Remembering what old people used to say "the old times were better", I never believe that but now I find it's so true. Exquisite animation and creativity. It was 1936. From The Beatles till today's crap music, from this video to Spoonge Bob, from Casablanca to Transformers., old wins most of the times.

6:20 South American music and dance was very popular in the 1930's and 40's. The rhuba, the samba, and the conga were (temporary) crazes.

Wow, thanks for posting - I was searching the internet looking for this cartoon - like other people have said, it was something I saw many years ago (and it was old then LOL). They don't seem to show the old 'toons on TV anymore like they did when I was a kid. This was a pretty freaky one when I was young.

Only in 1936 could a kid be trusted to watch a cartoon about alcohol and spirits of ammonia. If it were remade into an animated short in 2022, everyone would go absolutely apeshit and cancel the crap out of the people who participated in such a thing!

Ian Anderson must have been channelling "Spirits of Ammonia" when he wrote "Aqualung".

Several aspects of this cartoon remind me of the Wicked Queen's black magic in "Snow White."

My favorite scene is at 2:03 because the music makes me think of Tom and Jerry Swimwear.

Coffee's roar sound is used instead of Tanners roar.

7:55 Spirits Ammonia always creep me out

I've been wanting to see this again for years! PIty that the quality is not that good... it's hard to read what's written in many bottles.

@carmaj156 It's true, however every generation feels the same way about the next generation and thinks "yeah but this time it *is* true".
