I thank God I grew up in the time of great ballads like this one. Just what this world needs these days...more real love and the ability to express it. Too bad truly good ballads left us in the 80s, but at least RU-vid allows us to travel back in time to the good ole days if not for just a short while. Great song. Godspeed everyone.
I remember the excitement when this album was released in '86, SO many years since Boston had done an album......now it seems like ages since Boston was on the radio.....great band. RIP Brad.
Who imagined back when this song came out that things would get so fucked up in the world so that 30 years later a song like this would seem like it was from a completely different civilization. People used to complain about how messed up the world was back then. They had no clue, and something tells me it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. That said, this song is just an amazing piece of musical art. It reaches into the achy spot in your soul and touches on some abstract fundamental truths of love and intimacy, while still having a lighthearted playful edge. I love it more now than I ever have and if anything my appreciation for it has grown. God bless the soulful, loving, passionate, and peaceful people of the world. Enjoy the music!
Well its always been bad, if not its been worse...actually way worse in the world from Kings like Vlad the Impaler and Conquerers like Attila or Dictators like Adolf Hitler, or scandals like water gate or the vietnam war, remember the most intense time in human history was taking place during the creation of this song...(cold war..not intense but...tense...i know im being nit picky and 6 months late but meh).
My twin sister is named Amanda. We were 9 when this came out. It was playing at the dentist's office the other day. Such a sweet song...just like my sister...when she wants to be.😉❤
Amanda Vela ha ha, no worries, I had a hunch something was up but wanted to say something positive anyway. :) As for me giving up? Been in some terrible relationships in the past and I have some issues I'm dealing with so that's why I have done so.
My lovely boss and good friend just unexpectedly loss her husband. I sing her this song once a week to let her know she's still loved by her friend and family. Her name is Amanda and I love her so much. As friends btw
every time I hear this song it takes me back to when I was ten years old and my first real girlfriend was a girl named Amanda.. I wish we wouldn't of moved away .That was the last time I seen her after we moved away .. I know she's out there somewhere... I wonder if she thinks of me after all these years.. I'm 43 now..She's around 41.
when it comes to this song it's not about the Name its about how this person is her attributes. .standing by man thro it all ..knowing he has a good thing in his. LIFE & knowing if he looses her he'll never find the Love he had ...again...
This song is bittersweet to me. Name means worthy of love, and there’s an amazing sweet ballad like this… I grew up with expectations and dreams. Now at 47, chronically ill, jaded and broken from trusting and loving too easily… I don’t think I would believe a dude if he dedicated this to me. So yeah. Still love the song but it hurts to listen to it.
A beautiful song, great harmonics with the vocals. A quality song. Love is a topic of song that can easily be overused nowadays, we have worn it out so much, it is just a topic now. Boston (when writing songs about love) doesn't overuse it, which is one of the reasons they mean it when they sing about love, not just as a topic to sing about, like so many other groups and musicians. LONG LIVE BOSTON!
+manualLaborer He wrote much of the music and lyrics, but Brad Delp added the voice to all of it. He killed himself in 2007. :-( The nicest man in rock and roll.
i'm lost my girl friend of my lifetime a long time ago,and her name was amanda.and still now in 2021,when i hear this song, i'm feel very sad , to loose her. your'e always in my heart till now! amanda.😢
I've had a few "Amanda moments" in my life... When I felt that I had to approach the person I loved and find out if he loved me too. I'm happy to report that my last "Amanda moment" was received well... and he's now living with me as my significant other.
This song is so ironic with this girl I'm in love with. Her name happens to be Amanda. The words fit perfectly with our situation. If she would just drop that shield, I know we would enjoy a wonderful life together, cause I know she feels the same way about me.
2019 still a great love song dedicated to Amandas and no Amandas, just to the woman you love. I am go to said it like a man and make you understand Amanda. I love you...
My dad made me listen to this lolz. It immediately grew on me... except for hearing my name in the song. My younger brother grinning back at me every time he heard my name sung didn't help much either. XD I love good oldies.

Hi Gigi, I was looking for a song for my daughter as her name is Amanda. I was just curious if there was one. I was hoping I could make it special for her and you just made it special for me with your story. Many blessings to you and your family.
