Can you imagine if they made a DLC and you find a cave with decayed guardians that never got dismantled. You make your way deeper and deeper, and right at the end, this music starts playing.
As you can walk through the darkness of the cave, it transitions into a cutscene and link turns around to see gloom hands take over the body of a guardian and the health bar appears on the top of the screen and it says “ gloom guardian (the sheikah and malice incarnate).
ok, the music is stellar, but can we just talk about how amazing the art is as well, the idea of a decayed guardian getting it's spider legs back by fusing with gloom hands and sprinting at you even more quickly than in botw, while being able to grab you and make it impossible to avoid getting lasered is absolutely terrifying
the most terrifying part would be the fact you CAN'T HEAL. you won't be able to heal in the depths once you are away from a light root (without copius amounts of sunny dishes) and i doubt something as terrifying as this would spawn next to a light root.
You know what would make it more scarier? That they grab you, then they will start preparing the laser to shoot you while they are grabbing you with their hands Edit: they can walk like a spider even on the roof they can also glitch out since you know they are old and they are being controlled by malice
I could see that as a Boss fight mechanic, the Guardian part not fully focused trying to lazer you whiles the Gloom Hands hold you and as they hold you and the Guardian trying to find and shoot you, you pull out a bow and shoot it in the Eye
Imagine an area in the depths called the "Shiekah Tech Dump" or something along those lines. As you venture further into this maze of a junkyard, you find items such as the ancient arrow head and other great gear. On your way out, an old, broken guardian head rolls out of the pile in front of you. A gloom hand rushes out of said pile, dragging the corpse of the guardian out with it. The gloom hand screws the head of the guardian back on, activating it and several other gloom hands shoot out of the bottom, where the legs used to be. A health bar appears on your screen. "Scourge of Hyrule Kingdom, Gloom Guardian" (or smthing) It screeches and takes aim, the combination of shiekah tech and gloom interfere with your purah pad, having a similar effect to the sandstorm in gerudo desert. You try to run, but this thing is faster than anything you've faced yet. Using prior knowledge of the gloom spawn, you climb up high, but this is no gloom spawn. Instead of appearing out of the ground, the arms come from the guardian itself allowing it to climb. Even an incredibly powerful weapon (like a silver Lynnwood horn with a royal guard claymore) seems to be practically ineffective. If the gloom infused laser misses you, it will explode and splatter gloom everywhere around it. However if you get hit, it will deal tremendous damage (even full heart containers is similar to just a few) it will also permagloom one of your hearts (which could be bought from bargainer or horned statues) or can also grab and shoot you, which at such close range is fatal unless you escape (or are at full health as you can't die if you are) of you manage to kill the arms, the second phase will initiate. Phantom Ganon bursts out of the guardian shell and no longer has the traditional gloom weapons, but wields a seemingly shiekah blade with a scythe (similar to silver lizalfos horns) fused on top. With this weapon, phantom Ganon is able to use it like all 3 weapon types. After the phantom Ganon fight, he drops the scythe topping as a material for fusing. It would have the most fuse attack power in the game. Also probably some special thing. This enemy is not Ganons doing. It will not respawn after a blood moon as Ganon has no control over it. After a blood moon, only normal gloom hands would spawn here.
I’m surprised Nintendo didn’t do this in tears of the kingdom because it would bring back those Botw flashbacks while terrifying you with the screams of the gloom hands.
like fr... they almost pretended everything 'ancient' didn't exist! there's still plenty of examples but even the remotest guardian shells vanished without a trace
@@Shnarfbird yeah I agree, the worst examples are the towers. They took down all these towers that all had map data just to make there own that serve the exact same purpose but not only less efficient but also….. THERE MADE WITH THE SAME TECH.
The scariest part to me is the lack of warning and just hearing the shriek of the monster. If you are not near an elevated surface then you are in for a shitty time.
@@AuroraTheIdiot unless it's a similar situation to a sandstorm in Gerudo Desert back in Botw since you couldn't fast travel there, so if this was an actual boss then it could be located in a place where you just couldn't fast travel, which would be really terrifying if you ask me.
I was LITERALLY JUST TALKING ABOUT THE SCREECH. I remember walking on the Hyrule castle grounds, heard the screech and said “Dear God where is that thing??”
Ganon replaced the soul power feeding the guardians with Malice in the first game, so why not just double the input of gloom/malice and control some arms on it?
Pretty good mixing the pieces together, however the gloom spawn theme is very dissonant and quiet and uneasy whereas the guardian theme is not dissonant, very fast and in your face. These pieces are polar opposites, I am surprised you made it sound that good!
A gloom possessed spider guardian with gloom hands popping out from everywhere. Once it catches you, it starts charging up to fire at you. You have to immobilize it AND defeat the gloom hands to "kill" it. Once it is "dead" a phantom Ganon with ancient weapons pops out. Best of luck
Okay, but Imagine this: You take out the legs, thinking you immobilized it, but then two more legs sprout out, along with arms, and now you have to deal with a humanoid guardian (b/c phantom ganon) edit: holy crap i come back like a year later and this thing has EXPLODED
They could've added a thing where you encounter a lone malice guardian in one of the labyrinths, thinking "wait, theres still guardians in totk? No problem" and then it starts having a seizure and gets overtaken by gloom instead, and transforms into this. You kill the guardian, the hands are still there, you kill the hands, phantom ganon appears.
And if it got defeated it will spawn a Phantom Ganon that starts to fuse with multiple Guardians, creating a Superior Form of Calamity Ganon, being Cataclysm Ganon
Genuinely got goosebumps listening to this. Imagine you're on great plateau tower and you see this scuttling up the side at 50mph shooting gloom beams at you
@@zero9435 It would definitely fit with their motif of bringing back old enemies with new mechanics. I doubt they'd use guardians again, but I can't wait to see what they do with the DLC
They should just make the next Zelda game a full on horror game, with this as one of the enemies. Just imagine the pure fear in every Zelda fan's eyes when encountering one of these.
If you're feeling extra spicy, add in the Ocarina of Time Redeads with their chilling scream and make the moon look eerily similar to the Majora's Mask moon and add in a cutscene of the Skull Kid being briefly seen before running off to add to the fear of the Moon possibly going to crush the planet again.
Gloom Stalker. The body would just be the husk of a Guardian that the Gloom found and took over, there would probably just be one, like the one on top of the laboratory
BOTW guardians were terrifying at first, but they quickly become pushovers once you figure out the shield parry timing. Gloom hands are pure terror. Nintendo really trolled us by making them faster than the player so you can't even run away
I could imagine it would look like the guardians that are in the ground from BOTW but when approached gloom would surround it and make it burst from the ground covering the broken guardian in its own gloom and the hands would rapidly make their way to you working like its legs *(and like a comment said the hands would grab you while target locking a laser on you)* And when you hit the guardian in the eye to stun it a few times it would work like a hinox, the hands will start to cover the guardians eye if you try to take aim again.
The idea of it looking like a dead guardian then popping up to ambush you reminds me a bit of the giant crab monsters in Dredge! The gloom in TotK looking like the Panic in Dredge really adds to it too!
1:12 was probably my favorite part, as it slowed down the Guardian Battle theme and added in the creepiness of the Gloom Hands. And the reversed hums made by people just made this even better.
Instead of that lynel in glooms approach , imagine a solitary decyaed guradian ,you jump down and a cut scene begins with THAT coming for you??? Terrified bro terrified
It would be cool if this was a thing, just seeing a powered down guardian and you think to yourself “oh, so they didn’t all just vanish” and you approach it and then it powers on but gloom begins seeping out of it, drenching the legs and turning the lights from the reddish-pink of malice to the blood red of gloom, the gloom spawn takes form as the guardian’s legs and you shit your pants
a familiar glare pierces the darkness of the depths... suddenly, a reticle appears over your heart, the thing, nay, the monster, that it is connected to gradually marching closer... YOUR FATE IS SEALED.
i love how like. inevitable this hypothetical enemy feels from this music. like the slow paced but frantic feel of the music. it’s slow, lumbering towards you yet there’s no running. it *will* find you. there’s no escape
Hypothetically Speaking: If Nintendo was to make a BoTW 3, what nightmare fuel enemy (akin to the Guardian or Gloom Hands) do you think they would add to keep us on our toes?
Maybe a normal enemy that appears to be normal but once you kill it gloom/malice sprouts out of its body and consumes the entire enemy camp and all the enemies nearby and acts as a fusion of enemies with things like bokoblin arms attached to it and lizalfo arms. Worst part is that they don't have set spawn areas an maybe every 300 enemies killed one will spawn or just make it happen randomly. And make it chase you down like the gloom hands. And guarantee the next night will be a blood moon.
(The story cuts to link, feeling a disturbance at the sealed off shrine of ressurection.) *Link has a vision of Zelda as he brushes his arm along the door* Link... I had hoped you would never find this place... Ganondorf, when experimenting with his new powers, created monsters, many of which were ungodly... Fusing Shikah technology with his newfound power, created a creature that I fear... would be the last one you meet... So, with the last of my strength, I sealed the beast away in the shrine of resurrection, in hopes to contain it, so that you shall never cross paths with it... *Link exits the Vision* Link: Grunts in confusion/curiosity. *Link brushes his arm up against the doors of the shrine* Door: *Glows bright blue, being overtaken by a dark red, with gloom oozing out of it.* (Suddenly... familiar beeping noises with a red laser points at link.) *Gloom hands sprout out of the darkness and grab hold of link* (Finally, with a closer look... Link trembles in fear... the gloom guardian, has awoken...) *Blast!* *Queue Game Over Screen*
I love the concept of this, just finding one of those broken nonfuntional guardians like in BotW, and then it starts moving but its legs are replaced by the hands
ooh, i like the 'short break' in the music to just have Guardian Whirring sounds...it almost feels like trying to run away from this "Gloom Guardian"-- maybe for just a split-second, you broke Line-Of-Sight (maybe you ran past a tree or something) so it has to take a moment to re-acquire a Target...
having a guardian shell charge towards you like a fucking animal, grabbing you a pulling you right in front of the eye only to put a fucking hole in you with a gloom laser is fucking horrifying
Funnily enough the guardian part of the theme calms me down more than it spooks me at this point because of playing BOTW to much and getting really good at parrying guardians. The Gloom Hand theme spooks me twice as much as the guardian theme did though so it balances out.
The only thing that could make this any more horrifying is if the guardian head stretched off of its body, revealing a gloom neck covered in eyes that spread shoots lasers. Just picture the demonic Thomas the tank engine, and you will understand what I mean.
I imagine that the decayed guardian from hateno is found by a set of hands and the way it walks is by the hands clawing and dragging the forcefully active corpse of the guardian and his t might attack you by grabbing and draining your health while also firing the laser point blank.
Honestly this would have made a really awsome yet unnerving mini boss encounter in the depths. I know the sheikah tech just disappeared according to Nintendo but just imagine this... After BotW the citizens of Hyrule destroy all sheikah tech so that there's no chance of Ganon getting control of them again. With how many Guardians there were some were bound to be missed. When Ganondorfs gloom began to spread it took some forgotten guardian parts and formed this monster. Now it simply lurks somewhere in the depths waiting for an unsuspecting hero to be unfortunate enough to cross its path.
This thing should just be an immortal enemy that wanders the depths. Just seeing that in the distance and watching run towards you while this plays would give me a heart attack.
Yoo thats sounds so sick i wish nintendo made totk gaurdians infected with the gloom and gloom hands and the divine beasts would be exactly like the corrupted gaurdians but attacking the people from the citys that would be so wow.
or, hear me out here, the divine beasts would be in pieces, and then, all of a sudden, the pieces come together via gloom and form this monstrous divine beast amalgamation with the secondary (aka the elemental) abilities of all the divine beasts, good luck fighting that! :)
