He was hurt before the fight. Dislocated shoulder and broken hand. He used the first few rounds to see how his shoulder and hand was doing and if he could continue. Once he realized Lopez wasn’t as strong as he thought and his shoulder was doing fine, he started coming in and made it look easy the last rounds. I still think they ran the scorecards controversially, could’ve been a draw or a closer call than it was, but it’s fine. Lopez got what he deserved against Kambossos.

He already suffered severe brain damage from his previous fight but took the fight against Nigel Benn . At any rate, he gets hit with a few hard flesh shots and begins blink repeatedly and breath hard through his mouth while his mouthpiece was hanging out of his mouth. He eventually gets counted out voluntarily after he couldn’t continue in I believe the 9 th or 10 th round and collapses in his corner after the fight . He had a severe blood cloth in his brain and a coma few weeks I believe maybe a week . When he woke up he was not the person he used to be . He was blind, pretty much death , and had severe memory loss. He has no memory of that horrible night he loss to Nigel Benn . He still struggles today while his sister takes care of him . He probably should’ve never been in the ring that night and the fight definitely should’ve been stopped. Loma definitely wasn’t wrong for asking his corner to save this kid and stop the fight . We don’t know what long term effect taking those punches will have on this kid when it could’ve been prevented.

That's exactly what happened in this fight. Loma wouldn't stop worrying, and he never stopped Comey, the fight went the distance.

Loma could have ended this mans night (and should have). Commey was fighting an undersized guy and getting his ass whooped. Heart maybe. Boxing skill not so much.

He didn't just survive the round... he survived the rest of the fight. You can argue that Loma let him survive the fight, but that is arguably worse than a KO in terms of damage to the brain.

@@huracan200173 I can't disagree with that just like I can't disagree that boxing shouldn't be allowed as a sport at all. I will disagree with your points about how fighters can end up dead of in a wheelchair. The chances of this kind of thing happening are extremely rare. Often times there were other symptoms present long before there was a stagger. I'd be more inclined to agree with an example referencing cte or other illness such as Parkinson's.

@@pikotard well, I'm not a doctor so I'll give you that. What I mean is that the referee's job is to protect the fighters and make sure the rules are followed. In my opinion the referee here did not protect the life of Commey as his job was. I did boxing for 5 years (albeit amateur, not pro) and when I see things like this, a boxer outperforming the other and asking the corner or the referee to step up and the other one staggering and almost falling apart, to me that's sadistic. Boxing is not about killing your opponent or injuring him beyond recovery, is about OUTBOXING him. Commey was HEAVILY outboxed here and should've been KO'd. He ended the fight on his feet only because Lomachenko wanted it so. If you had a sadistic fighter on the other side... this could've been a different story.

@@kunteproductions2762 if you are serious, then why are you asking rhetoric questions? Yes, Commey had a team aside the ring. That team didn't really care for his health and future. He wasn't able to win the fight, and he was even dragging his leg - and it was all very obvious. Why continuing the fight? You know professional boxers hit for real and getting hit by a professional boxer in the face isn't good for your health. It's best to finish the fight when the fight is clearly finished, otherwise the losing side might get unnecessary hurt.
