Cross-over gait is usually a result of either weak glutes or your glutes not firing. So the fact that your having some glute sourness when you focus on the seperation is actually a great sign that you are starting to utilize the right muscle groups! Thanks for the videos.

Yes. I was thinking that also. The workouts that Netic Health put together for me, were designed to strengthen all of my weaker areas. Thanks for taking the time to keep the conversation going. Have a great day. Stay safe.

Looks like you had a great week Tim. You are right on about taking rest days. Our recovery is slower now and we need those additional days to recover and rebuild damaged tissue. I am currently injured again (last time left hip, this time right one). When I recover from this, I will be extra diligent on working on hip strengthening/mobility and concentrating more on my rest and recovery after hard workouts.

Hey Tolunay. I’m sorry to hear you are injured. That’s so frustrating. I hope you recover soon. Stay safe my friend! Have a great day.

This was a much needed serotonin boost. I've been a bit down since last week I didn't run for several days because I was sick. And my running motivation has decreased slightly because the running plan I'm currently on has become pretty repetitive. I decided to skip all the workouts this week and just do simple 30-50min runs. As much as speed workouts can be very effective, this particular plan has me doing it more than half of my runs, leaving me running on the track (not an inspiring view). Thankfully, I'm almost done with it and I'm really excited for my next training block where I hope to try some trails! Great job making it through hell week :)

Hi Emma. I’m sorry to hear that you were under the weather. I’m glad you’re feeling better now. I totally understand about doing track work. It’s a lot of left turns. My favorite is trail running. Good luck as you finish up this training Black. I’m looking forward to hearing how your next one goes. Have a great day. Stay safe.

Running frequency is something I’m struggling with these days. Not because of injuries necessarily but just scheduling. I’m fairly well recovered from my surgery last fall. My head is saying run! But at 49 I’m thinking about frequency for the future. Heck! Even Tom Brady retired again. I don’t know 🤷‍♂️ but on another note… can’t wait to see you after you finish the marathon! I’ll be there after the finish line. Looking forward to seeing so many YT folks getting it done!

I can totally relate. I’d like to pick up the frequency, but I’m concerned about the possibility of injury again. I’ve been taking the approach of slow and steady completes the race. That’s awesome that you’re going to be in Boston. I hope we get a chance to catch up with one another while we are there. We can share a few hunting stories as well. Have a great day. Stay safe.

@@RunTall slow and steady gets it done! It’s awesome just to get out there. It feels great and centers the mind for the day! Absolutely hope to see you in Boston. I’ll be a couple blocks past the finish on Boylston if things are similar to the last time I was there. So excited to be going back! It’s a huge privilege and a life changing day.

Such a hell of a training!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🏃‍♂️🎽👟 You are super fast!!! Yes, I believe in the power of rest days during your hard training program, Tim. Thank you for sharing your awesome journey prepping for Boston race. As for me, I am gradually increasing mileage, but still on the mend and all ears to how my surgical foot feels. Let us all stay safe and happy. And when it comes to Asics Gel Nimbus 25, I had exactly the same expectations as yours about the cushioning, which wasn't there. 😑😏 Well, but it's good enough for a relaxing ride though. Haha...

Thanks Jean. I really appreciate it. I hope you have a full recovery from your injury very soon. Having surgery is a big deal. It takes time. It can be very frustrating. Hang in there. Have a great day. Stay safe.

Younger runners don't understand why we can't run everyday. As a young runner, it was unheard of for me to not run everyday. I run 4 days a week and that has been working. It's not worth it to me to run everyday and then get injured
@RunTall

Hi Brenda. Ideally for me running four or five days a week works out well. I just seem to need that extra two days of non-running to ward off potential overuse injuries. And I hope things are going well for you. Have a great day. Stay safe.

I’m just started week nr1 on the same program but I do the heart rate based one instead and it working just great. Funny to see that your Garmin connect have a mix of the metic and your miles system.

Hey Tim👍🏾☺️! I'm on the same plan as you, same week for Manchester marathon April 16. Our interval times and speeds are almost uncannily identical😉 I try and get hills in it recommends. However my easy runs are quite a bit slower than yours, so my weekly mileage ends up around 37-40. I do this deliberately to rest, as you say I'm a 52 year old runner and my body (lower back, hips, knees 😁) need the recovery. Yoga sessions once or twice a week and a few short 15 minute strength and balance sessions courtesy of Vlad Ixel channel, check him out👌🏾 I'm still running with PF though which is a pain, comes on after about an hour even though it's gradually improving. My long run shoe is the invincible 2, tempo days speed 2. Race will be Vaporfly 2. How about you mate? Enjoying the journey, looking forward to the new 'cooking with Tim' channel😆... Get the spices and heat going Tim😋

That’s awesome! It’s great to go on this journey together. Good luck with your training for Manchester marathon. I hope your PF stays at bay. I’ve had to deal with that issue myself from time to time and that’s very frustrating. The shoes that I have training are weather dependent here. We had a bit of a warm-up so I was able to get into some faster, carbon, plated shoes. But overnight we got blanketed with some ice and snow. I’ll be back in the Hoka Speedgoat 5 (most likely) for my recovery, run today. on my long runs, I try to use the shoe that I plan to run the marathon in. At this point, I’m leaning towards the AlphaFly next percent version one. Have a great day. Stay safe.

Hi Tim! What exercises do you do to correct the cross-over gait? I have the exact same problem and my IT band started to flare up.

I’ve cut and pasted some of the conversation with my PT regarding the drills I’ve been using that she recommended. “ And A skips/B skips can be good drills for this, in addition to the line drill (running at the track or on a treadmill with a line down the center and not letting your feet touch the line)...at the track you would run in between lanes so that the line of the track is in between your feet. “ I hope this helps. Thanks for the question. Good luck with your training. Have a great day. Stay safe.
