Botox in my bladder?! // My experience

This is my experience with getting botox in my bladder and how it helps me.
The reason why I get botox is because my bladder doesn’t communicate with my brain because of my spinal injury and causes my bladder to spasm. Botox relaxes my bladder muscles and stops it to spasm which helps me stay dry. People get botox injections in their bladder when other bladder relaxant drugs don’t work. The normal drugs people take for this is vesicare, mirabegron or ditropan. Bladder botox usually lasts for 6-9 months, it can be done for many many years, resulting in no permanent damage. It is done under a light general anaesthetic and can cause a bit of stinging pain and blood afterwards, but should not be for more than a day or two.

I had mine done yesterday and the result was instant. I'm overjoyed and so glad I did it. I had a local anaesthetic and watched on screen as they did it. Painless and fast. Life changing

Hey, hey… I’m glad to hear it helps a lot. Yes, I have to do my botox every 6 months, as it wears off fast. Do you have it under general anaesthetic or local?? This year I’m in the adult hospital system and I have local anaesthetic, but I didn’t like it as much. I could feel the needles and the drs put the screen of what they were doing next to me… and I gotta say, what I saw was not pleasant. Yeah didn’t like as much, but at least t was done

Don't let anyone put you off having this procedure. It's life changing. Worked from the minute I had it done. No discomfort but I would do it again and again for the results I've had . No pads and no wetting myself. Can hold my bladder for a long time. Better social life as not planning where toilets will be . It's amazing

Yes, I have heard that some people don’t get as good treatment, at least you don’t need it much. 😄

That is a really sweet racing bike. I totally get why it is important to get the Botox in the bladder. I had to have a bladder sling installed for my issues. That’s been pretty good but it is major surgery as well and you’re not allowed to do anything for six weeks.

I had it done yesterday, I was awake through the whole procedure. They don’t put us under here. It’s crazy how they do things different in other parts of the world. I’m glad your doing well. Do you feel pain afterwards? Much love to you From England.

Nice, I hope it works well for you. Yes I have pain afterwards, but nothing some Panadol and a hot shower won’t fix. Hmm, I hope I wasn’t too scary being awake for it 😬 are the Drs good over there? Here, their great!

@@freewheelingwithelise9421 hi, yeah it worked for me Thankyou. It wasn’t the best feeling having it done awake especially when they were counting how many more injections I needed lol. Plus I was on my own due to the covid situation. So no one was allowed to attend the hospital with me. I’m happy it worked for you too! Yeah the doctors were nice.

Yuck! That doesn’t sound appealing, I’m glad I’m in Aus then. Because I’m paralysed I don’t have much feeling down there, so I don’t know if I would feel it anyhow. Did you have to stay in the hospital long, or did you get out within a few hours?

@@freewheelingwithelise9421 Hi, sorry I’m only just replying. I didn’t realise you replied. No I didn’t have to stay at the hospital. They do the Botox then you’re feee to go home straight away. I’m book to have Botox again in a couple of weeks, I’m dreading it lol. So I’m watching Botox videos again for courage ha. It was supposed to be done 2 months ago, but due to covid the clinics were not on. I’m sorry to hear your paralysed, I hope you’re doing well. X

Me too, I had so much trouble getting it done because of covid, at one stage I was 4 months overdue! 😬 Now I am in the adults department, my last botox was done with only a local anaesthetic. ….It wasn’t much fun, I’m not too bad with gore and anatomy stuff but this was pretty bad. They put the screen that saw inside my bladder and all the injections right next to my face, I could see everything, I wish I hadn’t. My next one is due in September… I’m not looking forward to it. 😕

Because I was under general anaesthetic I couldn’t feel a thing. But the last bladder botox was under the adult hospital department, that was with using a local anaesthetic…. and yes, that did hurt!
