Don’t Look Back is second album. Each album has “UFO’s.” If you look at the cover, you’ll see the Earth exploding in the background, and the UFO’s are upside down guitar-ships carrying the cities away and to a new destination. 😊❤️
I was in Jr high in 1975 when this came out. Every song on this album is great. Im now 58 years old and I still listen to this masterpiece. I have NEVER grown tired if it. That’s when you know its great music! Love your reactions 💕✌️😎
Boston is mainly a studio band. There are so many layers to their music that most of us can't count them. However because of the multiple layers it is very difficult to reproduce for a live concert. Keep in mind there was no computer stuff in music during these years, its all analog. There is another album but this is their best work in my opinion. Gotta Love the Spaceship !!
When any song on Boston's debut album starts playing on the car radio, normally responsible drivers who usually drive near the speed limit look at their speedometers halfway through the Boston song and realize they're doing 97mph due to the awesomeness! "Foreplay/Longtime" has probably taught more people to become expert air-guitarists than any other song in rock and roll history! Another amazing song on the album is "Something About You". BTW, there is another band from Boston with an amazing debut album too: The Cars.
Boston is absolutely fire... but also they are always uplifting, both in their lyrics and the musicality. You listen to them, and you're just feeling better!
Great song, great playing, great singer, and GREAT lyrics. Boston made the perfect album that will outlast all of us. They’ll still be playing Boston in the year 2500.
My vote is just go through the album in order! Totally worth it, especially with you guys learning guitar. The blend of acoustic and electric guitars is perfect, and you can learn how to create a 3-part harmonizing lead. That was definitely two layered guitars dueling during the solo and there were three guitars harmonizing during the outro. Can’t wait for more Boston. Cheers!
this is how you can tell that someone wrote timeless,classic music. People still enjoying it 50 years after the fact and into the future Boston will be appreciated. Tom wrote some the most timeless great music and Brad sang some the most indelible lyrics ever.
Fun watching you guys discovering the music that sustained me back when I had hair 😏. When you get around to it, I'd like to recommend my #1 band from 1970-onwards: Emerson, Lake & Palmer. They are best tasted sequentially through their albums as you can see the evolution of the music.
Hey guys... It is fun to watch you react to the music of my youth. I do not acknowledge my age but I am racking up needed points and trinkets to make it to LEVEL 63. We enjoy your insights, interactions, and that Kid's "stink-face".. but most of all we enjoy watching your relationship as father and son doing something fun and educational together.. There are too many rabbit holes to go down in regards to which songs/bands to react to; so in that I have no opinion except to say carry-on carrying on...

I'm a die hard Rush fan... been so since early 70's... But I'll agree with everyone else on this one.. it's the best debut album of all time... start from the beginning and review every song, you won't be disappointed. They were fantastic live as well, sounded just like the albums. Next... just start from the beginning... (as I already said). LOL

Notice the genius of Tom Scholz. The opening riff is played on acoustic guitar, but before the fade out after the "Look Ahead" he plays the same riff on electric guitar...so powerful! Next play "Something About You".
Van Halen "Self Titled" and AC/DC "Back in Black," (this is the first album with Brian Johnson). Van Halen, Self Titled...75 million albums worldwide, AC/DC 50 million, Boston 20 million. All killer albums! Moving PIctures, 27 million as a comparison...Rush freak here too! This song grew in my fav. category. The guitar work is fantastic. you guys ARE 🔥🔥

Great job guy’s I think Tom S.went to MIT so he probably could’ve made a friggin space shuttle in his basement instead of music in his basement if he wanted to but seriously this album obviously for the great tracks first and foremost but even just the sound from a production standpoint was so far ahead of it’s time that music critics felt like it needed a whole new category of it’s own that’s where the term “Arena rock” came from..which at the time I don’t think anybody really gave AF about but it kinda makes sense because I remember the first time I ever heard it and there was two thing’s that immediately stuck out first was it sounded like it was from the future or something and the second thing was that it also kinda sounded like it was a live album..combine all that with that iconic album cover and that’s probably why we’re all still listening today..keep up the good work👍🏼
When this came out I would get home after work and bury myself with head phones on and listen to this track after track and just let my imagination take me places.
Over 17 million copies sold in less that 3 months. Some of the dueling guitars was actually only one guitar. FYI: A lot of people still don't realize that the spaceship on the album cover is an upside down guitar. 😎
You should try *The Warning* - 3 sisters whose hard rock has roots in the 1970s but with elements of grunge and punk and newer genres. Try 'Evolve', 'Disciple', and 'Animosity' for some stuff from their 3rd album.
If you have not yet done it, Foreplay/Longtime. Best song on the album. Thanks guys. I have some of Tom's "Rockman" guitar gear, as much as I like the guy, his gear was garbage. Made to satisfy a price point.
@@richb313 The items I OWNED were crap. The faders were all cheap nylon, with no knobs, and broke after just a few uses , siting on top of an amp. The op amps were noisy as hell, and I know this as I ran them through my oscilloscope. I have gear from the 50's that works, and all my Rockman stuff is gone, and never made it to the stage. They were simply not built with quality parts.
Boston put out a few really good albums after their first. Of course, there was considerable time in between albums because of problems they had with their management and because of a Lawsuit Tom Scholz filed against CBS Records. The second album came out in 1978, "Don't Look Back" and then their third album didn't come out until 1986!! Overall, the albums are good but they continue the sound of the 1st album, which cost Boston critical praise. They seemed to be stuck in a creative rut, even though their hardcore fans were happy. I think the best albums are the first 2 albums, when they were hot!
They had three EXCELLENT albums, and a fourth that was weak, IMHO. Their first album was the best, but you will definitely want to check out Don’t Look Back and Third Stage.
To me Hitch a Ride was one of the unsung songs on this album. The last part of that songs harmonizing guitar solo will leave you shaking your heads. And BTW. Tom received his MBA from MIT. Yep
IDK how or why Scholz is never talked about as one of the most influential guitarists of all time along the likes of Page, Clapton and Beck. He sure influenced me to the T. I didn't mention Ed or Jimi because they're just on another level from ev1 else. lol
Brad Delp and Barry Goudreau (one of the original Boston guitarists) put of a song called "Rockin' Away" which is a rocker that sounds like a Boston song. Boston never made anything as good as good as this album. Some great songs but same sound. Never evolved and had many internal band issues, law suits and all
