5 months with a 320 Vantage Boston Whaler, here’s what you NEED, must know, and nice to haves:
NEED:
-SeaDeck flooring (must have)
-Reverse sunshade
-Seat Covers
-Air conditioning in cabin running off DC power
Must Know:
- Twin 300’s V8 are the way to go on this boat
- Twin 350’s, best cruise 30-35 mph (1.05-1.17) best MPG
- Refrigerator isn’t necessary (any feedback on this?)
Nice to have’s:
- front sunshade (used it 1 time) don’t order it IMO
-Full cover for boat (probably would buy it and probably need it at some point)
-20 x 10 cover at West Marine $57 totally does the job for the windshield back to the transom
-Gel coat works just fine, painted hull is gorgeous also!

If buying a 320 (new or used) from MarineMax, pleases have your dealership call MM Clearwater for insight on the DC powered Air Conditioning system. This was installed by MM Clearwater service team.

Hey Grant - great video - have a 320 on order - would love additional content on helm and storage compartments, etc

Hi Ken, congrats on your 320 order, you will love the boat. I will work on getting that video done shortly.

Great information Grant. Can you share any comments on the ride? I understand that because of the foaming the ride feels solid compared to other boats.

Hi Terry, ride is great, boat weighs between 13k-14k with fuel, solid ride. No hull slapping or anything to that nature. The weight makes it feel heavy and solid in the water, yet light and nimble, sporty reactions to sharp turns. Very happy as an owner with the ride even with 8-10 people loaded up on the port side of the boat due to the seating layout

Grant - Thank you for sharing your experience on the 320 Vantage. First of all, you should feel good about yourself that you got a great price on yours. The demand this boat (and other quality ones) is certainly strong - and most people with low hours (less than 200) are getting mid to high $300K's now and they are sold in a matter of days. That being the case of price compression between used and new, we ordered a new one from MarineMax this weekend at the Miami Boat Show. Delivery date: approx November 2022. We are trying to determine if we want/need AC. The generator on a new Vantage 320 is quite pricey ($20K). You mentioned that you don't have a generator, but have AC. Does the mean your boat is equipped with an Inverter? When you run the AC, how long can you run it? Do you run it just while underway? Or do you run it while "at the sand bar"? Have you ever anchored overnight and run the AC without shore power? Does it last overnight, and does it drain the house battery to zero? Have you ever had any issues with your starting battery with the way your system is set up?

Great questions Troy, apologies for the delay. AC will run on DC power, have not used overnight. We use the AC running and at the sand bar, have only needed to start engines once after 3-4 hours of use without engines running. Have not tested that further to see if the charge could go longer. AC runs off house batteries Engine batteries only for engines (no issues yet) Only reason you need the generator in my opinion is for the Grill option.

Where did you get the seat covers from

Thanks Grant. We are thinking about the 320 Vantage as our next boat. We really like the boat but one concern is the amount of storage space on the boat. We like to raft up at the sandbars and tend to bring rafts and beach chairs. Have you had issues with storage

Hi @Joe Dougher this is a great question. We have a 6 x 16 ft floating mat that rides in the stern at the rear bench seat (folded up). Beach chairs sit in the cabin and if we didn’t have the AC system, In the cabin is a 6ft wide by 10 ft deep and 2 ft high empty space that can store tons of things. Never once looked at my wife and said we need more space! Hope this helps

Hey Grant, thanks for the video. Just ordered a 320 Vantage and appreciate your insight. How do you like the 4 inch vessel view? Do you wish you had the 7 inch, and do you usually display the engine data on your 16 inch Raymarine? I did the twin 12 inch Raymarines that only comes with the 4 inch vessel view, I figured one 12 inch would be dedicated for the engine data and the other 12 inch as a fishfinder. Just curious of your thoughts, and just if you really enjoy the boat overall in general. Also, are those the seat covers that came from Boston Whaler, or are they custom? Thank you!

Great questions @max mager . The 4 inch works well for me, I will do a video on that next. I use window #3 of 6 for engine rpm, fuel flow, and, MPH, engine trim. Unfortunately the only window that has MPG is all raw data #6 and not a big fan of it. I only display my chart plotter on the screen or do a combo of radar/chart plotter. Depth is on it so no need for engine data or anything else other than depth, for my liking. The seat covers came from Boston whaler including the bow cover. --- What color and options did you select?

How do you use your live well, I turn it on and it just drains water
@BBVCorvettec62005
@BBVCorvettec62005 Год назад
There is a valve in the 2nd drawer from the floor (directly below the live well) that turns off the live well access. I just use that as a cooler with ICE when I have a lot of people

Also just ordered the 320 Vantage and after watching your video, I inquired about adding the AC option, as I opted not to get the generator. Dealer surprisingly advised against it telling me it would take its toll on the inverter system over the years. I still would like to add it, might have to override their recommendation. Only thing that is giving me pause is, wouldn’t the dealer want me to add as many options as possible? Why dissuade me? I’m so confused.

That’s interesting, is it a MarineMax dealer you ordered through? If so, have them reach out to MarineMax Clearwater who installed the AC option on this boat. @Smazz0808

@@BBVCorvettec62005 it wasn't a marine max dealer.

@@Smazz0808 That is clearly a puzzling situation to be in. I recommend you start an email thread with the dealer service/install team leader as well as Boston Whaler directly. Contact Boston Whaler via cxsupport@whaler.com or start by calling them and bringing them up to speed. If I was in your shoes, I would want to see both sides of the table discussing this issue at hand because as the owner and person paying for it, I want to see the fact's for what they are and not with any bias.

I, too, was advised not to add AC. Mine coming in March so time to make changes, I would think.

SeaDek must have…Why? Comfort, style? You don’t explain other than it stains
@BBVCorvettec62005
@BBVCorvettec62005 2 года назад
Hi Robert, guessing you might not have had SeaDek yet? It’s truly a cushion absorber on your feet. Feels like you’re walking on air to some extent, grippy/safe, overall makes the walking of the vessel so comfortable.

14 months after purchasing the boat and coming up on almost 3 years old, starting to run into adhesive issues with this SeaDek. Unsure how to reapply the pieces back down. Areas where high water amount exists (Dive Door, rear platforms) have completely fallen apart.
