds like heaven !!! Really like this channel !!! When he dives into a new pedal he gives us the maximum of the possibilities with its amazing reviews. After seeing your review of the Jet JS-400 i bought one ( lefty) and i still don't believe how they can make such an instrument at this price .Bonus as a french canadian person my english ( british) becomes better !!! Keep your great work !!
I like the GE7 as a boost too, but found it a little bit noisier than using, say, an MXR Microamp, and it didn’t really have much scope to add gain, without tap dancing another overdrive pedal at the same time.
I’ve had a mod’d GE7 since early 2000’s. Mine is from the 90’s and has a “Sniper” mod, dead quiet and the sliders feel better (smoother, more robust)than the new ge7s
Boss did something pretty special with this pedal. I have owned the devices the preamps are from and they really do modify the guitar tone in interesting ways. I think it is most useful as boosted tone EQ versus a full on distortion device
I just bought this pedal, gigged with it twice, love it but still not sure the best way to use it in my rig. Last gig my chain was: Fender Telecaster - Peterson Strobe Tuner - Wampler Ego Mini Compressor - Xotic Effects RC Booster V2 - BOSS WAZA CRAFT BP1W - into Mesa Boogie California Tweed. (Strymon Brigadier Delay in effects loop). Sounds great but I also have a Wampler Tumnus, a Strymon Riverside, and wonder if Im missing out on a good tone not using these pedals. Im also wondering if Im using these pedals in the correct order. My band plays everything from classic rock to 80s, to 90s alternative but nothing too heavy. Any advice or perspective is appreciated! I know a lot of this is subjective. Just a note on BOSS functionality: the BP1W has the smoothest pedal engagement ever, easy touch to engage and very responsive with just a tap of the toe. This pedal "feels" good to operate compared to most others - just an observation!
I was a boutique pedal junkie. Changed my mind and going the Boss pedal route. These pedals dont have the same sound quality as the boutique pedals out there, but they always sound great in a mix. Something these Boss pedals can do. Making music with others is what counts!
Ehhhh, wouldn't say that Boss pedals don't have the same quality as a boutique pedal. Have you seen the new one trick delay pedals? There's a reason why those go for $499-$599 😅
I've noticed that they often sound better in the mix compared to boutique pedals as well... Maybe due to the fact that they have a super clear sound where boutique pedals can be softer. Boutique pedals sound better on their own though (to me at least).
@@chesneytube1 They have multiple one trick delay pedals but something tells me that id I were to name them, you might try to give me some reasons they're not. Let's face it though, Boss is known for being the king maker of one trick delay pedals within the industry.
Boss pedals always sounded good in the mix (even without mods back in their hayday) because they knew how to make decent. Fast forward to 2023 and they have the experience and know how to make excellent buffers where boutique makers usually have an extremely hard time doing so. It's not an easy task, same with an fx loop for a boutique tube amp. Boss has also had a great ear for EQ since the late 80's
So, this is like an EchoPlex preamp pedal, right? It uses the preamp of the big tape echo delay unit that modified the guitar signal's tone. Also can be used as a booster but if you put this in the FX loop, harsh sounding amps become way more pleasant and add its a tonal warmth etc. Works great into plexi's / Marshalls. A part of Eddie van Halen's signal chain. I am intrigued!
Another great video. I am convinced you make everything sound good. How about running this pedal as a boost in front of a modeller like the GT-1000 CORE using the vintage buffer? I do wonder if that would add some more analog-ness to guitar tones.
This is my next pedal purchase, it's awesome! And awesome demo! BUT....more importantly, what strat is that????model, year, pickups?? I watched this over to hear that strat!! The natural mode on the pedal with your clean tone is a dream tone!!!
Pedal aside, you have an amazing sound going on with both the Tele in beginning and the Strat. How do they sound so full and amazing? I know its always a combination of everything, but I would like to know more about the whole chain because I can't get enough of that sound.
Think of it more like a volume boost going in the front of your amp, an overdrive/ distortion add clipping to the signal which distorts the sound more. But yes you can use an overdrive as a boost some are more coloured than others.
Does jammin Boss BP-1W make anyone else really happy? Boss BP-1W is quickly becoming my favorite pedal. It's just so beautiful and sexy. Practically free and the second you drop her on the board that chill ass mofo gives you a Rich Dark Gushing Robust tone.. And you also get this cute little 1/1 feedback response usually too harmless to be forgotten. But more than that, the Boss BP-1 is just so positively alluring. It comes on the board like "do you want to cast a spell?" and I'm like "yeah BP-1W i do want to cast a spell let's do this shit" and when she attacks she's like "SPELLS ARE FUN" and I'm like "yeah they are SO FUN." She doesn't say some bullshit macho shit like "I will destroy you" she's just like "nah spells are fun and voodoo spooky.” And she looks so happy. I mean this is an inanimate object that literally brought my guitar to life by magic. It understands it's life is a temporary magical gift and the dude is just fucking loving it. I mean just look at her face she’s just so happy and cute as a button. I am literally never sad when Boss BP-1W is on board. IDK if she's gonna ever make it into the pedal HOF or not, but for now she a super chill pedal.
I wouldn’t recommend a boost with a digital unit. You’re not going to get the full range of boost. You can do it but just beware of clipping the input.
Nice demo Paul. I am wondering if the RE preamp is the same as the one in the RE202 which I intend picking up next week. I really like the idea of this pedal as well because I can add a little more hair to my tone. Any idea if they might conflict with each other?
@@krispatel1 just the volume and mids bump of turning it on. Use it in stock mode, turn rate to just barely cracked on, turn depth to just about 9 o’clock. It sounds incredible into anything, but it will give Marshalls and tweeds a kind of Fendery “depth”. It’s very cool. In my youth, Robbie Blunt gave an interview where he talked about the way he got the sound for the first two Robert Plant records. That was his trick.
In a pedal chain do you recommend to use it as a drive pedal position after the compressor or as a booster that is usually used at the begging of the chain? Thanks
What does this pedal do that the PastFX Chorus Ensemble doesn't do? Because there's a lot the PastFX does that this doesn't do. And the CE-1w + BP-1w is way more money than the PastFX.
Would this be good in the effects loop of my marshall silver jubilee? Looking for a way to boost my guitar signal for solos as running stuff in the front of the amps seems to just distort it more. 😅
j ai eu une warm audio centavo que j utilisais comme clean boost , ma question est la suivante , ne faudrait il pas plutot que j achetes cette pedale , plutot qu un clone de klon ? merci a ceux et celles qui prendront le temp de me repondre .
