A quick suggestion when using the extender... If you put the extender on top of the paint it won't leave that blop of paint. One of the reasons P mixes her paints on the end of her plate and with the extender or retarder is to avoid it touching the plate or even directly on your brayer.
Thank you. Good suggestion. I always appreciate advise and comments on ways to make my job as an artist easier and more efficient. I will try that next time I use these paints.
Love, love, love! Not only did I do a little private cheer that you like smaller 5x7 gel plates but I definitely did a secret lonesome high five with maybe a tiny happy dance when you achieved your epic crinkle technique -it looks awesome!! I loved the way you added that gorgeous PM stencil with your golden background and then layered your magnificent botanical print on top too. So very Christy and so very wonderful 💜
Your comments always make my day. Thank you so much. The 5x7 is my favorite sized plate for sure and is the one I use most frequently. The size just seems to fit my style of gel printing. You know I can’t resist adding a botanical if I can get it accomplished.
Learned alot. Did not know Americana DecoArt sold acrylic in tubes with wider range of colors than some mfgr. Also love the use of 5 x 7 but I have fallen in love with your focal points. I can do nice backgrounds but "for what?". You've given me great ideas. Thanks.
I’m so pleased. Thank you for that sweet comment. Unfortunately Deco Art has discontinued that line of paints, I was so disappointed because it was great paint both on the gel plate and for painting. I love trying to accomplish stand alone prints on the gel plate. That has been one of my goals now for a while. Good luck and keep printing!
I used a Deco Art Extender for the Premium line of paint which is no longer available. Deco Art quit producing it. The Deco Art Traditions Extender and Blending Medium is very good. Golden also has an excellent Acrylic Retarder. I’m sure there are other equally good brands of extender.
I had to rewatch the video to see what type of paper I used but deli paper to begin with and then used the Pacon printmaking paper which I love and is an inexpensive paper here in the US but honestly any good quality white paper will work. I’ve use the back of scrapbooking papers, my computer papers, and Bristol paper. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching and commenting.
